Thanks NetGalley and MacMillan Audio for the advanced reader copy audiobook.

I'll get straight to it: we are given the POV of all three sisters, both present timeline and in the past. It felt (to me) very slow, and dragged a lot, and for a marketed as a suspense thriller, I never felt that way. It's clear from the beginning that all three sisters are unreliable and hold secrets, and as the picture of their family unfolds it's just as clear that though they are affluent they are not without their problems, aka they're very dysfunctional. Content and trigger warnings include murder of parents, profanity, domestic/childhood abuse, drug use, and by the time I had DNF'd there was same-gender activity. I gave up around 43% having not connected with it at all nor all that interested in how it would unfold. The characters are all unlikable and I just didn't care.

I absolutely loved this. Told from 3 POV’s and at least 3 timelines, keeping everything and everyone straight was the worst. But the story itself was perfect—exactly like a suspense novel should be. A small piece of the overall puzzle revealed regularly. An old abandoned house. A carriage house. Small town drama and politics. Red herrings. Secrets. Revealing who kept the secrets—but perhaps not entirely all of the secrets. Some characters were likeable (or at least sympathetic), while others were absolute trash humans. It was everything I hoped it would be.

I’d say 2.5-3⭐️The premise was a good one but it felt like there was so much happening without anything happening at all. The characters were not likable at all so I honestly didn’t care how things turned out in the end…and the end felt so underwhelming because so many twists and turns were thrown in along the way to try to throw you off track just for the sake of it, without any real effect to the plot. By like 50-60% in, I just wanted it to be done and know the ending instead of trying to guess with red herrings in every chapter. It was trying too hard to be a shocking thriller and fell way too short.

Deadly family secrets come to light in this domestic suspense featuring 3 estranged sisters whose parents were murdered. This is a twisty psychological suspense with a lot of shady characters with a lot of bad intentions. The gothic setting takes a front seat, giving this an eerily creepy vibe. The answers are provided to readers slowly, making this an intense build-up with a shocking ending. One of my favorite narrators makes this a huge hit on audio. For fans of Megan Miranda and Heather Gudenkauf.

I thought this was a really good twisty thriller. For me, the second half of the book was better than the first half due to the presence of a very annoying character that made me want to put the book down to avoid them for a while. This caused the first half of the book to take longer than usual for me to read. But once I was really engaged in the second half, the story moved quickly and was very interesting.

As I said, this one has a lot of twists. As soon as you think you have it all figured out another detail is dropped. I didn't know most of the reveals until I was meant to. I guessed at a few things, but wasn't 100% sure. I really enjoyed how it played out and the way the surprises were disclosed.

My only complaint is that there is a person in the book that is intentionally written to be unlikable. Unfortunately, they were written as too unlikable and "all bad" which made it unrealistic. It is a pet peeve of mine and makes the character very flat. Without giving anything away, this character made it very difficult to suspend my disbelief that certain things in the story ever would have happened.

Otherwise, I thought the story was well-written and I look forward to reading whatever Kate Alice Marshall puts out next.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Karissa Vacker, who did an excellent job. I would recommend this audio to listeners.

This is one of my favorite audio narrators, so I knew I'd probably enjoy this book, but it definitely exceeded my expectations. Though some of the twists felt pretty predictable and most of the characters were VERY unlikeable, this was an excellently twisty novel. If you love a small town full of secrets and a damaged, wealthy family, you'll definitely enjoy this one!

Was very intrigued by this synopsis. Really enjoyed the overall book, but there were a lot of different moving parts that could be a lot at times. I liked the different POVs and different timelines.

If you're looking for a murder mystery full of twists and turns that keep you guessing all the way through, you've found the one. There's a surprise around every corner, and just when you think you know what happened, someone gives a small detail that throws your whole theory into question. This is a sit down and read it all at once kind of book. Perfect for a day when you're stuck inside and need a little thrill.

I listened to the audiobook version of No One Can Know by Kate Alice Marshall, which was narrated by Karissa Vacker.

The story opens with main character, Emma who is left with no choice but to return to her deceased parents’ home with her husband, Nathan, after her husband loses his job and she discovers she is pregnant. Emma owns the house jointly with her estranged sisters whom she hasn’t spoken to in years. Returning home means that Emma is forced to reveal the secrets to her husband that her parents were murdered there, and she had been a suspect. Emma and her sisters have never spoken about what really happened that night. Now, her return to the house may lure her sisters back, but it will also crack open family and small-town secrets lots of people don’t want revealed. As Emma struggles to reconnect with her old family and hold together her new one, she begins to realize that the things they have left unspoken all these years have put them in danger again.

This was a pretty quick, gripping, and suspenseful read made even better by amazing narrator, Karissa Vacker. Kate Alice Marshall’s writing style kept me wanting more, and just when I felt like I had it all figured out, she threw another twisty revelation in there. And the ending! Holy Moly!

This was also my very first read (listen?) of a book by Kate Alice Marshall, and this book makes me want to read more. She is such a great storyteller! This is the perfect book to curl up with a blanket and cup of coffee and lose yourself in a story for a weekend.

