My thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and author Robert Bailey for the opportunity to review an ARC of this forthcoming book. I was pleased to have the opportunity to read this latest book in the Jason Rich series having read the first two books. I also read the Bocephus Hayes books and they are very good.
Without giving away spoilers, Rich Justice is a fast moving ride that with a number of interesting plot twists and storylines. The plot is basic: drug dealer Tyson Cade is shot three times outside of a convenience store, and on his dying breath claims it was Jason Rich that killed him. But was it? Rich was drunk out of his mind that day, and while he remembers going on a drive on the same road he doesn't know if he killed Cade. He also was carrying a glock pistol in his car and when he returned to his lake home proceeded to throw it in the lake. Rich is arrested, arraigned, and is likely facing the death penalty for Cade's murder.
Rich eventually sobers up and decides he wants to defend himself until he realizes it is not a smart move. He enlists the aid of former D. A. Shay Lankford, herself frustrated after losing the election to the former DA, a character you will love to hate named "Wish." Jason is also assisted by three brothers who served in the Army who have adopted him as a fourth brother. The new drug dealer also wants Rich killed, fearing if he wins the trial he will continue to be trouble for the meth trade.
The book at times reads like a Rambo movie wrapped inside a drug kingpin story. There are a lot of interesting characters and plot lines to keep you reading.
I will say most of the character are not people you will like. Each is flawed in their own way. It is a well conceived plot and is executed very well, as long as you suspend belief on a hapless Sheriff who seems to be behind two steps of all of the violence.
If you like mystery/thrillers you will want to add this to your TBR list.
I was issued this book for my unbiased review by NetGalley.
I always enjoy Robert Bailey books. It doesn't really matter who the main character is the books are great reads.
Lot of twists and turns, and great characters. Some you root for and some you don't. The main character in this book falls in between. He is in a tough spot both physically and mentally. His struggles are well illustrated in this book, and will be interesting to see how things develop in future offerings.
This book is the third and best book in the Jason Rich series so far! This book has so many surprises in it. When notorious drug dealer Tyson Cade is shot and killed, Jason gets charged with his murder. Jason asks for help from his old adversary, Shea Lankford.
They both have had their reputations ruined and have almost nothing left to lose but their lives, which almost happens. I love Robert Bailey's books. He lives in an area close to me and uses lots of city and street references I'm familiar with. That helps me visualize the events he describes in his books.
Rich Bailey is a very good writer – this is only my second book of his but it certainly will not be my last – I like his writing – and I love book about attorneys. This is a very good story of Jason being accused of murdering a meth biggie by the name of Tyson Cade. He needs help and gets it from someone who is as bad as he is. Together they try to solve the case. It certainly is an active story. I’m sure you will enjoy it too.
"Rich Justice," the third installment in the Jason Rich series by Robert Bailey, once again comes out delivering a riveting legal thriller that captivates from beginning to end. With ten remarkable legal thrillers under his belt, Bailey continues to showcase his talent in crafting compelling narratives and bringing to life characters that resonate with readers.
The story revolves around Jason Rich, a once flashy and successful lawyer whose life takes a dramatic turn, leaving him disgraced and stripped of everything he holds dear, thanks to meth kingpin Tyson Cade. However, when Cade is shot and killed in his territory, Jason finds himself accused of a murder he didn't commit, plunging him into a relentless quest to clear his name.
Bailey's writing is deft and spare, allowing the characters to shine and the plot to unfold with precision. Jason Rich is a complex protagonist, and Bailey skillfully delves into the intricacies of his character, making him relatable and compelling. The courtroom scenes, a hallmark of Bailey's legal thrillers, are expertly crafted, drawing readers into the tension and drama of the legal proceedings.
In "Rich Justice," Bailey introduces Shay Lankford, an old adversary and a fellow disgraced attorney, as an unlikely ally for Jason. The dynamics between the characters add depth to the narrative, and the exploration of their pasts brings an additional layer of complexity to the story.
While having knowledge of the previous two Rich novels enhances the reading experience, Bailey ensures that "Rich Justice" stands on its own as a captivating legal thriller. The intricate plot, coupled with Bailey's ability to create authentic and credible characters, keeps readers engaged and invested in the outcome.
As Bailey navigates the twists and turns of the legal landscape, readers are treated to a story that is both a pleasure and a privilege to experience. "Rich Justice" is a testament to Robert Bailey's storytelling prowess, and for those who have yet to discover his works, this novel is an excellent entry point into the gripping world of legal thrillers.
another great installment in the Jason Rich storyline. This one picks right up after book 2 and dives more into Jason's addiction. The legal drama is top notch and it keeps you reading to see how it all plays out. What a great end to the series (or at least I think this is the last one).
thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
Rich Justice is fabulous!! Robert Bailey has created an intense legal mystery with a totally shocking twist. Did not want this one to end! Excellent drama full of crime, passion, addiction, recrimination, and revenge.
Thanks to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for the opportunity to read this amazing ARC.
Robert Bailey is still an undiscovered gem in the UK which is a travesty as he has now written 10 wonderful legal thrillers featuring three brilliant characters. Firstly the McMurtrie books, then Bo Haynes and now Jason Rich, of which this is the third in the series.
His writing is deft and spare but the characters are well depicted and credible. The plot is complex and draws you in and then you get the court scenes which are compelling.
It certainly helps of you have read the previous two Rich novels but that will be a pleasure, joy and privilege.
Highly recommended.
Another page turner in this series. I really enjoy the characters and plots of all 3 books. Awesome series and another great entry!
4,5 stars!
This was my first Robert Bailey book and I couldn't have been more interested, as I am a fan of the legal thriller genre!
The plot is so so interesting, it keeps you sitting on the edge of your seat as we root for Jason Rich.
Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for the ARC!
I have read everything by Robert Bailey since The Professor. I will read everything that comes out in the future. This most recent, the third (of hopefully many) in Jason Rich series is captivating, intriguing, and a page turner. I stayed up well past bedtime to finish this. It was worth it.
Jason has had his law license suspended, he is undergoing mandated alcohol rehab. Life couldn’t be worse. That is until he is arrested for murder. And that is just the beginning.
Read this book and then go read the rest of Bailey’s books.
Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the advance review copy of the book.

The third book in the Jason Rich series is the best yet, as our protagonist, him, is charged with murder. his battles with alcohol, prosecutors, and drug dealers make proving his innocence a monumental challenge. His own team of supporters rally to help fight his enemies and demons.
