No One Can Know by Kate Alice Marshall is a fun thriller. Iโve not read anything by this author before, but she came highly recommended by friends. I found this to be a compelling read. I definitely stayed up way past my usual bedtime to finish it. I love the duel timeline as three sisters deal with the fallout from the murder of their parents 14 years later, as well as their experiences in the days just before the murders. I listened to the audiobook and the narrator was fantastic. I would give this 4 stars. I definitely look forward to reading more from the author.
Thank you to the author, NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Emma never imagined returning to the house she grew up in or ever seeing her sisters again. It has been 14 years since her parents were murdered in that house. Even worse, everyone thinks Emma did it. But, when times get tough, Emma is forced to move back home. The past comes right back up. Emma and her sisters have never spoken about what really happened that night her parents were murdered. As Emma and her husband begin to clean up the house, Emma realizes that she must find out what really happened once and for all.
Kate Alice Marshall tells this story alternating between the past and the present. Slowly, she feeds the reader information, little puzzle pieces for the reader to put together. I really enjoyed this one. The twists and turns were perfect. The narration by Karissa Vacker was superb as always. There are several different characters in the story, and I never felt lost because she seamlessly jumps from character to character. I highly recommend it to anyone that enjoys thrillers! I give it 4/5 stars.

Thank you Macmillan Audio and Netgalley for a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
I was very excited to read No One Can Know after reading What Lies in the Woods last year and enjoying it. This book did not disappoint. I read the book and listened to the audiobook at the same time.
When Emma and her husband, Nathan, go through a tough time, they are forced to return to her childhood homeโthe home where she and her two sisters lived and where both of her parents were murdered. Being forced to return to town, Emma needs to tell Nathan that most of the town thinks that Emma killed her parents. After the murder, the three sisters split ways without talking about what happened. When they reunite, they face the secrets they've been keeping for years.
The narrator, Karissa Vacker, has quickly become one of my favorite narrators. She does a great job using her voice to change for each character. It makes it easy to follow, especially dialogue. Her pacing was nice. I think I would listen to her read me my grocery list. I would highly recommend this audiobook to any listeners out there who love mystery.

The story started out good and engaging. But it just started to drag.
It needed to be tighten up. Some of the characters I was invested in but I had difficulty caring about them. It twisted okay but a lot people just not talking and that troupe of miscommunication/understanding can bog down a story. The relationships were nicely written and you felt the sisters connections. Author has a good flow of writing and will read again.

Great premise and narration. The opening and closing scenes especially were well written. It was easy to get sucked into this book while following the sisters' lives and what they were doing. A few good twists. However, as I followed along, I was able to guess the murderer before the final reveal.
I would like to thank Kate Alice Marshall, NetGalley and MacMillan Audio for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Everyone keeps secrets but those secrets can be deadly. This story follows three estranged sisters that reunite years after the tragic death of their parents. But who really killed their parents, Emma, JJ, or Daphne.
I really enjoyed the different perspectives shared of that tragic night by the sisters and how it helped you fill in the blanks along the way. I just knew I had it figured out half way through.
This book had more twist and turns than a rollercoaster ๐ข and at some points I was a little confused. However, it ended with a thrill that I didnโt see coming. Oh btw if Karissa Vacker narrates it Iโm going to listen!

This book was really slow and drawn out.it didn't feel like there was any action or suspense at all. No twists. Very boring.

I listened to the audiobook and thought the narrator did a good job. I enjoyed the story about a woman going back home after her sister was murdered and her father was convicted of the death. Not everything is as it seems. I liked the characters.

This book started off so strong and sucked me in until about halfway when the story began to drag and lost my attention. This felt like another small town crime story that is overtold. There were also way too many "who did it" theories and that kept getting more and more obscure and got boring.
Although I felt like the book dragged on by the end I did feel like the character development for the three sisters was well done but the secondary characters like Gabriel and Nathan was lacking. While I'm not always a fan of books with time hops I felt like it actually really worked in this book and encouraged me to continue listening in order to find out the truth. The short chapters were well crafted and helped move the story along.
I listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed the performance by Karissa Vacker and her narration helped bring the story and characters to life.

I read What Lies in the Woods and then waited zero days to dive into No One Can Know, Kate Alice Marshallโs second adult mystery/thriller. Not only did I get my hands on the ARC from Flatiron Books and the ALC from MacMillan Audio, but I also chose the BOTM edition for my December box.
Emma is in a tight spot. Her husband Nathan loses his job and she finds out they are unexpectedly pregnant. They have no choice but to return to Emmaโs childhood home she owns with her two sisters. They havenโt spoken in 14 years, since the night their parents were murdered in the very same home. Emma was immediately convicted by the court of public opinion of the heinous crime, but the three sisters never hashed out what exactly happened that night. But Emma and Nathanโs presence in town is bringing up old memories and older grudges, and its not long before the truth slowly begins to come to light.
This second (adult) novel was great! There were many twists and turns along the way that had me pulling my hair out. I made so many notes and highlights trying to figure it out! There are so many suspects for the original crime, and really any one of them could have easily had the motive and means to commit the murders. This made for a fun read. One thing I particularly loved was the relationship of the sisters- each of the characters were quintessentially developed for their birth order and role in their strained family.
No One Can Know had me furiously turning the pages, desperate for answers. What more can you want from a thriller? I absolutely recommend this book! Thank you to MacMillan Audio for the ALC in exchange for my review.

