This was my first book from Kathryn Croft, and I was completely absorbed in it from the start. It's very fast-paced and I flew through it as I was eager to figure out what happened to Alice Hughes.

Since there are a limited number of characters in the book, I thought I knew who did it but there were enough twists and red herrings that kept me glued to the book. I was initially skeptical but Hannah made for a likable protagonist.

The only problem with so many twists is that the plot can become convoluted. As long as you're ready to enjoy this for what it is, a fun thriller, you'll like it.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the e-ARC!

Incredibly suspenseful with twists that jump out of nowhere!!
Hannah has a good life with husband Max and daughter Poppy in a nice neighborhood.
Or so she thinks.
Until Max starts acting very out of character with displays of temper never seen before.
and a girl is murdered in a hotel located close by and she just happens to find a hotel
key, from that same place, in his pocket.
All of a sudden, the question marks start hovering over her and Max seems more and\more distant
and short tempered every day.
A really good mystery with surprises screaming out.
Croft has a way with words that keep you entrapped in the story, flipping the pages to find out what is
going to happen next.
Good read.

Always a favourite author of mine, Kathryn Croft has produced another great book.

Hannah is married to Max and they have a five year old daughter Poppy. Hannah suspects that Max may be up to no good, he is continually coming home late from work. He says it is because his job as a financial analyst is so high pressured that he has to work long hours but Hannah has doubts this is all that is going on. Hannah owns a book shop that has been passed down to her by her mother and she loves it, when she is not looking after Poppy which is a full time job on its own due to Max’s lack of involvement, this is her happy place.

While watching the news one night there is a headline about a young woman who has been found killed in a hotel room quite close to where they live. She then finds a key card in Max’s trousers from the River Walk Hotel, the same hotel the girl has been found dead in. This sets Hannah off on her own investigation, for some reason the young woman’s name seems familiar to her and Hannah now believes that Max may have some involvement with this young woman.

There is a great cast of characters who each bring something to the story creating an environment that will intrigue the reader. Lies and secrets are always present and Hannah will have to work hard to find out the truth. Even strong friendships will be questioned and tested as Hannah tries to unfold her husband’s part in this mess and she will discover that things are not as she thought they were.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for an advanced copy of the book, all opinions are my own.

I have loved all of her books, this fell flat for me, I wanted to love it but had a hard time , it was too slow for me and the characters didn't make sense . I would definately keep reading Kathryn's books as they all have been awesome with the exception of this one.!

Good storyline, but bland characters. I found it a bit slow and repetitive.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this book.

The girl in room 12 is another addictive read from the author. I have been following her from her very first book and she never disappoints.
Hannah and Max are married and have a little girl called Poppy. Hannah owns her own bookshop and Max has a well-paid job. But recently he has been coming home late when Poppy is due to go to bed and you never knows what mood he is in, which annoys Hannah.
When Heather picks up Max’s suit off the floor. She finds a key card from the River Walk hotel. The same hotel that she heard recently on the news that a woman called Alice was murdered. Is Max having an affair and was he involved in killing Alice. The woman who the Police has just found the body. Is her own life in danger?
The is another multi-layered tense thriller from the author. Which I enjoyed but in certain times it did drag on a bit. But I am glad I kept at it. This is a great read that I kept me guessing right up to the end. 4 stars from me.

This book put me into the main character’s shoes from page one! I never get up in the middle of the night to read but I did with this story. What is going on with Hannah’s husband, Max? Every chapter leaves you wanting more answers. I won’t give away any spoilers. Read for yourself. There are twists and more twists. I loved it!

I must be in the minority with this book but I just didn’t enjoy it. It was a struggle to keep reading and I didn’t really care what would happen next.
Personally it was the characters, they were blah and unlikeable. The plot was good enough, but the lead characters just let it down for me.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC in return for an honest review.

This is another fantastically gripping psychological thriller from Kathryn Croft.

This story is told from the perspective of Hannah, married to Max, but definitely gong through a rocky patch. The pair are parents to Poppy, and certainly more devoted to her than they are to each other. Hannah's world is rocked to its core by the unsettling news that a woman has been found dead in a nearby hotel - largely because the room key is found by Hannah in her husbands pocket. Hannah then meets a mysterious stranger who is ever bit as keen to uncover the truth as Hannah is. Can he be trusted? - Hannah asks herself this, amongst many other questions as this fantastic story plays out.

This novel is a tale of suspicion, lies, deceptions and obsessions. Above all else it is a fantastically engaging plot that is superbly well written. This is 100% a 5* read from me!

My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.

Mixed feelings

This book started out slowly for me, then picked up and floes, then abruptly slowed down again to the ending. I thought I had it figured out, then the author threw in a couple of random twists, then the ending wound up being my original idea. I can’t say I got particularly vested in any of the characters though.

It is entertaining and a decent read, I would consider another by this author.

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.

This was a definite one session read for me - staying up late, I just wanted to know where it was going to go as there were so many plausible outcomes and every one had a story to tell and who to trust. Just loved it.

I was given an advance copy by netgalley and bookouture but the review is entirely my own

When I read thrillers, I have two goals. One is to enjoy myself of course. The other is trying to find out if I can solve the case too. The first goal is easy to achieve. The second one is a whole other kettle of fish, I assure you. :) I do sometimes am able to point my finger in the right direction, but when the author has twist up their sleeve, something I adore, I am often lost in the fog. ;)

In some books there are very little candidates for the role of suspect, but in some you have a whole catalogue to pick from.

In this book, I don't think there was one single person I did not suspect apart from Ivy and Poppy, but they were only 5 years old. ;)

The lesson I have learned here is if you have the feeling someone is creepy, they often are and you should try and get them out of your life as soon as possible.

When trust is broken, it's often broken for ever. Honesty is the key word!

A great story that had my brain rattling in my head, because I could not decide on the name of the baddie. 5 stars

Thank you

The Girl in Room 12
By: Kathryn Croft
4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Hannah and Max have a little girl Poppy. Hannah has noticed that Max has been distant and working very late but he is a devoted dad to Poppy.

A young woman is found in Rive Walk Hotel. Her name is Alice and speculation and rumors are running rampant on why she was in a hotel when she lived close by!

Adding to the mystery Hannah finds a key to the hotel in her husband’s jacket. Could he be having an affair?

Kroft always draws me in with her novels and very detailed characters! This plot was so unique, unexpected and fun to its heart pounding and unexpected conclusion.

Thank you Bookouture. This novel is out January 26, 2024.

Wow had been guessing till the very end. I want more! I have been known to throw around terms like “Great book”, “Fantastic Read” etc. But I don’t think I have ever used the term and also fully meant it. “Mind Blown”, because that’s what this book does, it well and truly blows your mind and unlike many thrillers leaves you with that satisfied complete feeling at the end.

The start of The Girl in Room 12 by Kathryn Croft is a bit slow, but then it picks up and keeps you on your toes.

A woman is killed in a hotel room, and Hannah finds the room card key in her husband’s pocket. Could he be involved? Hannah has noticed his demeanor lately has changed, and she is stuck about what to do.

The storyline was interesting and had some good twists; however, as mentioned, the story was slow in parts.

The Girl in Room 12 is a good read overall. I would probably recommend this book. I will also check out other books by this author.
