Thank you to the author, the publisher, and Netgalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for my review.

Where to start? This book was NOT my favorite. It started out strong but slowly just kind of veered off in like eight different directions. I was able to read it in one sitting and it had Tarryn Fishers' signature style but it just bombed for me.

Piper and Iris are twin sisters. They are opposites but deeply connected. When Piper is kidnapped, Iris’ life will never be the same. Iris and her grandmother try to go on and live life with a piece of their heart missing.
This is a suspenseful thriller that will take you through many twists and turns while Iris tries to find the proof about her sister and her kidnapping.
I was on the edge of my seat throughout the story.
And that ending, a twisted one at that.
From the first page to the last I was glued to the page to see where the author would take us next. I’m glad I knew nothing about the story except it was a Tarryn Fisher novel and to expect the unexpected.

Loved this. I was surprised by the ending. I love that she gives you nuggets throughout the story and once you know the twist at the end that the pieces just fall together. This author is becoming a master at suspense and I have loved every last one of them.

"Good Half Gone" by Tarryn Fisher sucked me in from the beginning and I didn't let go until 48 hours later when I finished.

Iris wants proof that her twin sister was actually kidnapped and murdered when they were teens. The cops were no help and the case went cold. Now as an adult, after years of her own research, she applies for an internship at a hospital for the criminally insane, where she's tracked the man she feels is responsible.

The novel was relatively slow-paced at the beginning but I didn't mind. The way the author writes makes the build-up interesting. Good luck putting it down for the last 20% because you'll be on a wild ride with all the twists and turns. First five stars of the year for me! Keep it up Ms. Fisher!

Net Galley Review: Good Half Gone is the latest book by Tarryn Fisher set to be released on March 16th. Good Half Gone is a dark and twisted story, but a good one that keeps you guessing the entire book. It starts with two twin 15-year-old girls when one is kidnapped. The other twin spends the next 10 years figuring out what happened to her twin, tracking down the killer, and confronting him. Along the way, you are given clues about what happened to the kidnapped twin. Each turn gets darker, but it does end with closure and a somewhat happy ending.

I recommend this book to those who love a good mystery/thriller and one that keeps you guessing to the end. The characters are likable and you want to keep reading to find out what happened from the first page.

Have you read any of her other stories?

Good Half Gone by Tarryn Fisher is Kookamatoo! Twin sisters Piper and Iris Walsh had a problematic childhood having an addict mother, Virginia. They were removed from her custody and were placed with their biological grandmother, Betty Walsh, who was a strip club dancer, prison guard, and later a librarian in Seattle, Washington. At age 15, Piper was kidnapped by three guys, Colby Crimball, Angel Fennery, and RJ, from the theater, leaving Iris behind to report the situation to the police, who didn't believe her and instead insisted that Piper was a runaway. The police gathered the evidence of kidnapping and trafficking but waited too long before investigating. With no evidence to go on but a few scattered memories, the case quickly goes cold. However, Iris never gives up and keeps collecting evidence and connecting clues. At age 24, Iris has an eight-year-old son, Callum, and she is finishing up her graduate classes. She gets a position at Shoal Island Hospital, a private facility for the criminally insane; renowned Doctor Leo Greyson runs the facility.

This was a good book, it did keep me flipping pages until the end. The only thing that I didn't care for was the flashbacks got confusing and sometimes in the present time, it would move forward in time but then go back. It was kind of hard to keep track up. But overall, a very good, suspenseful story

Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for allowing me to read this ARC.

First of all, I would like to say thank you to NetGalley, to the publisher, and to the author for this ARC I received in exchange for my honest review.
I have read a few of Tarryn Fisher’s novels and they all kind of did the same thing for me. The story starts out interesting, leaving me excited for the rest if the book and hopeful for twists and turns to come. Then it starts getting repetitive. Not bad, just very repetitive. Fisher seems to dance around and around the mystery laid out for us until you start to lose interest because the same questions are being asked repeatedly. The reader will understand early on that the story is about what happened to Piper. It doesn’t need to keep getting brought up continuously. The pathway leading to the final reveal was all over the place. There was a lot of filler information that turned out to be irrelevant and the style of writing just did not do it for me. I saw the twist coming from a long way off, and most of the second half of the book just seemed far-fetched and unrealistic. I will say I enjoyed the first half more because I thought it would come together a little better in the end. It wasn’t all bad, but this is definitely not one of Fisher’s best novels.

