I’ve enjoyed Fisher’s past books but this seemed like it was written by a completely different author. The story was very disjointed, jumping from one scene to the next without any points of transition. It was choppy and confusing. There was an abundance of extraneous details that did not enhance the plot and made it seem like it was going in a different direction, but not in a good way. I figured out the plot twist pretty easily but found the ending to be completely implausible to the point of being ridiculous. The plot line was hard to follow and by the end, I was ready for it to be done. I am always hoping for another book from this author like The Wives!

I devoured Good Half Gone in a day. Couldn’t stop reading and had to know what happened. Twins, an isolated hospital for the criminally insane, fascinating characters?? I couldn’t resist.

I really liked this one. Lots of twists and turns made it fun. There was a spooky vibe on the island and I loved how everything tied together. I would definitely recommend! Thank you, @graydonhousebooks !

Many thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing Graydon House for gifting me a digital ARC of the latest thriller by Tarryn Fisher - 4 stars!

Iris Walsh saw her twin sister, Piper, get kidnapped, but no one except her Gran believed her and the case quickly went cold. Iris always felt like Piper was the good half of the twins - pretty and popular where Iris stayed in the shadows. As an adult, Iris is obsessed with finding out what happened to Piper. To do that, she gains an internship at the Shoal Island Hospital for the criminally insane, off the shores of Washington, accessible only by ferry and water taxi. Will she finally find her answers to what happened?

What a creepy location for a thriller - a remote hospital for the criminally insane! You could feel the horror and isolation in the writing, on the sides of both patients and staff. Iris' grief and obsession are so strong, and her Gran is an amazing person as well, having to take the place of the twins' mother in raising them. This book was filled with tension and twists and another great read by Fisher!

This one started off a little slow for me, but picked up as the book went on. I was not expecting the twists!

Another fantastic book from this author, it starts with a bang and it will keep you guessing until the end. Twisty, enthralling, suspenseful and with an end that I did not see coming.

Iris Walsh saw her twin sister get kidnapped—so why does no one believe her?

This is my first Tarryn Fisher novel. This was a good read, but it didn't thrill or frighten me. On the one hand, I loved the sister trying to get to the truth. Even if it meant putting her life in danger. I enjoyed the setting of a mental institution on an island that could only be accessed by ferry and giving that feeling that there is no escape- for the patients OR the employees. On the other hand, I saw what was coming and it left me a little bit disappointed.

Thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for access to this title.

Tarryn Fisher always writes such an intriguing, twisty thriller and this one was no different. I read a lot of thrillers and it is hard finding one that is unique and this included some themes and plot points I haven't read before.
Iris Walsh witnessed her twin sister being abducted and no one believes her. Haunted by memories, she embarks on a journey to prove her sister's kidnapping. She lands at a psychiatric hospital for the criminally insane, there the truth lies.
Fisher's writing is impeccable and she always skillfully builds suspense, leaving readers breathless and desperate for more. She delves into trauma, memory, and the fragility of sanity creating a psychological thriller that resonates with you, even after finishing the book.

BOOK I wanted to love this book so much. As a fan of Tarryn Fisher’s books, I was so excited to dive in. Tarryn’s books are always so unique & Good Half Gone is no different. I always enjoy that her twists are so unpredictable.

The beginning had me hooked, but I quickly lost interest and felt like the pace of the book slowed down tremendously. The last couple chapters saved the book for me, and I truly enjoyed the ending. I just wish the whole book was as thrilling and suspenseful.

This book has twins 👯 and I’m a twin so I kinda love it a little extra because of that 🤣 Piper and Iris are twins they’re total opposites but really connected. Piper gets kidnapped and things for Iris just become hard for her. This book has so many twists and turns !

I love Tarryn Fisher's previous books - The Wives, The Wrong Family, An Honest Lie - so I will always pick up her latest release. This one was a bit of a disappointment. It wasn't bad, it's just that the ending was sooo outlandish and unbelievable, it took away from the rest of the story and the incredible build up. It went from being an easy 4 or 5 star for me, down to a 3 - enjoyable, but not one I would recommend frequently.

3.5 ⭐️ rounded up. It's been awhile since I've read a thriller that I've actually enjoyed and that kept my attention, although this one did start off slow for me.

Good Half Gone is told in past and present points of view as it follows Iris and her need to find out what happened to her twin sister, Piper. The past timeline follows from when Piper was taken and into the early investigation. Iris finds herself having to investigate her own sister's kidnapping because the police won't take her seriously.

