“Iris Walsh saw her twin sister get kidnapped—so why does no one believe her?”
Personal review: 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Woah. This book had mystery, intrigue, dark thrills, romanceish…and an insane asylum? Sign me up! Thank you @netgalley and @graydonhouse for the advanced review copy in exchange for my honest opinion. The twins aspect of this book intrigued me, but don’t get too attached because one gets nabbed in the first few chapters, I enjoyed the singular POV from Piper, and the nonlinear timeline that took us from present, to her childhood. The ending of this book was pulse pounding and not at all what I expected, the hospital on the island, insane asylum, seriously gave me the creepiest of vibes, in the best way, of course. I never would have guessed “whodunit” and the reasoning and it took me a bit to even understand it, but it seriously was such a good twist! Well done, Taryn Fisher!
Synopsis:
Iris narrowly escaped her twin sister’s fate as a teen: abducted in broad daylight and long gone before she could convince the cops there was anything to investigate. With Piper presumed a runaway and no evidence to go on but Iris’s scattered memories, the case quickly goes cold.
Ever since that terrible day, Iris’ search for Piper has bordered on obsession. Chasing leads across years and following clues that all seem to point to a single name, Iris does everything she can to get close to the only person who might know the answer to the question that still haunts her: where did Piper go? And if the police still won’t help, she’ll just have to find the answer herself--using her criminal psychology degree to intern at the isolated psychiatric hospital on Shoal Island, where secrets lurk in the shadows and are kept under lock and key. But Iris soon realizes that something even more sinister is simmering beneath the surface of the Shoal, and that the patients aren’t the only ones being observed…
"Iris Walsh saw her twin sister, Piper, get kidnapped—so why does no one believe her?"
Good Half Gone was a suspenseful page turner from beginning to end. This was well written and I can not wait to read more books by this author. The book follows Iris as she tries to find the answers herself to what happens to her sister Piper and how Iris ends up at a isolated psychiatric hospital on Shoal Island where the secret's hide in the shadows but they are also kept under lock and key. The book was one I highly enjoyed and would recommend to any reader but especially to readers who love a good thriller. Thank you to NetGalley and publisher for this book in exchange of my honest review of Good Half Gone.
I absolutely loved this book!! I couldn’t put it down.
I just loved all the characters. I highly recommend this book.
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for my review. This book kept me on the edge of my seat! There were some really good twists and I shouldn’t have expected any less from this author! I always enjoy their books!
Thank you Netgalley for the advance readers copy in exchange for my opinion/review.
Good Half Gone was a fantastic read that actually kept me up late. Exciting thriller with twists I didn't see coming. Protagonist Iris was an interesting character.
The copy I was given was just horrible. So many errors and mistakes and the lines would just break off which really messed up the sentences.
Now to the actual book part, it was a DNF for me which was extremely disappointing because I love Tarryn Fisher. I’m not sure what was going on here but it was almost like it was written by someone else. So many inconsistencies.
This was a serious case of whodunnit, can you imagine watching your twin sister be taken and no one believe you? That is what happens to Iris, and the story picks up years later when her grandmothers health is failing and she wants to be able to finally give them answers. She takes a job at a hospital for the criminally insane, where she thinks she has a few leads to her sisters cold case. Once she gets there, things start going off the rails. This book was interesting with some good twists.
This book started out so good but what the heck was that ending?? I like the writer’s style though and it kept me interested so I’ll give it 3 stars
I can't imagine the trauma of losing a friend or sibling, having them just vanish. I'd have to assume that as an identical twin, losing your other half would be that much more traumatic. After all, they say that twins can even share pain or specific feeling when separated. In Good Half Gone, Iris has been searching for her sister for years and has made it her life mission to find her sister and bring her home.
Since the disappearance, Iris has been going to school, majoring in criminal psychology and raising her young son. Her goal? To intern at the secluded psychiatric hospital that houses the man she believes murdered her sister. The only thing is, the hospital is creepy AF.
Working at the hospital on Shoal island isn't what Iris had expected, but she can't stop now. As she gets to know the patients, and figures out her next steps, things become more and more sinister by the day.
Good Half Gone is a fast summer read that's perfect for a long day at the beach. Taryn Fisher has lots of unexpected twists and turns in store! Special thanks to netgalley for an advanced readers copy in exchange for my honest review. This one is out now!

This is another book that went in a direction I wasn’t quite expecting. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it was a surprise. It was a compelling story, for the most part, and I’ll be looking out for the writer’s next one.
Reading a Tarryn Fisher book is like unweaving a spiderweb. Slowly, slowly, you wind a bit in here and go down a path. Then the turn you took leaves you in a tangle so you retrace your steps and start winding a different path.
Iris can’t get over the disappearance of her twin sister Piper. She wants the blood of the man who took her. The police let her down, now she has to take matters into her own hands.
The search takes her to a mental hospital on an island. There she meets the criminally insane but only there will she uncover the secret of what happened to Piper.
I was completely enthralled.
Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin for the advance reader copy of Good Half Gone!
This one started off strong. Jumping between the past and present from the day Piper went missing, to Ivy’s current life working in a remote mental institution was compelling base that draws the reader in.
Overall though, the pacing felt off. There was some jumping around and unbelievable plot points that were confusing. We’re left with a lot of questions for quite some time. The finale was kinda wild but I didn’t mind suspending my disbelief. I didn’t hate it! Good Half Gone is available now. Grab it for a quick summer read.

