Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the ARC.
This was a different read and not quite what I was expecting. It wasn't bad but it was definitely different.

What a remarkable book about a competitive journey of twenty determined incredible people! Roger captured my attention from beginning to end. The experiences and emotions of the cancer survivors are relatable to those who have had close ones go through the ordeal while others could learn what it involves and how it affects the patient and family. The reader will cheer on each paddler to good health, while cheering on each paddler in the teams' quest to capture the gold. There is much wisdom to be learned especially how to live each day. You will walk away with a new hold on life.

I thought that this was a true story. I started to question my sanity when it was said that it was based upon true events.

If I had known half way in that this was NOT a true story, I would have given up reading it.

The main character, Tripp, is, to put it bluntly, an egotistical maniac. His only concern is himself, winning, and his dear old daddy.

Tripp is hard to like, hard to relate to and overall a burning hatred began to burn within me.

Of course, the last 10 minutes of the book, Tripp is redeemed in thunder and lightning, washing his sins away with the rain, to become a better person.

This book is so far off the rails and unlikable that it was hard to finish. I had to take several breaks.

Even the writing was contrite, I knew what Tripp was going to say/do before the character did it.

Skip this book, you won't find any inspiration here.
