Harlow presents a mystery with twists and turns throughout to keep the reader turning pages. She presents friendship and secrets in a great story. 4 stars

Whoa, this book! When I read the premise before reading this book, it was said if you love Colleen Hoover you'll love this book, and there is alot of truth in that!

This is a new author for me, and boy the emotional twists and turns definitely took me for a ride. Sawyer, Hailey and Ella are close friends, but there are definitely secrets that aren't shared between them. This whole story is very well written, definitely a page turner, and definitely keeps you guessing on the tragedy that unfolds. I loved it and plan on reading more from this author.

Enjoyable teen/young adult thriller/romance. I haven't read YA in a while, so I'm just starting to get used to it again as I read more from the genre and I'd say this fit the bill pretty well, though the spice level is a bit higher than I'd expect.

Highschool senior Ella has had the summer from hell after losing her best friend Hayley in a terrible car accident. Racked with guilt from the choices that led to the consequences from that night, Ella returns to school in the fall to face her peers and life without her friend, and that's where Everything We Never Said begins. Ella's plan to keep her head down and make it through her senior year quietly and without incident is derailed when she begins to grow closer to Hayley's boyfriend and falls for him. Now faced with even more guilt, Ella begins questioning everything she knew from the night Hayley died as she begins to see another side to Sawyer. Complicating matters, Ella has gained possession of Hayley's journal and despite her intention to leave the journal unread, curiosity takes over and Ella begins a dark descent into a journey to find the truth of Hayley and Sawyer's relationship and what happened that night. As Ella learns that Hayley was keeping dark secrets about her relationship, she begins to fear that Sawyer is not who she thought her was. Worse, she worries that perhaps Sawyer played a much larger and more sinister role in Hayley's death than Ella ever could have imagined.

I enjoyed this book it is about YA friends and an accident which leaves one dead.
While leads you to believe it’s all about their friendship, loss,grief but alon* the way it turns into a dark suspense thriller. The author did a great job in writing this.

This is a young adult novel that focuses heavily on grief and trauma, with a side of romance. Don't get me wrong, the romance was good and it was cute, but the book was a little heavier than I assumed it would be from the premise and that's probably on me.
Ella feels extremely guilty and auto resorts to blaming herself for pretty much everything that goes wrong, Sawyer is a golden retriever who is terrible at words sometimes and would have had 75% less problems if he didn't say the vaguest things in response to serious questions or when needing to provide an explanation, Hayley.....Hayley is kind of a bada** and i'm glad we got to see into her mind with her diary entries. I appreciated the back and forth POVs between Ella an Sawyer, though it did make it a little more obvious what direction the story was going. While obvious, it was still enjoyable and there are parts that I didn't guess at.
This book has a decent amount of romance, some heartache, a lot of thrill, and a huge scoop of EVERYONE needs therapy.

Wow, what a fun ride! I devoured this book in one day because I just couldn’t put it down. The characters were so relatable and Ella’s grief is felt throughout. This was twisty, dark, mysterious and overall a compelling read. I guessed the one of the twists right from the start, and another before the ending. Still fun to read!

Where do I even start with this one? I was 100% sure I knew what I was getting myself into and with every plot twist I was proven wrong and wrong again that I had an idea of what awaited me. Everything We Never Said was such a powerful novel of grief and friendship that will grab at your heartstrings and not let go. When I first started the novel, I was pleasantly surprised by the incredibly realistic portrayal of the grief process and the complexities of being a teenager on top of that. The different POVs add another layer to the book because you get inside their heads, but at the same time, it misleads you on what really happened. 🔎

This book had a major plot twist that I thought I had guessed (S - iykyk) and was completely baffled when I found out I was wrong. The same with its conclusion! I was at the edge of my seat for the last 60 pages, not knowing how everything would play out and I’m so satisfied with how it do did! 🤯 This YA thriller romance was right up my alley and I devoured it in a sitting!

Wow, thank you @netgalley this was everything I thought it was going to be! Dark and twisty with a very fast pace. I couldnt put it down,I had to keep reading to know what was going to happen next. It was fairly predictable but it didn’t matter. The writing style was enjoyable and I throughly enjoyed the multiple points of view! It also had a very powerful message about domestic violence. It also portrayed different degrees of anger and violence being displayed. As a domestic abuse survivor, I really appreciated the message. From showing the early warning signs and discussing the ways to get help. I will definitely be looking forward to reading more.

I loved this one. An intriguing YA suspense about grief/loss, abuse, and friendship. At first, it feels like a drama/romance, but it soon turns into a suspense/thriller as things pick up.

I'm giving this one 3.5 stars. It is a YA romantic thriller following our MC Ella. Ella has lost her best friend Hayley in a car wreck. The worst part, Ella blames herself, as she was the one driving the car when they wrecked.

We follow Ella as she starts her senior year of high school without her best friend. She ends up getting close to Sawyer, Hayley's boyfriend. Maybe a little too close. To her horror, she ends up having feelings for Sawyer that she wasn't expecting. She then finds Hayley's diary, which brings insight in to Hayley's final months and her relationship with "S".