Thank you, Harlequin Trade Publishing/Graydon House and NetGalley, for the advanced copy of Good Half Gone.

I kept concocting different twists that I thought were going to happen, and boy, was I wrong! This was a fun twisty thriller that I'll happily recommend to everyone!

Iris Walsh and her twin sister, Piper, were at the movie theater when Piper was abducted, but Iris can't get the police to believe her. Their grandmother and Iris set off on their own investigation. This book is told from two different timelines, but it is very easy to follow along. As an adult, Iris has her suspicions. She has a plan to get to who she thinks is guilty of what happened to her sister, but she has to find a way to reach him inside a mental hospital for the criminally insane. A plan years in the making will put her face to face with the monster in her nightmares, but what will it ultimately cost?

4.25 Stars

Nine years ago 15 year old Iris and her twin sister Piper went to the movies with some guys. At the end of that night Piper was dragged into a car and hasn't been seen since.
No one believed Iris when she said that her sister was kidnapped, the police thought Piper was just a runaway.
And now 24 year old Iris is finally able to do something with all the evidence she collected on her own through the years. She went to college and now she's interning in a hospital for the criminally insane on an island near Seattle. Someone in there knows something about her sister!

What will happen with Iris on that Island?
Will she find out the truth?
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT!

I really enjoyed reading this.
It's interesting and mysterious and suspensy and sweet and heartbreaking from the first to the last word!
But it also felt a bit rushed from start to finish. No idea what I mean by that. It just felt too confusing. I wanted or rather needed a hundred more pages. I wanted more of the life Iris was living now and her schooling and work and all the things.
It could've been an amazing book but it somehow feels like a weird editor cut over 100 pages and made it not amazing.
BUT - I still really liked reading it. It was mysterious and suspensy. You might guess some things but you probably won't guess all the things! At least I didn't!

Great cover. Great book. I wouldn't mind seeing this on Netflix one day!

PS - if you're a tiny little bit of a water phobist... the cover water does not appear in the book - no one is going to drown! But we are in Seattle and on an Island - so there is a lot of water from above and below!

► GOOD HALF GONE was a suspensy + mysterious + sweet + heartbreaking + sad + dangerous + slightly creepy Shutter Islandy story. I loved reading it! Run to your nearest book dealer for your own Iris - she'll be sold out in no time!

Really enjoyed this book. The ending was a surprise. I knew something was up with one of the characters but I was shocked at the reveal. Will be looking into more of this authors work!

Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review***

I’ve had mixed success with Tarryn Fisher’s thrillers in the past, but I still wanted to pick this one up because I was in the mood for a bingeable thriller with a bonkers twist (which Fisher has delivered for me regardless of past ratings). While this book definitely was bingeable and bonkers, it unfortunately didn’t really work for me.

Told in alternating “before” and “after”
timelines, this book follows Iris as she goes to extreme lengths to get to the bottom of her twin sister’s disappearance (who disappeared from a movie theater when they were 15 years old).

I found this super entertaining at first. I liked the initial setup surrounding Piper’s disappearance and seeing how the case unfolded over the years. It was interesting to see the ways that her disappearance continued to impact Iris and her loved ones in the present day. However…things quickly went downhill for me. The writing felt a little disjointed and arbitrary at times, to the point where I’m seriously hoping this went through some massive edits. The pacing was veryyy slow for like 85% of the book, and then the reveals started happening one after another to point where it was hard to keep up. The characters all felt pretty 2 dimensional, so I found it hard to get attached to anyone in particular.

On the plus side, the alternating timelines kept me engaged and entertained. The slow dissemination of information actually made me want to keep reading. Sometimes the time jumps didn’t necessarily make sense or add anything to the plot, but it was still something I liked about the book.

