The audio narrator was good.
This one was alright but I didn’t like it as much as What Lies In The Woods.
There were parts that really interested me but I wasn’t like super on the edge of my seat or anything
This book was definitely more of a slow burn and I’m not sure that it’s something that’ll stick with me or anything like that.
This book had way too much happen at the end. I felt that there were way too many false leads and unnecessary twists. I certainly didn’t know what was going to happen at any given moment, but not in a good way. Everything was “resolved” very quickly and left me not even knowing exactly what happened. I had to read the last chapter twice just to make sure I had the right facts in order. I didn’t particularly care about or like any of the characters.
That being said, this book was still okay. I probably wouldn’t recommend it to anyone I know, but it was not a total waste of my time.
Thank you to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
3.5/5
This book grabbed me from the beginning and didn't let go. There was a lot of twist and turns, especially on who-dun-it. I enjoyed going between past and present and it was easy to follow. Really enjoyed the storyline of estranged sisters, murdered parents, small town gossip, returning to their home & hometown. Definitely couldn't put this one down!
Thank you, Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for an advanced audio copy of this book.
Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for this audio ARC in exchange for my honest review.
A solid three stars from me. Not great, not bad. I enjoyed the book while reading it but it won't leave a lasting impression on me. I read 2-4 thrillers a month and this one won't stand out in my memory. I think it's a good read for those who enjoy thrillers, but others will be more memorable. I also didn't care for the narrator's male accent in the audio.
Thank you so much to Macmillan audio and Netgalley for providing an advanced copy of this. All thoughts and opinions are still my own.
I absolutely love this authors YA horror and was excited to try this adult thriller from her. Unfortunately I just didn't love this as much as her other books.
I think that this had some fantastic themes and discussion surrounding abuse, power, and how those things affect who you are and grow up to be. And I loved all of those elements. The depictions of her parents' psychological abuse were horrifying. As well as how it changed and dictated how she acts today as an adult.
I also really liked the style - jumping between POV and time. It was smart way to reveal secrets and clues without info dumping or long internal monologue.
But I just found the mystery itself to be underwhelming and unsatisfying. I wanted a bigger reveal. Something more cohesive. Instead of it just... ending.
This was a wonderful multi perspective and timeline thriller. Every time I thought I had the murderer figured out, there would be a twist.
This book was fine - not amazing and not bad. One of those books that won't stay with me long after reading it, but was enjoyable while I read it. The characters were fine, the storyline was fine. Kind of slow and bland in parts, but also had the thriller feel and pull during other parts. I think I just wanted more of that "pull" or "hook" than I got. I didn't really like the characters, I wanted them to be more dynamic and likable, and less predictable. But again, this dislike did not ruin the book for me, just made it hard to love it. The book kind of felt similar to many other psychological thrillers I read, which may be why I wasn't hooked and dying to listen to it constantly. The end did not surprise me either. I just found it difficult to really connect with this book, but also never considered not finishing it.
Thank you netgalley for my advanced audio copy!
This was an interesting book, and definitely an interesting mystery/thriller.
This book is about 3 sisters and what happened to their parents 14 years ago, and merges into the now when one of them moves back into the house where everything happened. It is a book with three different story lines (one of each sister) and the now and then. But the author, Kate Alice Marshall does a good job of keeping everything well maintained within their respective timelines.
I have very mixed feelings about this book, and I think it is because I listen/read too many thrillers/mysteries. However, that doesn't mean it didn't make for an interesting listen and a good plot.
I figured out what happened pretty early on, but there were twists within the book that I did not see coming, so it did keep me on my toes. I did struggle with some of the characters in this book. I found one of the sisters, Emma, quite irritating and whiny. And sometimes her character didn't quite make sense to me, but then again, those with trauma make decisions I don't understand, and this is a fiction book.
I would say this book is for those who enjoy an interesting story (plot), interconnected stories, and don't have a trigger with mental/physical/emotional abuse.
I want to thank Netgally and Macmillan Audio for an advanced copy of this book.
As a huge fan of “what lies in the woods” I have to say I enjoyed this one even more!
“No one can know” follows the lives of 3 sisters whose parents where m*rdered when they were children. The situation surrounding the incident was suspicious at best, but all the sisters agreed to stick to the same story, they were all having a sleepover together in the treehouse, despite evidence pointing elsewhere.
What reason could the siblings have at such a young age to lie about their parents deaths?
Now fully fledged as estranged adults, they find themselves reunited when one sister has to return to their childhood home. After not being on speaking terms for the longest time tensions are high and grudges are being held.
