What a great read!!! I thought it would be a cookie cutter couple’s revenge type of book, but it was truly a surprising read, had such a hard time putting it down!!!

This was another good psychological thriller from Daniel Hurst. Sara and Guy have two children, an Amber and Jacob. Amber has just started university so there is only teenage Jacob left living at home. Sara sees a change in Jacob and begins to worry about him, Sara and Guy soon realise that Jacob is being bullied by a boy called Mason. He has been expelled from one school and has decided to pick on Jacob and make his life a misery. Guy takes things into his own hands and confronts his father which has terrible repercussions. The pain of bullying would resonate with most readers but would we go to such lengths to solve it. Quite a gripping read, a little unbelievable at time and the twist at the end I had worked out. All in all though a good read.
Thanks to a Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book,

Another grear read from Daniel Hurst! I’ve read many of his books and was super excited to get my hands on the couples revenge.

When Jacob comes home from school one afternoon and shuts himself away in his bedroom his mother Sara knows straight away that something is wrong with her boy. After trying to get to the bottom of things with her son but having little luck she confides in her husband Guy.

Eventually Guy gets a reluctant Jacob to open up after seeing some bruising on his son whilst they attend a football match. It soon becomes clear Jacob is being bullied by a serial bully. The same bully who is responsible for a young girl taking her own life after making her life a living hell.

Guy takes matters into his own hands and is convinced he has put Mason off bullying his son. A few weeks later Jacob comes home from the park having been badly beaten up. At this point Guy and Sara decide to take revenge on Mason by taking matters into their own hands and ensuring he can never hurt their son or anyone else ever again.

At the start I found the couples revenge quite predictable and very straight forward however as the book goes on their is a huge twist thrown into the mix throwing up lots of questions not only for the readers but for Sara and Guy. It was very cleverly twisted in which is one of the things that keeps drawing me back to Daniel Hursts books.

Thank you to NetGalley the publisher and the author for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for this review.

The ending was surprising.

I had to put some disbelief aside to take it all in. It fitted the narrative however.

Overall an enjoyable read about a serious subject.

A suspenseful and engaging thriller that highlights the impacts of bullying and its devastating impacts on its victims and family members. This is a topic that should be written about more because it is such a pervasive issue in our world. I found this novel to be very interesting and fast-paced. I did struggle to get behind the revenge plot because I felt it did not make sense at some parts, but overall it was a fun and quick read!

In "A Couple's Revenge," Daniel Hurst crafts a compelling narrative of Guy and Sara, determined parents facing their worst nightmare when their son becomes a victim of bullying. Hurst skillfully portrays the palpable fear and urgency of parental protection, drawing readers into the family's escalating crisis. The plot twists keep the tension high as Guy's choices lead to gripping predicaments, driving the narrative towards a surprising yet fitting conclusion. Despite some repetitive phrases, Hurst's storytelling prowess shines through, making this thriller a captivating exploration of familial love and retribution.

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC of this book. This was a very easy and enjoyable thriller to read. The story focuses on bullying of a child and the extremes one family will go to protect them. The characters were well done and the story suspenseful.

This author never disappoints and this story is living proof of that. A very interesting story about how far parents are willing to go when their child is a victim of bullying. I really liked it, it's very well written, like everything else I've read by this author

A mother's protective instincts go into overdrive when she discovers that her teenage son is being bullied. As all of the usual avenues seem to fail, the family considers more extreme measures to protect their child. There is a theme of revenge and that brings out some interesting moral questions to consider. How are would you go for your child?
This book was more of a slow burn with a bit of a twist. It was nothing like the “nail-biting story with a shocking twist” that it is advertised as though. The storyline was good for the most part and I could relate as a parent, but it didn't fully "get there" for me in the end. I didn’t really feel any connection to any of the characters, and I wasn’t invested in the book like I was hoping for. Overall, if you are in the mood for an 'easy read' thriller or new to thrillers, then I recommend this one!

The book was good but not the best by the author. The plot and turns were very predictable., except one at the end.

I have discovered this author recently. Unfortunately, this book was very disappointing. I found it to be just too repetitive.

1.5 Stars
So, after having "The Couple's Revenge" by Daniel Hurst lurking in my digital library for what feels like ages, I finally decided to give it a shot. I vaguely remembered seeing some pretty scathing reviews about it towards the end of last year, but with my ever-growing backlog of unread ebooks, it just kept getting pushed down the list.

This month, though, I made a resolution to clear out those neglected reads, and this one happened to be next in line. I tried my best to approach it with an open mind, shrugging off the negative vibes I'd absorbed, but, well, turns out those negative reviews were onto something.

I've read another book by this author before, "The Couple At Table Six," and let's just say that one was a solid one-star. So, yeah, my expectations weren't exactly sky-high for this one.

Now, let's get down to business. The writing? Let's just say it left a lot to be desired. It felt like I was reading the work of an aspiring writer who hadn't quite found their voice yet. The story was drowning in clichés, and I couldn't help but roll my eyes at the predictability of it all.

And don't even get me started on the parents. Their decision-making skills were about as sharp as a spoon. Without spoiling anything, let's just say their approach to handling their kid getting bullied was... questionable, to say the least. I mean, seriously, what parent in their right mind would react like that?

As for the plot, well, let's just say it had more holes than a block of Swiss cheese. Police raids with no real grounds? Come on now, even I know you need more than just some bad blood between people to get a search warrant.

And the way the parents blew a single incident out of proportion and turned it into a full-blown crisis? Ridiculous doesn't even begin to cover it.

This poor kid just wanted to be left alone to deal with his problems, but his parents turned it into a full-on soap opera. Was he even being bullied, or did they just make things worse by meddling? It's hard to tell.

Honestly, I'm baffled by all the positive reviews this book has gotten. It's got more holes than Swiss cheese, and I'm not sure if I'm willing to give this author another shot. Thanks to Bookoture and Netgalley for the advance copy, but this one just didn't do it for me.

How far parents will do to protect their children ? The answer is everything. Guy and Sara worry about their son who get bullied at school. When all moderate ways hit walls they decide to bring their own style of revenge.

The story is short, simple and start with normal parent's concerns. But the author successfully built the tension and the emotions anticipate from the event of bullying. The book make us realized how big that action affect physical and emotion not only for the victims but also people around them.
The plot actually going wild and I enjoy the twist and turn. The revealing is kinda predictable but this book still enjoyable with strong concerning messages.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for providing copy of this ebook. I have voluntarily read and reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Expecting Publication : 4 January 2024