From here, the plot thickens. I guessed one of the major twist, but the author did a good job of trying to steer you in other directions! She had me thinking it was one person, then some other person, and I wasn't right about either of them! It was a good time. I look forward to seeing what else this author comes up with!

A romantic thriller book that centers around a 17 year old hs senior, Ella, whose best friend died (Hayley). The plot is centered around the night Hayley died. Story is told in dual POVs and diary entries. Diary entries are always a fun aspect to a story. You get feelings of loss, grief, navigating difficult relationships, physical and emotional abuse are explored - and the difficulties of being a high school student. It is an interesting read and a solid read, however predictable in a sense. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this eARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

I'd like to preface this review by saying that I did not have any of what this book was about when I began reading it (I read the synopsis once, months ago, but no longer remembered it by the time I began reading the book). So I just assumted I was reading a fairly traditional YA book. I had no idea it was going to have a mystery/thriller element to it until I got to that point in the book.

While I didn't have a preference for that one way or the other, I say that just to provide context to my review. Those who know what it's about before diving in may have a different experience while reading it.

Anyway, I found it to be a fairly quick and engrossing read. It was an easy read in terms of the writing, even though the topics in the book were of a heavy nature. I am still not sure if this is being marketed as contemporary YA, a YA romance, or a YA thriller, but it was sort of a mix of all three. If it's being marketed specifically as a thriller, I felt that it took a while to get to that point. I was quite a ways into the book before I realized that's the direction it was headed in. It felt more like a book about loss, grieving, and challenging relationships during the most angsty period of most people's lives...until it turned into more of a mystery/thriller.

Like many readers, I try to to figure out the "answer" to the mystery before I get to it, but ironically, I tend to enjoy it less when I figure out the ending before I get there. I much prefer a book that blows my mind with surprise twists or unexpected endings, and unfortunately with this one, that was not the case for me. There were very minor things that I couldn't quite figure out how they would work/fit my idea of what the twist was, but for the big "a ha" moments in the book, I had them figured out somewhat early on.

Despite that, it was still an interesting read and I don't regret reading it. I know 3-star ratings often somehow feel "bad", but in my rating system 3-stars means I liked it. It was okay, not great, but it certainly wasn't bad.

If you are a big YA fan, you will probably really enjoy it. YA is not my preferred genre, but something about the synopsis of this one made me want to read it when I first came across it. So keeping that in mind, if you ARE a big YA fan, you'll probably want to take my review with a grain of salt.

I enjoyed the diary entries being part of the telling of the story.

Ella is recovering from an auto accident that she feels she caused. She lost her best friend, Hayley, in that accident and blames herself. It's time to return to school and she doesn't know who she can make it without Hayley.

Ella and Hayley's boyfriend, Sawyer, and drawn to each other, probably over their common grief. She starts to fall for him, but feels she's betraying Hayley.

Then Ella finds Hayley's diary, and it starts to peel back a lot of layers into what was going on prior to the accident.

I don't want to give much away, but it was definitely an engaging read.

Everything We Never Said is a YA book that has many trigger topics. There is abuse, death and a sexual predator: sensitive readers be warned, and maybe it's for older young adults. The main characters are normal high school students who have boyfriend/girlfriends, go to parties, gossip, and have secrets. The secrets kept me reading and guessing. This book is the perfect read for any thriller, dark romance, mystery reader. Thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Group for my ARC of this book.

This is a quick YA read that sucks you in from the beginning. It’s part romance and part suspense and while it’s super predictable I still wanted to know exactly how it was going to unfold.

In this YA thriller, we join Ella while she’s wracked with guilt and grief over the death of her best friend, Hayley, and she can’t stop blaming herself. Now that school is back in session, it’s getting even harder to avoid memories of Hayley. When Ella reconnects with Sawyer, Hayley’s boyfriend, and starts to fall for him Ella’s guilt gets even worse. When she finds Hayley’s journal and starts to read, everything she thought she knew is thrown into question. Will Ella be able to accept the reality of Hayley’s death or will she be pulled farther into the rabbit hole and not be able to find her way out?

I found this to be an easy to read thriller that kept me interested throughout the book. The story was easy to get into and follow and the characters were well developed. The tension in this story was good, but at times I could guess where the story was going earlier than I would have liked. This was a good read, but at times I wasn’t a huge fan of the characters and the amount of grief in the story got to me at times. The second half of the book really picked up and I enjoyed that change of pace and the way everything played out. Overall this was a good YA thriller that was a little predictable, but still easy to get pulled into. I would definitely be open to reading more by this author in the future. If you are a YA thriller fan this would be a good one to try.

I liked the writing style of this book! I felt like my daughter might enjoy it more than I did since it was young adult romance and thriller. The characters were well developed but I found the plot fairly predictable for the most part. There was only one twist I didn’t see coming. I would recommend for young (high school age) readers who are into psychological thrillers, mysteries, with a little bit of spice!

Beautifully written! I cannot say enough good things about this book! Sloan did an amazing job with the characters and the plot.

I went into this thinking it was a YA romance with some sort of heartbreak so I was not expecting this to turn into a dark romance. This books main characters are high school students but it touches a lot of triggering topics. It also turned out to be a thriller as well. It felt like a whole new genre for me lol but it was a great read!
