Great twisting thriller with a superb plot and writing
Kathryn Croft is one of my go-to authors when I need a quick and thrilling read that will keep me fully engaged. I love her writing style, and The Girl in Room 12 was a very entertaining read. I was fully invested in this book for the first half, but I did predict the ending early on. Some parts of the book were a little outlandish, but I appreciated the secondary twists throughout the book. The characters were great, and I loved that I did not know who to trust. Overall, this was a fun read!
Kathryn Croft has done it again, a shame her of a book; with its relentless action and heart-stopping suspense, this novel is sure to keep readers on the edge of their seats.

It' was ok. Not much satisfied with it.
Bookstore owner Hannah reads on the news that someone named Alice Hughes has been found dead in a hotel in their small town. While putting her husband's jacket in the closet, she finds a door card of the same hotel in his pocket and suspects that Max may be involved in the crime and has cheated on her with Alice. He has been behaving strangely lately too, even though he claimed that he is going through a difficult period at work. Trying to investigate on her own, Hannah runs into Alice's friend Taylor, who also wants to know what happened. When Max has once again told Hannah he has to stay at work longer, soon the police appears at the door, telling Max was attacked and is in hospital. It turns out that he does not remember the last six months of his life. No way for Hannah to confront him now.. In addition to all the difficulties of keeping her daughter Poppy away from Max and dealing with suspicions, Hannah is often followed by a gray Volkswagen Golf..
I didn't connect with any of the characters.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me an advance copy.
This was an okay read but there were so many things that were unlikely to happen that it threw the story off.
Wow!
Everything I want in a book is here. The thrill, the emotions, character development, the pacing and the well-drawn out twist!
Kudos to the author!
3.75*
This was such a gripping read, I devoured it in under 3 hours!
I had my suspicions about every single person within the book, and at moments I thought I’d figured it out … but I couldn’t have been more wrong!!
The book was full of twists and turns, and I’d never have guessed the main plot twist. I do wish there had been some sort of tiny hint in the buildup to it, as I feel like this would have added more to the plot and made the experience even better for the reader.
Overall, I really enjoyed this - I needed a fast-paced and gripping thriller & this one hit the spot for me.
Thank you to the author, publisher & Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
Love this author and this book - wow! Gripping. Addictive. Totally absorbing. Packed with twists you don't see coming. Loved it.
This book sucked me in from the very first page and never let up! Full of twists and turns, you'll be doubting everyone!
What is Max hiding?
Not the most pleasant man, Hannah's husband Max is late home - again. And soon, a young woman's body is found in a hotel room, and oddly, the key card to said hotel room is in Max's possession.
The Girl in Room 12 mostly involves dreadful people doing dumb or dreadful things. There are plenty of twisty-turns and a few too many convenient discoveries. Not bad but not the author's best.
Another fantastic five star read from Kathryn Croft! When a young woman is found murdered and her husband has a key from a room at the same hotel, you may think you know how the story will unfold. You'll be wrong! So many twists and turns! Love it!
This one just didn't do it for me. The story dragged and just didn't make sense. Any normal person wouldn't be acting the way Hannah did in this book. Then the ending was a mish mash of trying to implicate every character in the wrong doing. Some good ideas just not executed particularly well.
I received an arc copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. Another awesome read by this author. I seriously have not read a book by this author yet that I have not loved and given rave reviews. The best thing about this author is that you never have to wait until the very end for a twist. You might get a twist at 40 percent and think okay what can happen now and believe me that there are always more twists to come up until the very last page!!!
I have read lots of books by author Kathryn Croft and when The Girl in Room 12 came up and it sounded right up my street, I was excited to read it.
We meet main character Hannah, happily married to Max and they have a lovely little one called Poppy.
When there is a local murder, a woman called Alice, in the local hotel has been killed this puts the locals on edge. When Hannah sees a picture of Alice she recalls seeing her somewhere before.
She then finds a hotel key card for the exact hotel that Alice was murdered in, in her husband's belongings and Hannah needs to find out why Max has this card.
We are introduced to many characters, Sarah and Ivy, Hannah's best friend and daughter and then Luke who quickly comes in Hannah's life and tells her a few truths about her husband.
The narrative and storyline was very cleverly plotted and I enjoyed reading this novel. The only and very slight drawback for me was that some of the text was quite repetitive but its not much at all.
Thanks to the author, publisher and Netgalley for allowing me an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Blimey, what a read this turned out to be!!
It's fast paced from beginning to end, full of twists, red herrings and a shocker of an ending, that as always I somehow didn't see coming.
There was a great bunch of characters, although I found myself being unable to form any emotional bonds with them...there were trust issues right from the start.
For suspense, shockers and suspicions, this is the book for you. It comes highly recommended by me.
I've enjoyed every one of Croft's books I've read so far and she's now a permanent fixture on my favourite psychological thriller author list!
I received a complimentary copy of this book via Netgalley. Opinions expressed in this review are my own opinions.
I love a good mystery novel and The Girl in Room 12 fits the bill. The characters were well written and the children are adorable so it's it's an easy book to just get lost in for hours (which I did)
BOOKWORMS REVIEW: Hannah is married to Max,and mum to 5 yesr old Poppy. Max and Hannah have had their issues in the past but things are mostly good now. But her mind kicks into overdrive following a news report of a death at their local hotel. This is supposed to be a safe area..but there's more. The death happened on a night that Max wasn't home, and Hannah found a hotel key in Maxs suit, for the very hotel. What is going on?!
This is a little slow to get going, with red herrings aplenty..but will keep you interested. Hannah is out to get the truth, whatever that may be.
With thanks to Bookouture NetGalley and Kathryn Croft for an eARC to read and review.
Thank you Netgalley, Kathryn Croft, and Bookouture for the advanced reader ebook!!! I absolutely love anything by Kathryn!! She can weave a psychological thriller like it's no one else's business! I loved this story and all the twists that came with it!
Hannah has no idea what's going on with her husband. He stays late at the office, withdrawn and massive change in behavior. Is he cheating?
A young woman is found dead in a nearby hotel. Hannah isn't concerned - until her daughter's bestie claims Max and Alice were friends.
WHAT?! I KNOW!!
Quick, easy read.
Loved this book!!!!!!! Loved the twist! This was my first book by Kathryn Croft, will be looking for more!! 5 stars!!!!!
