Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to listen to an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Love, Naturally by Sophie Sullivan will be released on January 16th, 2024.
If you enjoy cozy romance stories, then you should pick this book up, but to me? To me it was just...boring. It wasn't one of those books that I was excited to pick up again and I wasn't super into it, but I think that I know why that is and it has nothing to do with how the book was written, the narrator, or the plot. I think it was just the genre for me - I couldn't get into it.
This was a cute quick read. It reminded me of a Hallmark movie where the big city girl goes to a small town and falls in love. It seemed like Presley conforms to her boyfriends. First she was with the big city guy and living up the influencer/hotel manager life, then she starts being a nature girl and tells Beckett that her dream vacation is small towns. Overall too much Instagram mentioned and seemed stretched out.

My Thoughts:
I was excited to read this based on the synopsis, but it fell short for me. This was clean as far as no sex but there were quite a few sexual enuendos. There was some language, more so towards the end, including a handful of f-bombs. It was super insta-lovey, like the main characters were a couple and wondering if each other was "the one" after 2 days and then wanting to spend the rest of their lives together within 10 days. It was too much. I couldn't really connect to the main characters because of that, but I did like the setting and the whole resort vibes. Overall, this was okay, I didn't hate it, but at the same time, I wanted it to hurry up and end. The narration was great, and it honestly was my favorite part about this whole book.
Thank you, NetGalley, and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to listen and review this advanced copy.
Super cute insta love romcom.
I really enjoyed the dual pov and the dual narrators to coincide. It’s just not the same when it’s multiple POV with one narrator. That being said, our audio book narrators were both a perfect fit for the characters. Both brought passion and enthusiasm to their roles, which could be heard while listening.
This story is fade to black/closed door so it’s great if you’re looking for a romance that won’t have you turning the volume down and blushing if you’re listening at work.
I would recommend Love, Naturally for fans of Sarah Adams.
This book was a cute little adventure and exactly what you need to listen to on a rainy day. (I listened to the audio version)
I’ll be honest, the beginning did not entice me. I didn’t know where the book was going to go and wasn’t sure what to expect.
But once Presley got onto the island I was hooked. She found good friends who turned into a found family and had a forced proximity/fake dating trope going on with the MMC.
I loved each characters and their stories, I loved the little twists and turns, but mostly, I loved the lodge and island. So much that my husband and I booked a trip to Mackinac island this summer. This book was a little hug and it was so enticing by the end that my HUSBAND listened to it with me, which he never does. We loved this book and now it has a special place in our heart.
Thanks to NetGalley and the author and publisher for this advanced copy!
First of all, thank you NetGalley for selecting me to listen to the audio version of this book. Let me just say, I only listen while driving, it's when I have the time to devote. I could hardly wait to get into the car and turn the book on. From the first few chapters all the way through, it kept me wanting more. The narration by Julie Rogers was great.
I especially loved how the story flowed. The characters felt like they were real and told real life circumstances. Little Ollie was a perfect addition.
I previously read an ARC of Love, Naturally, and was so excited to get the audiobook to review as well. Thank you to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for the ALC in exchange for my honest review.
Opposites sure do attract! This is another great sweet romance from Sophie Sullivan! LOVED the setting as much as I loved the characters and their chemistry (and that was a lot). The fish-out-of-water, found family, forced proximity, and small town tropes worked perfectly together here. Ollie tended to steal the show, as she is meant to, I bet. I enjoyed the narration on this audiobook and found it paired well with the story. Hoping we get books for the other Keller siblings next: I need more of Get Lost Lodge!
LOVE, NATURALLY, was a cute, clean romance that made me giggle as I listened to it. If I had been reading this with my eyes, I would have enjoyed it much less. Julie Rogers's narration was fun and fit well with the story.
Overall, it took the lively narration for me to connect with it because it was a slow start with some frustrating/unbelievable plot points that pulled me out of the story, so I'm thankful I read it this way. It's a cute romcom. I think Sophie Sullivan did a great job building her side characters and the town, but having the FMC give up her love of city life after a week was an eye roll. I did enjoy how Presley and Beckett got to know one another.
This was cute and an easy distraction from pain to lay and listen to, so I appreciate that from the story. It's not my favorite romcom, but it wasn't the worst. It's an easy read when you need a book that you know will end well or a good closed-door romance to recommend to those who ask.
Thanks, Macmillan Audio, for the gifted audiobook!
I absolutely love a romance set in a small town, where one of the characters is getting away from their "real life" for a bit. This one was no exception! It was so cozy and the romance was oh so sweet. All of the characters were adorable, especially Ollie!
Sophie Sullivan has been hit or miss for me in the past, but I am happy to report that this is a HIT and probably my favorite of hers to date. I would actually love if this turned into a series. I definitely need books for the brother and sister, but maybe also one for the chef! And one for the best friend? Honestly, there are endless possibilities here...
Love this and I, too, really want to live in Smile! Heck, I'd book a stay at the cabins if I could. It was nice to see a family story without all the drama and the love added made it a great read. It's the perfect escape!
Love, Naturally by Sophie Sullivan is an adorable opposites attract, small town romance. While I found the pacing a bit slow, a bit predictable and am not a fan of insta-love, I still found this audiobook enjoyable and was invested enough to finish it. Presley and Beckett are incredibly easy to root for. The narrator did a fabulous job. I'd absolutely love to read more from this author and would recommend Love, Naturally if you love a feel good, easy romance! I'd love to see this be a series for Beckett's siblings - mostly because I'd love more Ollie content! :)
Thank you to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for this Advanced Listener Copy!