But moving home will drag up the past and unearth secrets that are better left buried. Secrets that people would kill for.
I loved the alternation between past and present and seeing their childhood play out over time leading to current day events. I was a fan of the m*rder mystery aspect and the unique personalities of each sibling, their childhood selves and the people they grew into as adults.
I enjoyed the narration by Karissa Vacker she did a great job of portraying the characters. Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillion audio for giving me the chance to listen to the audio narration.
The story revolves around Emma and her estranged sisters and the horrific event that happened when they were just kids/teenagers. Their parents were murdered. When Emma returned to her childhood home because of some drastic changes with her life and her husband's then the story begins to unravel the truth. of what really happened that one dreadful night...
This books is full of twist. It keeps me on my toes and I feel like I've been playing the guessing game the entire time as I was reading this book. I definitely enjoyed the twist and the agony that it made me feel. It such an engaging book and I definitely feel like if psychological thriller and mystery is right up your ally then consider reading this book. You might enjoy it like I did. =)
Thank you to Macmillan Audio for the advance audio copy of this book.

Thank you to @NetGalley for letting me listen to the advanced audiobook in exchange for my honest review.
The twists and turns had me going and I was not expecting the ending! I liked the writing style of jumping back and forth in time to figure out whodunit. I also enjoyed the found family, with the happy ending.
The only thing lack luster for this book was the lack of depth for their years apart, 14 years can really make or break people.
Overall a good twisty story, I will have to check out her other books!
4.25⭐️
3 estranged sisters. One horrible night. No one knows the truth. Lots of small town rumors. Set in a home whose walls are filled with secrets.
An absolute page-turner, twisty roastercoaster of a read. I absolutely loved it.
I can’t explain it, please do not ask me, but I cannot get enough of plots that involve returning to homes/or places with sorid secrets buried in the walls but this delivered in spades.
Run don’t walk to pick up this amazingly fun and shocking thriller.
Another solid novel by Marshall. Her books are consistently entertaining and the narration of this was great. While I guessed the ending I didn’t mind. I was all in on this story and there was one part that actually totally shocked me so that’s a win in my book!
Huge thank you to @macmillan.audio and @netgalley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

3.5 ⭐, rounded up
I enjoyed the plot of this book, but it was very repetitive.
Three sisters were tortured at the hands of their parents who were murdered, most likely by one of their daughters (who could blame them honestly). The lack of communication between the sisters leads to them all covering for each other and nobody knowing what really happened. Years later: Emma is a simpering idiot (not an idiot, traumatized and allowing herself to continue to live that way), Daphne is a psycho, and Juliet acts tough but cares way too much.
The narrator did a great job portraying all the characters, present and past.
I enjoyed the book, would absolutely recommend it, just wish there was less back and forth in the middle.
I enjoyed this book, but not as much as "What Lies in the Woods" by Kate Alice Marshall. She does a great job with setting, but I didn't feel as connected to the characters in this book. I figured out several of the plot twists before they happened so it just fell a little flat for me. Overall though, I did enjoy the book and think it was solid.
YIKES!!! This one totally help my attention and I was listening as fast as I could (which in this case was x2 lol) This was amazing!! Oh these poor sisters!! Personally, I would have killed their sucky parents myself - they were horrible!! I did NOT see the ending coming (and I'm surely not going to share it here either) WOW!!! Would have appreciated a more grisly death for one of the mains, but eh - I can't have everything I want lol Thank you to Netgalley, Kate Alice Marshall, Karissa Vacker (Narrator) and Macmillan Audio for an advance listeners copy of No One Can Know. I LOVED IT!!
This book just wasn't for me. I couldn't connect with any of the characters and the twists were just meh. One thing I did like was the different timelines. I am always up for flashbacks.
I enjoyed this. I love the unreliable narrators and the way the story unfolded slowly, with details being added in as characters were revealed and/or opened up.
I received an advance copy. All thoughts are my own.
This book held my attention throughout. It was filled with well developed characters, whose narration was totally unreliable. I really never figured it out, which I absolutely love! I was wrapped up in the storytelling in this novel. I enjoyed the time jumps and all the back and forth really worked to keep the reader on edge and wondering what they would learn next. Very well done and enjoyable to listen to.
I've recently started listening to audiobooks, and this is one of the best that I've gotten through. The story is intriguing and kept me wanting to keep listening. The voices are easy to differentiate and the timeline is easy to keep up with.
I do think I could have enhanced the experience by reading a physical copy along with listening, but overall this is a story I could see myself picking up a physical copy of later.
