Do they have a serial killer??? Well done, mystery, enjoying this series...suggest you read in order, don't have to but gives more continuity to story.

I could not put this book down! It was so intense! The story was fast-paced and had me on the edge of my seat! I loved this book so much!!! I thought the story was fabulous, filled with unexpected twists and turns. The characters were great and I loved getting to know them. I look forward to reading the future books in the series! I need more!!!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This series was just what I have been waiting for. I'm obsessed with this Wyoming-based crimewave thriller and am loving all the secrecy with literally everyone. This novel gave us more viewpoints, especially from the bad guy who is scarier this time around, than the first installment in this series, Her Silent Bones. With all of the new characters, and the stacking up of dead bodies, there is much to unpack in Book 2.
At the outset of Book 2 in the Delaney Pace series, we catch up with Delaney struggling to manage work, adjusting to her new partner, and taking on guardianship of her niece Kateena. Making matters Worse, poor Delaney's new boss is a creepy and untrustworthy cop who is hellbent on irking our beloved detective and force-feeding her a high-profile new case: local football star with an arrogant, stuffy, get-my-own-way dad ends up dead in the locker room from an apparent drug overdose. Let the chaos begin!
I'm loving the descriptions of the beautiful and picturesque Wyoming backdrop throughout the novels. It is a nice touch and a breath of fresh air amongst the murder and mayhem! I recommend this title and the other two books in the series as well!
“Her Hidden Grave" by Pamela Fagan Hutchins takes readers on another pulse-pounding journey with Detective Delaney Pace in the second installment of the series. Having read my second book by the author, I continue to be impressed by Hutchins' ability to craft compelling mysteries with well-developed characters.
The story opens with a gripping scene at a local high school in Kearney, Wyoming, where the body of star football player Noah Pinehurst is discovered. The intensity escalates as two of Noah's friends go missing, sparking Detective Pace's deep-seated fear that a serial predator is targeting the town's teenagers. The author skillfully intertwines the present-day investigation with Delaney's haunting memories of her father's murder, adding layers of emotional complexity to the narrative.
The tension builds as one of the missing teenagers reappears, sharing a harrowing tale of being kidnapped and buried alive. Delaney's personal connection to the kidnapper adds a compelling twist, creating a sense of urgency and a moral dilemma for the detective. The story masterfully explores the lengths Delaney is willing to go to protect her community, even if it means confronting the ghosts of her past and making unimaginable sacrifices.
Hutchins maintains a brisk pace throughout the novel, keeping readers on the edge of their seats with unexpected twists and turns. The small-town setting of Kearney comes alive with vivid descriptions, enhancing the atmospheric quality of the story.
While the plot remains suspenseful and engaging, there are moments where certain developments may feel slightly familiar or predictable, preventing a perfect rating. However, "Her Hidden Grave" is a solid continuation of the Detective Delaney Pace series, and I eagerly anticipate what comes next. Pamela Fagan Hutchins continues to deliver thrilling mysteries that captivate readers, and her adept storytelling ensures a satisfying experience for fans of the genre.. fans of Kendra Elliot and Melinda Leigh won’t be disappointed in trying this new series.
Thanks to Ms Hutchins, the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Detective Delaney Pace and her partner, Leo, are called to the local high school to investigate the murder of the school's star quarterback, Noah Pinehurst. His father is a very wealthy man and demanding quick and immediate work on this case. As Delaney and Leo work to solve this murder, a friend from Delaney's early days seeks her out and mentions that she hasn't heard from her children in a few days and thinks they are missing. Delaney and Leo kick it into high gear to work both cases - all the while, trying to determine if Delaney's criminal brother, Leo, is missing or actually dead. This is a great new series that I am looking forward to see how Ms. Hutchins takes the team further. Thank you to Bookouture for an advanced reader of this book. The opinions expressed are my own.
This is the 2nd book in the series and I would definitely recommend reading the first book. You will want to follow the story of Liam ,Delaney's brother thru the books. This book was a bit slower than the first but still a perfect mix of mystery and suspense. Great series!!!
An excellent sequel to the first in the series in which we continue to learn about our protagonist whilst entering another exciting thrill ride.
Equally gripping, this could easily be read as a stand alone novel but I'm rather glad things weren't left hanging between Delaney and Leo and, as such, the conclusion is very satisfying.
A great, solid police procedural thriller in the excellent style that we have come to expect.
Already on the loom out for the next one.
Many thanks.
The second book in the series, it was even better than the first.
Delaney and Leo suck you right in. I love watching them work and interact and try to avoid the sparks between them.
Loving this series so far, full of suspense.
Ok…
Book 1 was good, book 2 was soooo good! This series is fast and so twisted. Delaney Pace is such a cool character. And I’m looking forward to how the Leo situation is going to go. Her sense of justice is deep. And for someone who swears she wants no ties, she’s gathering quite a posse. Diving into book 3.