I really enjoyed the first half of this book, but then it just went downhill for me. The book was just too long for a romcom so it felt like it just dried on. Also if you are a fan of Insta love, this book is not for you. The relationship was just not believable for me because they were developing these feelings after only knowing each other for a few days. I just couldn’t get behind that relationship. Overall, it was a cute, lighthearted, romcom, just not one of my faves.
SO ENDEARING. I really really enjoyed this book. I think the pacing was perfect and the dual pov is amazing. I loved the unique characters and all of their dynamics. The setting was so homey and immersive, i feel like it is a real place i could visit!
"Love, Naturally" is a captivating clean romance novel that seamlessly weaves love, healing, and nature into its pages. Set against the backdrop of a charming wilderness fishing resort, this novel introduces us to a heartfelt story that unfolds like a breath of fresh mountain air.
The narrative follows Presley, our resilient protagonist, a young woman who, in the aftermath of a recent breakup, goes on the vacation she intended to surprise her boyfriend with, at a picturesque fishing resort, that's still in the process of making a name for itself and under renovations. Presley herself works in the hospitality industry
The male lead, a dedicated and hardworking man, is engrossed in helping run the family business but also has dreams of opening his own business. The novel explores the complexities of balancing personal aspirations and family responsibilities. The author crafts a believable and endearing connection between the two main characters, allowing their romance to unfold.
I'm envious of the way the characters so naturally came to be and how they were so easy with each other from the beginning. I look forward to reading more from this author!
2.5 ⭐️I honestly struggled with this book so much! I wanted to like it and I tried really hard because I love a good small town book. I just couldn’t do it. I had a hard time connecting with these characters and it was very slow paced. It’s starts off with Presley trying desperately to reconnect with her boyfriend of 8 months by planning a whole trip for him for his birthday. He ends up being a major jerk and saying he would rather take someone else than spend 10 days with her. So she leaves and goes on the trip alone. She is definitely not a wilderness girl. She doesn’t like hiking or fishing or camping. She meets beckett on the boat ride over and it’s kind of a total insta love situation because they both end up falling very quickly. I was given an ALC for this book by NetGalley and this is my honest opinion on the book. The reader for this book was just not it for me. She did not capture my interest at all. I am definitely a person who likes to have a male and female narrator if it’s dual pov but I sometimes can push through it but not with her. I am positive that this book was just not for me but it for sure will be for others!!
This was a really cute book! It was a quick and easy read and I really fell in love with the characters. I also really enjoyed the narrator.
The fact that the main character Presley dumped the trash in the beginning is amazing. And she decides to go off on the vacation she planned for them on her own. That is such a moment. I enjoyed the premise of this book, but there is a case of insta love in this story. Insta love isn't something I tend to gravitate towards, so it felt a bit weird for me. Especially since she just left a relationship she felt was serious.
I am a sucker for cute relationships, but the way they ended up obsessed with each other fell sort for me.
I loved the small town environment, such locals are a favorite of mine for romances. The side characters were a delight to interact with. The forced proximity was definitely up my alley, and I enjoyed seeing that in this book.
I wasn't really a fan of the narrator for this story. I don't know exactly why, but I couldn't loose myself in the story.
All in, the book was very fast paced and had a lot of cute moments, but it just wasn't for me.
I love Sophie Sullivan/Jody Holford books. This was a clean RomCom that blossomed organically and made you fall in love with the entire cast. I usually do not get too invested but this one had me with the feels for sure. I may have even teared up at one point. You also laugh and find yourself truly rooting for the characters/family.
This book gave me all the Hallmark vibes and would love to see this turned into a movie.
Thank you NetGalley and MacMillan Audio for the advance copy of this book.
Thank you to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for this audiobook!
I was looking for a pick-me-up book after reading several thrillers and an emotional memoir. I found that with this book. I can truly appreciate "closed door" romances, because a lot of times if a book is super steamy, I skip right over it until the scene is over.
Who doesn't love a small-town romance with an opposites-attract vibe? Presley, who was thrust into this small town alone, because, guess what? Her boyfriend, whom she'd book this trip for, dumps her right before. And if you're reading this, you know you love a manly man. Beckett read super hunky and family-oriented (check and check).
Now, the things I can't see past. Falling in love takes more than 10ish days, which is how long they know each other. Lust? Adoration? Crushes? Yes, for sure. It's hard for me to swallow and can come off as cheesy and cringey. The writing wasn't bad, it was just a bit clunky for my taste. I do love little moments with stealing glances or an unspoken conversation over a crowd. Connections like that definitely happen.
Overall, it was a very very cute story, honestly, better than I expected to be. Like I said, I'm a big fan of closed-door romance. I'm going to rate this 3.5 stars!
After breaking up with her ex, Presley decides to take the trip she planned for him alone despite not being a fan of the great outdoors. When she gets there, she meets Beckett, who is trying desperately to save his family’s lodge. The two have instant chemistry, which makes them each question their own plans for the future.
Sophie Sullivan consistently writes lighthearted, feel-good romances and out of the four I read, this is definitely my favorite. I loved the outdoorsy setting and how easy it was to visualize the lodge/ cabins/ cast of characters and events. While the story was told in a dual POV, there was only one narrator, which made the audiobook not my favorite!
