I loved Brendan Shanahan's previous book, In Turkey I am Beautiful, so I was thrilled to be able to read this book. It takes a similar irreverent look at Australia's Gold Coast. I learned a lot from this book and was entertained throughout. Shanahan has a wonderful narrative style that can make nonfiction read like fiction, which is a quality I love in nonfiction writing.
