My favorite author...writes the craziest mysteries. The writing is exquisite, the twists and turns are phenomenal, the ride is mesmerizing; you'll never see it coming!!! Fisher is a master in her craft and it definitely shows in this book. Iris' story is heartbreaking and thrilling all in the same sense. Once I picked it up, I could barely put it down!

I adored Good Half Gone! Twisty, and dark with a strong level of family drama. I wanted everyone to believe Piper, but at the same time, I didn’t know if I believed her! I kept second guessing everything I knew about the characters throughout the whole book!

I love reading Tarryn Fisher so I always get excited when a new book of hers comes out (never mind that I still need to read most of her backlist), and Good Half Gone did not disappoint. This book was WILD especially at the end, and it left my jaw on the floor. I did find myself getting a little confused with the past and present timelines as they felt a touch too similar despite the differences, and I think I almost would have preferred the storyline be set completely in present day. Since they got muddled together in my head, it took away from them both a bit for me.

The audiobook for Good Half Gone is fantastic with Tara Sands as the narrator, and though that might have played into my confusion around the two timelines a bit, I still think listening is the way to go. I also thought the setting of a psychiatric hospital on an island was creepy AF (Alcatraz Island anyone?!) and I love me an isolated location, so this one was top-notch. I will say that the middle moved a little slow but the ending more than made up for it in my mind. Read this if you love unreliable narrators, being entertained while suspending disbelief, and being completely blindsided by big twists!

This was an enthralling read from start to finish. The novel centers on Iris Walsh, who witnessed her twin sister, Piper, being kidnapped when they were teenagers—a traumatic event that no one else seemed to believe. Years later, Iris is still haunted by Piper’s disappearance and is determined to uncover the truth.

Fisher masterfully weaves a narrative that alternates between past and present, gradually revealing the complexities of the sisters’ relationship and the dark secrets that lie beneath the surface. The setting of the isolated Shoal Island Hospital for the criminally insane adds an eerie atmosphere that heightens the suspense.

The character development is particularly compelling. Iris’s relentless pursuit of the truth showcases her resilience and determination, making her a protagonist worth rooting for. The twists and turns kept me guessing, and just when I thought I had it figured out, Fisher threw in another surprise that left me reeling.

Tarryn does it again.
I’m always astounded with how she can completely enrapture you in the first chapter. And this was no exception. I loved the then and now storyline. It helped see things from all sides and truly keep you invested in the story. I also loved Iris’ persistence and how she never gave up on her sister.

There is a spooky element that I ate up as well. And the twists! I just cannot properly put into words how I was not ready for that ending!

Unfortunately, I did not enjoy this one as much as previous books by this author. The plot seemed far-fetched, but also not particularly unique. I wish some of the extraneous, unnecessary plot points had been removed so that we could focus on the main conflict. I found myself not running to pick this one up and having to force myself to get through it.

Finally got around to reading Tarryn Fisher's latest, and she does it again! I felt like I flew through this one.

I really enjoy her writing style. The setting (a psychiatric hospital on an island you can only get to and from by boat? No thanks) really added to the overall uneasiness of the story. It was pretty twisty, and the ending had me surprised!

This had potential to be a five-star for me but the timeline switched back and forth a lot and I felt like I was missing information during certain parts. Having said that, this was still a pretty solid thriller from Tarryn Fisher.

This was a great page turner of a book. I enjoyed the characters and enjoyed the plot, that kept me up until the wee hours of the morning. The. main character feels unreliable, while you take in the unbelievable story of a childhood plagued by the kidnapping of a sibling and after math of the experience. What happens when no one believes you - you take things into your own hands and explore the dark side, achieving a college degree that gets you a job to test your theory. Your heart goes out to the family and sister that experienced such a tragedy but what's true and what is just the lingering memories of a teenager from a traumatic experience from years ago. You'll be surprised all the way up until the last page!

A quick read, picked up at the end. Unfortunately, I felt bored up until about 80% but I pushed through because I really wanted to know what the heck happened to the twin.

A low 4. The first half of this book I truly couldn't put down. It was so well written, easy to get into, and the audiobook narrator was great. At about the 60 percent mark things went a little downhill for me. I still enjoyed it, but I didn't love the turn it took. I also thought the ending was much too rushed, and ultimately, I wished there was a more satisfying and realistic resolution.

I struggled to get through this novel. The main character is unlikable and felt very unreliable. Then in the last of the novel the action begins and is complete out of left field, and unbelievable. It was like there was a thread of a plot then it was combined with another plot idea for a different novel and the end result is Good Half Gone.

This book was one of my least favorite books by Tarryn. I expected a suspenseful story that I found didn’t have any “meat” or suspense until the end. I didn’t feel invested in the plot or the characters.

No surprise that I loved this book! Tarryn is a favorite author of mine and this book did not disappoint!

i never saw the twist coming and i was glued to the pages to continue and find out what happens next.
her writing style is unlike any i have seen before.

I didn’t care for this book. I had to push myself to finish it. It wasn't a can't put it down type of read. I was initially drawn when the two sisters, Iris and Piper, head to the movies together. Piper disappears in broad daylight and although the police do investigate, the case soon goes cold. Iris just can't let the case go and it takes over her life. She spends all her time trying to solve the murder and even ends working at a psychiatric hospital where she believes the murder is. The story was hard to fellow and was all over the place. I felt l knew the plot and twists before they happened. Some of the story felt over the top and unbelievable.

This was a fast paced thriller that I raced through quickly. I did guess all the twists so it wasn't as exciting as it could have been but I still really enjoyed it!