Wow... I'm still not sure I know exactly what I read..and I think that is why I enjoyed it so much. The way Tarryn can create a plot twist at the perfect time is inspiring. The storyline was unique and different than anything I've read before. It's uniquely it's own. It was a master class in keeping you guessing while devouring it at the same time. I didn't know if I should slow down or speed read my way through the whole book. Bravo!
Ugh! I wanted to like this book so badly. I loved The Wives and hated The Wrong Family, so this was another shot to see where I stand with this author. I actually started off really invested and was intrigued and creeped out by the premise... maybe even the first 50% (thus the middle of the road rating). But then it went so off the walls bananas that I can't in good faith recommend this nonsense to anyone with that ridiculous ending. Not only was the ending bad, it was pretty predictable, but then you're like not that can't be it BECAUSE IT MAKES NO SENSE.

***Iris Walsh saw her twin sister get kidnapped—so why does no one believe her?

Years Later now working at psychiatric hospital for the criminally insane on a remote island. Iris is determined to find out what happened to her sister and one man has all the answers!!***
Thank you NetGalley for the Arc.
This is my third book by Tarryn (The wrong Family and An honest LIe) but this one has to be my favorite. i was sucked in right from the start i was infuriated how nothing was done for Piper so i was right with Iris in her fight for answers. It was a rollercoaster of twists, that i was kept in the dark until the last second.
You often go back to the past to when Piper was taken and to the present time lines, So you see Iris grow from the scared teen to determined adult whos going to get answers no matter what!
Of course the ending was the biggest shock of which I had to reread as even i couldn't comprehend it!
Overall I think Tarryn Fisher has now become one of those Authors i'll read without evening knowing anything about the book!!
Thank you to HTP for sending me a copy of GOOD HALF GONE. This one is out now!
I gobbled this one up so fast and for me, after THE WRONG FAMILY, Tarryn Fisher redeemed herself. I loved THE WIVES and now this newest one can live on that shelf too! These characters were so well developed and the ending gave me whiplash. I highly recommend this book.

At the age of 15, Iris was the sole witness to her twin sister Piper's kidnapping. Police were slow to investigate, & the case eventually went cold. Iris becomes consumed by her search for answers. Years later, her search leads to an internship at Shoal Lake Hospital, a facility for the criminally insane, which she believes holds the key to solving Piper's case.

This book started out so strong with a 911 call that had my heart racing! I was so interested in where this story would go, but unfortunately I didn’t enjoy the ride.
I really liked the past timeline, with Piper & Iris as teens, what led to Piper’s kidnapping, & the fumbling of the investigation. But the present storyline just didn’t work for me. Although I loved the idea of an eerie, isolated psych hospital, other plot lines were introduced that really didn't do much for the story. The timeline jumps were confusing & disjointed. The present day Iris at Shoal Island completely contradicted the street smart younger Iris. Then the ending twist was so far fetched & unbelievable that the story sort of fell apart for me.
I think if you enjoy popcorn thrillers that are purely for entertainment value & are ok with unbelievability, then you would probably enjoy Good Half Gone.
Thank you to netgalley, @htpbooks & @htphive for the opportunity to read this arc!
Rating 4.5 ⭐️
Iris Welsh is haunted by the abduction of her twin sister Piper. She will stop at nothing to find out what happened to her sister 10 years ago. She takes a job on Shoal Island, home of a psychiatric hospital for the criminally insane. It's here where she hopes to find the answers she desperately seeks.
The story is told in alternate past and present time lines. In the past, we follow an angry and frustrated teen Iris as she begins her journey to find her sister since the police offers little help or sympathy.
When we meet adult Iris, she is on a mission to find the truth and she knows she's close.
Both timelines interweave seamlessly as layers upon layers began to unfold until the shocking, mind-blowing, twist!!!🤯🤯🤯
I love how strong Iris has always been and she is unwavering in her resolve. The book was fast paced and well written. The only reason it's not a 5 is because it didn't wrap up as well as I would have liked it. I need to know the fate of some of the characters.
I enjoyed the book from the start. However I lost some interest halfway in but it picked back up towards the end. Overall a 3 star because it had a great plot and story line.
I adore Tarryn Fisher so reading this book was a no brainer. Her thrillers always pull me in and have me invested - this one was no different.
I can’t say too much about this book without spoiling things but let me just say it’s definitely a wild ride. A lot of this, I wasn’t expecting (which comes rare since I can usually predict where a lot of thrillers are going).
My biggest complaint is that sometimes I found myself having to double back to check which timeline we were in (past or present) because sometimes I would miss the transition.
But otherwise I recommend everyone pick this book up and give it a shot. It’s a solid entry in the Tarryn Fisher world and I’m happy to have gotten a copy of this to review!
(Not to mention I met Tarryn Fisher for her tour of this book and she is an absolute peach.)
