Thank you to #NetGalley for the ARC of this book.

Emma's husband has been hiding their financial troubles from her. This leads them to moving back to her childhood home; the home where her parents were murdered when she was a teenager. Emma has barely spoken with her sisters Juliette and Daphne since that night. But as they jointly own the house, this will have to change.

Many people in their hometown think that Emma is responsible for her parents' deaths. Emma hasn't shared any of this with her husband either. Secrets begin to unfold for everyone involved, old and new, and now that she's back in her hometown, she may have placed herself in immediate danger.

I really enjoyed Marshall's book "What Lies in the Woods," so I was happy to received this ARC. The premise of the novel was very good, but I feel like it was lacking in some of the execution. There were small details and inferences that would have made for a more believeable twist and ending. It wasn't a bad read by any means, but fairly predictable.

Something I really love about Kate Alice Marshalls writing is how she trickles in the reveals. Enough to shock you and keep you wanting for more while also leaving you with questions on what the truth is. I absolutely loved What Lies in the Woods and I'm happy to say that this one was another winner for me! This book had so many moments where I was audibly saying 'What?!' and dropping my jaw.

Now, I will admit, the plot isn't crazy unique since it follows a lot of tropes that are within the thriller category. But thats where I think Kate Alice Marshalls writing excels because she makes it interesting and different through her timing and pacing.

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me the Audiobook arc for an honest review. I also purchased this book through BotM to have a physical copy. I am officially a fan of Kate Alice Marshall.

This was my first by the author and it was definitely a fun thriller that kept me guessing right until the very end. I thought Karissa Vacker did an absolutely fantastic job narrating this book. I did have a few issues with the story- one being the pacing. I felt like it went at a fairly steady pace until the end when everything happened at once making the story feel unnecessarily chaotic. I also found myself just really wanting to know who committed the murders and the journey getting there felt all over the place. Having said that, I was entertained and engaged and will read another by this author. Thank you so much NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for this ARC!

I enjoyed the audio of this book. The narrator was exceptional and kept the story interesting. A story about three sisters and their familial roles at its core with the unsolved murder of their parents thrown in there for some mystery and suspense. I liked the past and present aspects of the story and I feel it provided better character development and helped to move the story along.

This is a great story about family trauma and how far we will go to protect the people we love most. I loved the characters, the twists and the ending. "No One Can Know" is very well written, keeping my attention throughout the entirety of the book. Katie Alice Marshall is turning into a go to author for me!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in advance of publication.

No One Can Know is a mystery surrounding three estranged sisters and the murder of their parents. Alternating between now and then chapters as well as each sister’s POV, the writing hooked me in immediately. While the build up was a slow burn, there were a lot of twists in the last quarter of the book, making it a fun popcorn thriller. Plus, having two sisters myself, I love how this dived into complex sister relationships and the lengths they would go to protect each other. I will say, I figured out who the culprit was prior to the end reveal, but I think that goes with small-town mysteries as there are usually less suspects. Such a fun and bingey listen via audbiobook format.

Read if you like:

No One Can Know is a mystery with so many twists and turns, I had to keep listening to find out the true killer.

When Emma and her husband's life gets turned upside down, Nathan suggests living in the house that was left to Emma and her sisters when her parent's died. Nathan knew Emma's parents were dead, but now Emma has to admit they were murdered in the house and Emma was the police's #1 suspect. Emma soon finds out what she suspected, in a small town like Arden Hills, no one forgets. She has not talked to her sisters since her parents were murdered, but Emma's return may bring her sisters back to the house, determined to keep their secrets to themselves.

This book captivated me. I enjoyed the two timelines of the present and around Emma's parents' murder. There were so many motives for the murder that every time I thought I figured out who did it, another timeline would change my mind. I was surprised but pleasantly happy with the ending. I loved Emma as a character. Not only did she protect her sisters during the police's interrogation, but she was also determined in finding the true killers after coming back to the house. I was rooting for her to find her happy ending. However, I was not a fan of Emma's sisters or husband.

Overall, No One Can Know was a great mystery/thriller that kept me engaged and wanting to know more.

I highly recommend the audiobook for No One Can Know. I enjoyed the narrator for this book and enjoyed the wide array of voices for each of the characters. If you are planning on reading this book, the audiobook is the way to go.

No One Can Know releases on January 23rd, 2024.

Thank you to NetGalley and MacMillan Audio for the opportunity to listen to No One Can Know. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was a fun and twisty mystery! Just when I thought I had everything figured out, Kate Alice Marshall threw me a curve-ball and I was back to square one trying to figure out who the killer was.

This is the second Kate Alice Marshall book I have read and I will definitely look for more of Kate's books in the future. They have a quick pace and they keep you interested from the second you pick them up.

Karissa Vacker did a fantastic job narrating this novel and I will continue to look for books narrated by Karissa in the future (that happens to be how I found this one).

I found myself listening to the No One Can Know audiobook late into the night, knowing I’d have a hard time due to lack of sleep the next day. Few books have the power to keep me up that late during the work week, but this one did! I just had to finish it and find out what really happened. There were some gasp-worthy moments with twists I didn’t see coming that kept me wanting more! The icing on the book cake is that it was narrated by one of my favorite audiobook narrators, Karissa Vecker. I’m so glad I had the opportunity to listen to this audiobook. The story along with Karissa’s narration really made it spectacular.