I thank NetGalley, as well as, Macmillan and Macmillan Audio for this ARC of this audiobook. I am so grateful for the opportunity!

This was an enjoyable listen. I really liked that I had no idea who the bad guy was until the very end, and my mind was constantly changing. I liked the storytelling going between past and present with multiple POV of the sisters. This was a fun read, hard to read at times because of the abusive parents, but a very good mystery that had a good pace.

Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for my ALC of this story.

I really enjoyed this book. The narrator was great, the characters were well developed, and I liked that there was never a moment where I was positive I knew how the book was going to end. These days, the mystery/thriller genre always seems to follow the same template, ending with books becoming predictable. I did not feel that way at all about this book. I love how the author kept us guessing throughout the story. I liked how it was something different. I didn't feel like it was something I had already read before, and even though I have read several other thrillers since, I still remember this one. It stood out, and I can't recommend it enough.

I was a big fan of WHAT LIES IN THE WOODS and couldn’t wait to read this one. I enjoy the way Marshall writes her twists - they aren’t so outlandish that they are unbelievable and she does leave bread crumbs for the reader. The sisters' relationship was so interesting and perfectly flawed - it felt very real. This has a strong ending that fits the plot and wraps up loose ends nicely. I switched between the audiobook and ARC and would recommend either - my girl Karissa Vacker narrates this one well!

The audio narrator was good.

This one was alright but I didn’t like it as much as What Lies In The Woods.

There were parts that really interested me but I wasn’t like super on the edge of my seat or anything

This book was definitely more of a slow burn and I’m not sure that it’s something that’ll stick with me or anything like that.

This book had way too much happen at the end. I felt that there were way too many false leads and unnecessary twists. I certainly didn’t know what was going to happen at any given moment, but not in a good way. Everything was “resolved” very quickly and left me not even knowing exactly what happened. I had to read the last chapter twice just to make sure I had the right facts in order. I didn’t particularly care about or like any of the characters.

That being said, this book was still okay. I probably wouldn’t recommend it to anyone I know, but it was not a total waste of my time.

This book grabbed me from the beginning and didn't let go. There was a lot of twist and turns, especially on who-dun-it. I enjoyed going between past and present and it was easy to follow. Really enjoyed the storyline of estranged sisters, murdered parents, small town gossip, returning to their home & hometown. Definitely couldn't put this one down!

A solid three stars from me. Not great, not bad. I enjoyed the book while reading it but it won't leave a lasting impression on me. I read 2-4 thrillers a month and this one won't stand out in my memory. I think it's a good read for those who enjoy thrillers, but others will be more memorable. I also didn't care for the narrator's male accent in the audio.

Thank you so much to Macmillan audio and Netgalley for providing an advanced copy of this. All thoughts and opinions are still my own.

I absolutely love this authors YA horror and was excited to try this adult thriller from her. Unfortunately I just didn't love this as much as her other books.

I think that this had some fantastic themes and discussion surrounding abuse, power, and how those things affect who you are and grow up to be. And I loved all of those elements. The depictions of her parents' psychological abuse were horrifying. As well as how it changed and dictated how she acts today as an adult.

I also really liked the style - jumping between POV and time. It was smart way to reveal secrets and clues without info dumping or long internal monologue.

But I just found the mystery itself to be underwhelming and unsatisfying. I wanted a bigger reveal. Something more cohesive. Instead of it just... ending.

This was a wonderful multi perspective and timeline thriller. Every time I thought I had the murderer figured out, there would be a twist.

This book was fine - not amazing and not bad. One of those books that won't stay with me long after reading it, but was enjoyable while I read it. The characters were fine, the storyline was fine. Kind of slow and bland in parts, but also had the thriller feel and pull during other parts. I think I just wanted more of that "pull" or "hook" than I got. I didn't really like the characters, I wanted them to be more dynamic and likable, and less predictable. But again, this dislike did not ruin the book for me, just made it hard to love it. The book kind of felt similar to many other psychological thrillers I read, which may be why I wasn't hooked and dying to listen to it constantly. The end did not surprise me either. I just found it difficult to really connect with this book, but also never considered not finishing it.

Thank you netgalley for my advanced audio copy!

This was an interesting book, and definitely an interesting mystery/thriller.

This book is about 3 sisters and what happened to their parents 14 years ago, and merges into the now when one of them moves back into the house where everything happened. It is a book with three different story lines (one of each sister) and the now and then. But the author, Kate Alice Marshall does a good job of keeping everything well maintained within their respective timelines.

I have very mixed feelings about this book, and I think it is because I listen/read too many thrillers/mysteries. However, that doesn't mean it didn't make for an interesting listen and a good plot.

I figured out what happened pretty early on, but there were twists within the book that I did not see coming, so it did keep me on my toes. I did struggle with some of the characters in this book. I found one of the sisters, Emma, quite irritating and whiny. And sometimes her character didn't quite make sense to me, but then again, those with trauma make decisions I don't understand, and this is a fiction book.

I would say this book is for those who enjoy an interesting story (plot), interconnected stories, and don't have a trigger with mental/physical/emotional abuse.

I want to thank Netgally and Macmillan Audio for an advanced copy of this book.