The present timeline is a continuation of Iris's personal investigation except now she is an adult and her sister's case is cold. She has taken an internship at hospital on an island that houses a few people who are criminally insane, with the intent to get close to one that she believes knows what happened to her twin, Piper.

Overall, although I did not predict the ending, looking back there were a few clues laced throughout the book that made me think, "oh, now that makes sense." I really enjoyed this book because the story line was a little different than what I've been seeing a lot of lately, although I definitely think there were some parts that could have been given more detail.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review!

Tarryn Fisher won me over with The Wives and immediately became an auto buy author. I found Good Half Gone to be very entertaining and worth the read.

Twins. Sisters. An undeniable bond.
When Iris' other half is kidnapped right before her very own eyes. Iris' life falls apart. Call it a twin instinct but she knows Piper is still out there. And she will do just about anything to find her, no matter how long it takes.

"You miss the present in a chase for tomorrow."

Fisher really grabs your attention with a heart rate inducing opening. Instantly pulling you into this tragic story of familial trauma, connection, unexpected motherhood with a side of crime of exploitation.

Working alongside Iris as she tries to piece together the events of that night you grow a certain kind of connection to Iris when clues and unexpected links to her sisters disappearance come into focus. Hope building with every turn of the page.

With an unforgettable, suspense filled ending that will have your heart pumping, fingers curling and jaw on the floor.

And although this has some polarizing moments I found this to be an amazing deep dive into sister hood and the lengths one will go to for family. The pacing is super fast, making it easy to fly through. It's a quick read even though it does have some mentions of dark and ick factor type topics. It doesn't go into great detail but I'd still check content and triggers, just in case.

Thank you to Tarryn Fisher, @htpbooks and @netgalley for the advanced invitation to Shoal Island Hospital. It was an explosive time!

Thank you NetGalley, Tarryn Fisher and Harlequin Trade Publishing | Graydon House for this e-arc in exchange for my honest review.

This is my fourth Tarryn Fisher novel and I really enjoyed this one! The Wives is still my no. 1 favorite but I really enjoyed this one! It had all the creepy feels and suspense that her other books have, and that crazy twist at the end had me saying WHAT?!? Solid 4 star read for me!

"Good Half Gone" by Taryn Fisher - A Decent Thriller with Some Pacing Issues
"Good Half Gone" by Taryn Fisher offers an intriguing premise that initially captivates readers. However, the pacing issues may deter some readers from fully engaging with the story. Around the 80%mark, the narrative undergoes a significant shift, transitioning from a slow-paced thriller to a high-action crime novel.
While the novel succeeds in keeping readers guessing with its unexpected plot developments and well-developed characters, the inconsistent pacing ultimately detracts from the overall reading experience. Despite this,
"Good Half Gone" remains a decent thriller, particularly for those who appreciate a mix of suspense and adrenaline-fueled action at the very least end .
Many things, to NetGalley and Harper Collins publishing for allowing me to read this ARC copy in exchange for non-biased review.

This one was interesting to me. I loved the setting of this one, it gave it a creepy feel. I enjoyed the premise and liked the twist at the end.
That being said I thought that this sounded familiar in a sense. Like maybe I’d read something or watched something similar. This wasn’t my favorite but I did enjoy Iris character

Iris was such a strong main character and I loved her fire and passion to protect her family. Searching for her kidnapped twin sister was her main goal as well as taking care of her son Cal. The strong family connection was so powerful. The loyalty and determination Iris has to uncover what happened to her sister is fierce. Since she can’t rely on the police she will have to take matters into her own hands.

As a mother reading this it totally tore me apart. I can’t imagine my child going missing especially the way Iris sister had. 🥺

I was so invested in this one until the end. It got a little crazy and then I didn’t even care about the big twist and major reveal.

Good Half Gone is another enjoyable thriller from this author. Told in both past and present day, we follow Iris as she search for clues to her twin's disappearance a decade ago.

As the story unfolds, with all its twists and turns, we get so much more than we expected. This suspenseful thriller was riveting and took us on quite a ride. I thought the author did a great job with the atmospheric setting -think mental hospital on an island. However there were some sub plots that were introduced that I could care less about.

The story started out fast paced, slowed down in the middle, and then picked up again at the end.
Nothing is as it seems and the ending had me in shock. This was an engrossing tale and I would definitely recommend it to thriller lovers.