All in all, this was fairly lackluster read but I don’t regret reading it by any means. I like the plot lines that Tarryn Fisher comes up with and interesting to see what else she comes out with in the future.

I enjoyed this book. The character development was good. The ending was a bit farfetched. However, overall it was a good read.

In this chilling thriller, Iris, narrowly escaping the tragic fate of her twin sister who was kidnapped and trafficked as a teen, seeks proof to unravel the mystery. Frustrated with the cold case and determined to uncover the truth, Iris takes matters into her own hands. Her path leads her to the isolated Shoal Island Hospital for the criminally insane, where secrets linger in the shadows and are safeguarded under lock and key.

As Iris delves deeper into the mysteries of Shoal, she realizes that something more sinister is lurking beneath the surface. The hospital holds not only the stories of the criminally insane patients but also hidden secrets that extend beyond the confines of its walls. In her quest for truth, Iris discovers that she is not the only one observing—dark forces are at play, and the stakes are higher than she could have ever imagined.

This suspenseful narrative promises a riveting journey through the complexities of Iris's investigation, the eerie corridors of Shoal Island Hospital, and the unsettling revelations that await. Brace yourself for a tale that intertwines past traumas with present dangers, keeping you on the edge of your seat until the very end.

What do you do when you know something bad happened to your sister and no one believes you? Iris saw Piper being kidnapped when they were teenagers and had no proof to back up her story. She never gave up trying to find out the truth about what happened at that movie theater. Iris decided to take an internship at Shoal Island Hospital because she believes she will find answers from a high risk patient there. She found her answers, but not in a way she thought she would.

I thought it was going to be a pretty straight forward story. I didn't expect some of the events that did happen to happen. You felt so bad for Iris for spending most of her life trying to find out what happened to her sister. This author is quickly becoming one of my favorites! I am defiantly going to be recommending this book to friends!

This is the gripping character driven thriller I needed to read this year. Iris's twin sister was kidnapped and trafficked as a teen, and now an adult, she's ready to find justice for her sister.

This book made me laugh, pulled at my heartstrings, and had my heart racing.

Tarryn Fisher's books are always filled with signature prose that leaves me aching for more until I reach the end.

That ending? I did not see it coming! 🤯🤯🤯

I was absolutely ecstatic for this book! I loved the pacing and the dual timelines, however I found it a little predictable.

First of all, I absolutely loved Iris and how tough she was! I can’t imagine what she went through witnessing her twin sister being kidnapped! She was determined to figure out what happened to Piper, deciding to take matters into her own hands.

The twist in this book was something I never expected!! I never even guessed that!!!

Thank you so much NetGalley and Harlequin for the advanced copy of this book!

Definitely a must read!!

I really liked the beginning of this book. Iris’s sister is kidnapped and very likely sold into trafficking. The problem is the police believe she just ran off. I loved the backstory. I thought the character development and relationships between Iris, her grandmother, her addict mother and her sister Piper were well developed.

Then years after Piper goes missing Iris is still investigating the case herself which prompts her to go to grad school and get an internship at a psych hospital. At this point the book sort of falls apart for me. It felt really scattered and poorly thought out. I was really confused about Iris’s role in the hospital. Truthfully I was waiting for some huge twist or development. It was confusing. Iris was sleeping in the hospital and eating with the patients. Then she was commuting back and forth to Seattle which in reality is a 3 hour drive. I’m familiar with the area and have been up there myself. I was trying to suspend my disbelief but finding it difficult.

I was starting to lose interest in the story then the twist at the end fell flat for me. It seemed really unrealistic and out of line with the rest of the book.

Thank you to netgalley for a copy of this arc.

What would you do if your twin sister was kidnapped in front of your eyes? Iris makes a heart-wrenching 911 call reporting her sister's kidnapping from the local movie theater. Upon arrival, the police don't believe her story. Is her sister a runaway or a victim of a crime?
This was off to a great start. But, the author lost me when the setting changed to a rehabilitation center for the criminally insane. It wasn't hard to see where the story was going. The “big reveal” was disappointing as I knew where the story was going. If you are new to the mystery/ thriller genre this might be for you. On to the next one!