Title: No One Can Know

I did not want to stop listening to this story! Secrets, betrayals, twists and turns galore. When the end came, I finally came up for air but, really didnโt want the story to end.
Three sisters have secrets going back to the night their parents were murdered. After the murders, the sisters are separated and they donโt talk about that night. Fast forward years, one sister moves back into the house where the murders took place. The sisters all have to agree what will happen to their childhood home so, in order for the sister live there, they have to communicate again. This homecoming will open Pandoraโs box. Secrets will come spilling out. Can the sisters protect one another? Will the community let sleeping dogs lie? Who is guilty and of what exactly?
The narratorโs voice sounds just like what Iโd imagine Emmaโs to sound like. She hit all the right notes that highlighted charactersโ emotions and building tension when needed. I would happily listen to her storytelling any time.
Thank you #NetGalley and #MacmillanAudio for the opportunity to hear this story and review it. #NoOneCanKnow

Kate Alice Marshall is a phenom when it comes to keeping you on the edge of your seat. Fast-paced, intrigue, suspense, a real whodunit until the end.

This book was a solid 4 stars up until the last tenish chapters. Let me explain.
This is the story of three sisters, Emma, Juliet (JJ), and Daphne, who grew up in an emotionally and sometimes physically abusive home. The third person narration jumps between the three sisters' perspectives both in present day and in the past. In the present, we mostly follow Emma especially in the beginning. The catalyst for the story is Emma and her dickhead husband Nathan moving back into the family home where their parents were murdered. She was under suspicion at the time and the memories of the small town police and neighbors runs long.
Everyone is keeping a secret. Some are keeping other peoples' secrets. Emma needs to figure out who actually killed her parents to clear her name and reputation. Especially when another tragedy strikes and she is once again in the polices' crosshairs.
I was all in through the first like 60%. The pacing was great and revealed just enough in each flip-flop between past and present to make it interesting and hold my attention. I was surprised by the twist midway through. The writing was compelling and well done; the dialogue didn't seem stilted or forced; and I found the characters interesting (although not necessarily likable). I also enjoyed that pretty much everyone had a motive, opportunity, and means. The narrator of the audiobook was good. Her emotions were spot on and helped my enjoyment of the story. She got a little quiet and breathless at times and her voice for the younger versions of the sisters was a little too young (Daphne was supposed to be 12 but sounded like she was 6).
Then the plot started to unravel. I am a bit annoyed at the "I blacked out so I can't remember anything" plot device - especially when it involves drugs and alcohol. It did fit with the character, and it was only one of the characters, but still, can we find something better for a thriller? Then the last ten chapters were just too much. I thought the story was over - big climax, most of the questions "answered." And I realized I still had about an hour left to listen to. Then it was another minor reveal right at the end, and then another one, and another one. Until, ten chapters later, I was still listening to the book I thought could have ended at three times already. And the big reveal at the end was what I thought it was going to be from the beginning, so not really a big reveal at all (especially for this reader).
I also found the numerous sub-plots to be a bit much and maybe not quite necessary.
Still - I enjoyed the majority of this thriller. The chapters are short and keep the pace moving. It was a quick read for me. So, I've landed on 3.5 stars. (rounded down for Goodreads...)
Thank you to NetGalley, Kate Alice Marshall, and the publisher for allowing me to review this ARC copy of the audiobook.

Heart-throb & twisty thriller mixed together. I really enjoyed the twists and turns. It kept me guessing and engaged. I definitely am looking forward to more of this authors adult books!

No One Can Know has lots of interesting plot points that were unexpected and intriguing. I was quickly drawn in by the three sisters who lost touch after the horrific night when they lost their parents. While I HATED one character, the three sisters were all great, each having forged their paths and dealt with the trauma of their childhoods in their own ways.
I enjoyed this story's twists, and while I was able to guess at some of the story's turns, a lot of it was a fun surprise, and kept me ready to read more!

Everybody is calling this heart-pounding, thrilling, and edge of your seat and I'm just confused. This book was dull. So very, very dull and repetitive. I'm starting to feel that people are only reviewing books to NetGalley positively to get more freebies and suck up to the publishers, WHICH DESTROYS THE POINT OF ARCS!
Anyway, back to No One Can Know.
I'm going to save you the time without explicitly telling you spoilers: everything is exactly what you think. There are no twists. If you have a suspicion about anything, yay! You are correct.
Rounding up from a 1.5 to a 2 because it wasn't offensively bad, just not very good.

WOAH. I did not expect to love this as much as I did! Itโs been a minute since Iโve read a thriller that pulled me in like this one did.
Itโs told from the perspective of three sisters in a then/now style. Their parents are murdered when theyโre teens, and they spend their whole lives hiding the truth. When another tragedy happens, they have to face the truth together.
I really enjoyed the narration for this one! I did see the main twist coming, but there were other twists that I didnโt catch. Still really enjoyed it!

I enjoyed this dark family drama, but it didn't stick with me all that well. Just a few days later and I'm having trouble remembering pieces, despite noting spoilers! I do know that I was eager to piece together what happened the night that the sisters' parents died.
The book was well-paced, and I listened nearly straight through. I enjoyed the suspense and didn't feel bored at any point.
I enjoyed what I remember of the reveal, there were just a couple of "why's" that I can't quite recall. There's a lot thrown at the reader at the end, and it was a little hard to keep straight. Overall, I liked Marshall's previous book better, but this one was a good pick as well.
Karissa Vacker is one of my favorite narrators, so her performance was a blast to listen to. She nails the tension in these thrillers every time!

I really enjoyed this dual-timeline thriller. There were so many twists and turns. I found the characters to be so interesting. This thriller will literally have you on the edge of your seat.