I was ready to give this book a 4/5 with the way it caught my attention at the beginning. It sucked me right in. But it left me feeling a little disappointed. I kept waiting for the spice, the jaw dropping moment, but I couldn’t find it.

3.5 stars. Emma never told anyone what happened the night her parents were killed. Neither did her sisters, Daphne and Juliette. But years after the murders, Emma and her husband, Nathan, d=find themselves in a precarious financial position and Emma is pregnant. Having no other options, Emma returns home to Arden Hills, to the home where her parents were murdered. But Arden Hills has a long memory and many people still think Emma is to blame for their deaths. This is the story of the secrets between sisters and the ties that bind.

This was gifted by the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

This is the second book that I’ve read from this author. I enjoyed the last book so I had high expectations going into this one. we are following the story of three estranged sisters coming back to their childhood home. they’ve drifted apart over the years as when they were younger their parents were murdered, and one of them was aimed for the murders. However, when you get into it, all of the sisters had motive to kill them, so who actually killed their parents?

Th author does female friendships and relationships really well and those tend to be the parts of the story that I enjoy the most. The mystery was predictable, but overall I still had a good time. I would recommend this book!

Thanks to Macmillan Audio for granting me access to this audiobook!

When Emma is in a tough situation, her husband suggests they move in her parents’ home, where they were murdered years ago. The goal is for them to go there and renovate to house while they are getting back on their feet. As soon as they arrive in Emma’s childhood home, elements from her past come back to the surface, having her question everything that happened before and after her parents’ death. Emma has two sisters with whom she has had no contact with in more than 10 years. Her sisters and their secrets are also brought forth in Emma’s search for the truth about what really happened to her family, and who is truly responsible for her parents’ passing.

Good novel about the complicated relationships that can be found in certain families and wanting to protect your loved ones. Some parts of the story were longer, I found myself not really paying attention to chapters talking about Emma’s relationship with her husband because it seemed repetitive (how they don’t really get along, how he is a bit controlling, etc). I get why some chapters about their relationship were important, but it still seemed a bit too detailed and redundant at times. Still an entertaining read overall!

Thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for an advanced reader copy of this audiobook in exchange for my honest review. No One Can Know chronicles the lives of Emma and her two sisters, the murders of their parents, and Emma's return to her hometown (and the scene of the murders, her childhood home) in the wake of her husband's unemployment and her unexpected pregnancy. Kate Alice Marshall weaves an intricate mystery, and throughout the book, I was left guessing as to the identify of the murderer. However, while the beginning and ending were particularly compelling, I became bored by the middle of the book, as multiple characters, perspectives, reveals, and time jumps made for a non-linear and somewhat overwhelming listening experience.
Karissa Vacker did a fine job as the narrator, but I think I would have enjoyed this story more in print - rather than audio - form.

3.5 stars. Emma returns to her childhood home when she and her husband run out of other options. The thing is, Emma's parents no longer live in the home, because it's where they were murdered when Emma and her two sisters were children. The girls have never spoken about what happened that night, but suspicion runs deep all around, and when someone else turns up dead on the property, Emma is starting to fear she's made a terrible mistake by returning.

I was hooked into this story pretty much from the first page, and it held my interest throughout the book. I will say, there were so many twists at the end that I got a little turned around and had to go back once or twice, but overall I enjoyed the ride and the various reveals. It's a pretty short read, so if you're looking for a thriller you can binge in a day, this is definitely an option for you!

Thank you to Kate Alice Marshall, Flatiron Books, Macmillan Audio, and NetGalley for my advance audio copy.

Where do I start with this one?! Thriller is not typically my genre of choice, but with cozy season settling in, I find myself reaching for it more and more. @NetGalley sent me the early audio of this one and it did not disappoint. It was thriller and mystery and so many messy things all wrapped up in a pretty stepford bow.

Told from the perspective of three sisters in dual timelines, we are trudged through the mystery of their parents death and the aftermath of what their decisions after have rippled into. After their parents murder, the sisters were separated and any relationship they had was severed. Emma, the now steadfast and borderline unfeeling middle child, was once the rebellious and testing sister. Juliette, the oldest, was once the perfect piano playing daughter but time and the weight of secrets have morphed her into a very different person than the one her sisters knew 14 years ago. And Daphne, the youngest and most misunderstood, has moved on by stepping from one persona to another, never getting too attached to anything other than keeping the secrets that have held her together.

When Emma’s life starts to unravel, she is brought back to the family estate and things continue to unravel even further. Secrets are revealed, past events rush back to memory and relationships are tested. As each secret is pieced together, more of the story starts to make sense and the once strained relationship between these sisters starts to heal.

I enjoyed this story so much more than I anticipated. Each secret kept was justified and steeped in reasoning. The motive for each character was warranted. I had a feeling about who did it and was surprised to be proven wrong at the very end. I love when a book can surprise me and this one did just that.

No One Can Know is a wild read!

Messed up family dynamics, lies, secrets, deceit, small-town bias, and murder fill the pages. Every time I thought I had it figured out, something new was revealed that knocked me sideways.

The characters aren’t super likable, but they’re definitely interesting. I wanted to slap sense into Emma, and I wanted to see her husband fall into a pit of hungry spiders.

Karissa Vacker narrates the audiobook and, as always, she nailed every nuance. I highly recommend the audio experience.
