This book was ok. The plot sounded very interesting and fast paced, which initially grabbed my attention. The beginning of the book does exactly that, then it really slows down and makes you feel a bit lost, then the end gets so ramped up, it's like a completely different book.
The book switches between past and present, giving you just a bit of history and piecing the whole story together each time the story brings you to the past. The book definitely has some tough subject matter written in the pages, kidnapping, sex trafficking, child abuse, and murder.

I really enjoyed this book. Told from a single POV but with two timelines, I think the author did a great job at clarifying when a chapter was from the “past” or “present” in a way that did not detract from the reading experience. The characters were well developed despite the single POV, however frustrating at times. I was hooked from the first pages, and this roller coaster of a ride did not disappoint. Although I did guess one of the twists, I still enjoyed both this book as a whole and the unique story that the author told. I would recommend this for anyone who enjoys a good thriller novel!

I am so frustrated because this one had so much potential being set on an island with a psych ward 😔 but needless to say I didn’t love it. I found it to be a physically painful read the majority of the time. I even fell asleep at one point because I was so bored. 🥱

I've been a Tarryn Fisher fan from the beginning so my review may be biased! Iris and Piper are 15 year old twins who one day go out to the movies with friends, little do they know how their lives will change after this day. Iris watches on in horror as Piper is kidnapped, even worse the police do not want to help find her. Told in present day and flashbacks this is a fast paced thrill ride to find out what really happened to Piper.

This is a two timeline story, past and present. The beginning sucked me in, and then it just kind of stuttered. I found 75% was just meandering through Iris's day (both past and present), with subplots that were not needed, and only towards the end did it pick up. I am sure there will be some readers who will enjoy Good half gone, but this was just not for me.

This was my second novel from Tarryn Fisher, first was an Innocent Lie.
It took me a few times to get into it, I was about to give up, I am glad I didn't.
This book was really good and I have to say I had my suspicions for the ending, but I was wrong, well semi wrong. I don't want to spoil anything!

I love Tarryn Fisher and was really looking forward to this one.

I loved the dual timeline of young Piper and Piper today, and the peeling back of what happened. Fifteen year old Piper watched her sister be kidnapped, and police didn't believe her for the longest time. Current day Piper is in her twenties with a son. She gets and internship at a creepy mental hospital for criminals, and we learn soon she has an ulterior motive.

I liked Iris and her grandmother. The relationship with her son. And her commitment and determination with regard to knowing what happened to her sister.

I didn't love the ending and that was the only disappointing part for me. Overall a great read.

Pros:
The last quarter of the book had a few unexpected fun twists that I didn't see coming.

Overall this was a pretty quick and easy read.

Cons:
The first 3/4 or so of the book wasn't overly engaging. It felt like it was a bit difficult to get into. There was a lot of focus on family dynamics more so than adding to the thriller aspect of the story.

Parts of the book were pretty predictable. There were parts of the book I was able to figure out fairly early on.

Overall:
This was a quick and easy read but unfortunately fell short for me as a whole. I wanted more of the thriller and mystery from the beginning. It likely wouldn't be a book I'd recommend. I'd give it 2.5 stars.

THIS. WAS. SO. GOOD. Tarryn NEVER disappoints and I never hesitate to pick up something she has written. Good Half Gone was suspenseful and thrilled and I couldn’t get enough of it! So many twists and turns

Claustrophobic, creepy and intriguing. It was good read even if it's not my favourite by this author as I found it a bit too slow at times

The plot starts with one of the twins being abducted and the police not believing it and this leads to her disappearance going cold & fast.

Then years later the other twin, now a parent, is determined to figure out what happened 8/9 years prior to her sister.

Then in comes the locker room vibes with a Shutter Island feeling ambiance to the writing and setting at a hospital for the criminally insane where she believes answers are regarding her sister’s disappearance.

This is a book you definitely have to suspend reality for.

Iris Walsh craves to close her twin sister’s cold case. The police didn’t believe her when her sister was taken and she has never been able to move on with her life without knowing what happened her Piper. I absolutely felt for Iris in this addictive page turner, I could feel her pain and guilt. Her emotions jumped off the page striking me in the chest. As always Fisher kept me on the edge of my seat, craving answers until the very last page, and then of course I wanted to throw things. Such a good read!!

Tarryn Fisher's books have always been pretty hit or miss for me and while this wasn't a terrible read, it wasn't my favorite that I've read from her.

I was immediately drawn into the story by the twin sister being kidnapped, and of course the police are brushing it off as typical teenage behavior and not taking it seriously. The thing that really disappointed me about it was that it wasn't that thrilling until probably 20%. A lot of it was family and character growth with Iris trying to find out what happened to her sister, which is fine, but it made a lot of the story dull for me. It felt like a long distracting road that I quickly lost interest in and pretty much skimmed until the crazy ending started. I really just wanted more suspense and thrills out of this one but it did redeem itself a little with its beginning and end.

The book fell short of its potential. The first 80% of the book was a family drama and a tough life story. It did become a mystery along the way but not a thriller with twists and turns. The final 20% of the book was slightly better which earned the third star. This book is not for me. Sorry but I would not recommend this book to others.

The one thing the twin's grandmother told Iris and her sister when they walked out the door to be cautious and especially Iris to look out for her sister. Those words would haunt Iris when her sister was taken from her grip. Even the police would not investigate and believe her until it was too late. Now Iris is an adult and wants to find out what happened to her. She becomes an intern at the Shoal Island Hospital because she believes the person who took Piper is inside it. While she is investigating/working, she falls in love with the handsome and flirty Dr Grayson.
A creepy premise and unsettling feeling takes an unusual twist. Some have found it unusual, but I still enjoyed the author's writing although it was not my favorite of hers. I was excited to get this ARC.

Tarryn Fisher is one of my favorite authors, I LOVED her book The Wives and highly recommend that one if you haven’t read already.

When Iris and Piper (twins) were only fifteen years old, tragedy struck; Piper was kidnapped while at the movies. The police didn’t seem to care too much about the disappearance of the twin at first but as time went on with no sign or word from her, they began investigating more thoroughly. Years later, In an effort to expose the truth about Piper’s disappearance , Iris takes on a role as an employee at the secluded hospital where his suspected kidnapper resides. Not everything is what it seems…

This book started out so strong and had me hooked, I finished it in one sitting. I honestly don’t know how to feel about the ending, I thought it felt rush? The twist was still nice and didn’t see it coming at all. This was still a good fast read and I recommend you add it to your tbr👌🏽

Great new read by Tarryn Fisher. Fast paced and great character development hooked me quickly and kept me reading. Highly recommended!

Fisher’s thrillers are riveting and unputdownable. I love the feeling of the suspense running through my mind and making my heart race in anticipation. The whodunnit was raving through my mind the entire read, the need to know what happened to Piper not allowing me to put down the book and when I was forced to because of life, I was constantly thinking about it.
I love how Fisher is able to evoke emotions from her writing and the shock I felt at the twist was overwhelming. Truthfully I miss her days of writing romance and hope to see her return there, but she has taken the thriller writing to new levels and I always sit with bated breath for her next release. I wish the ending didn’t feel so rushed but overall it was exciting and well written. Well done.