The second book again is very fast-paced and action filled. I was confused at some places but overall, very enjoyable ! I'm impatient to read the rest of the serie.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for access to this arc in exchange for my honest review.
Having read book one of this series, I eagerly waited for book 2. It didn't disappoint. Guessing on a bad guy reappearing I made assumptions that were completely wrong. I didn't guess the right culprit until nearly the end. There were a few sad moments, but that could be because I'm already getting invested in the lives of the main characters. I'm now moving straight on to book 3!
Explosive from start to finish!
A ruthless, cold-hearted killer, a drug lord, corrupt officials and Detectives Delaney Pace and Leo Palmer are racing to keep the innocent safe and hunt down the rotten seeds in their small town.
Delaney continues to show her tough as nails, incredibly competent side as she chases a killer as well as her protective mother side to her niece Keteena.
The tension between Delaney and Leo continues but will secrets and misunderstandings come between what could be...
This book will have you on the edge of your seat from start to finish and reaching for book 3 for the next installment, thankfully, the 3 books are being released at the same time so you can binge read them all at once!
Grippingly unpredictable. Be prepared to put your life on hold! Taut and tense from the first page to the closing paragraphs……loved it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Have enjoyed the previous book in the series and this one hit the mark. Plenty of suspense throughout and likeable characters. Look forward to the next one. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to review it.
This is a very good follow up to the first book in the Delaney Pace adventures. It's set in Montana and is shaping up to be a good series. The developing characterisation is excellent, it's well plotted as well as being fast paced and full of tension. I like the developing relationship between young Kateena and her aunt, there is lots more to come from her I am sure. The ending left me feeling that I wanted to dive right in to book 3 and continue the journey. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.
I would like to thank Netgalley and Bookouture for an advance copy of Her Hidden Grave, the second novel to feature Deputy Investigator Delaney Pace of the Kearny County, Wyoming Sheriff’s Department.
The local high school’s star quarterback, Noah Pinehurst, is dead of an apparent overdose. Two days later two of his best friends disappear after his memorial. Delaney isn’t sure what’s going on, but when one of the friends turns up, having been shot and buried alive it can’t be anything good.
I thoroughly enjoyed Her Hidden Grave, which is an event filled rollercoaster of a read with some unexpected twists and turns. The novel is mostly told from Delaney’s point of view with the unnamed killer and his actions getting a say as well, even if this is not as revealing as it might suggest. The author has a few twists up her sleeve to complicate matters further.
Right from the beginning the novel is fast past paced and intriguing, starting as it does with a burial. Who are Thing 1 & 2 as the killer refers to his victims? That got me hooked and it never let up. Basically, Delaney and her partner, Deputy Leo Palmer, have very little idea of what is going on, but that’s won’t stop them digging until they do and the investigation is only one part of the novel. There is the whiff of corruption and influence peddling, Leo has trouble with his DEA handlers, Delaney has issues with Leo and her “dead” brother is poking his head above the parapet again. It never stops and is therefore a compulsive read. Obviously much of it is highly unlikely, not least Delaney’s terminator impression where she refuses to go down, but it is entertaining.
There is a romantic tension between Delaney and Leo, but working together etc… Well, whatever, but they are in the misunderstanding and jumping to conclusions stage in this novel and that is progress, so who knows what is next.
Her Hidden Grave is a good read that I have no hesitation in recommending.
Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. I really enjoyed the first book in this series and also really enjoyed Book 2. Great storyline and great characters. Would recommend.
I've read books 1, 2 and 3 in this series, and even if it's possible to read them as stand-alones, it's definitely better to read them in sequence. As usual with this author, the books are well written and easy to read. The setting and the characters are fantastic, as always, but the most important is the numerous points of suspense through all of these three books. Add a little humor, and you have excellent entertainment.
I'm hooked! The drama of from Book 1 continues as Delaney Pace takes on another mystery that feeds off of the secrets floating around her town. The mystery of this book kicked off quickly while still building on the drama that happened previously and the ongoing crime spree. I am loving the dynamic duo of Delaney and Leo and the sparks that sizzle every time they interact. Looking forward to more to come! Non-stop action, great core base of crime fighters and lots of family drama and feels.
Another knock it out of the park instalment. The first Delaney Pace was my first experience with this author but I’t will not be my last. This author has started an incredible series here. The suspense oozes throughout. The characters are so well written and like able. I am invested in their lives! This one rushed at breakneck speed. I could not put it down. Filled to the brim with heart stopping moments and twists and turns. But I’m between all that action relationships and friendships are built. Families are made. This quickly shot up to one of my favourite series.
5 stars!
