Daniel Hurst's books are always fast-paced and thrilling. THis one was no exception. i flew through it so fast and will definitely recommend it to thriller lovers.
Who doesn't love a new Daniel Hurst book?!
He's a favourite thriller writer of mine, so I always know I'm settling in for a great read. I have wondered how writers write and release books so quickly. I always feel like their standard should drop at some point.
Hurst is a master at keeping the standard so high, and this book attests to that.
It's surprisingly dark at times, and has a gripping plot that is no surprise at all.
Another cracker of a read!
Freida McFadden fans will love this one.
How far would you go to protect your family? Never underestimate the power of revenge. This book explores the lengths parents will go to keep their family safe. Daniel Hurst always masterfully draws me in immediately and keeps me enthralled until the very end. This thriller poses the question, “What would you do?” My heart went out to the families affected by the insufferable Burton family. I am always impressed when a thriller makes me care about the characters and have concern for their well-being. I never ceased worrying about the outcome of the families’ lives and how actions may lead to unwanted consequences. I was shocked by the final twist to this compelling, heart-wrenching thriller. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thank you, NetGalley and Bookouture for my copy.
Daniel Hurst is great at creating tension and drama. I started really engaged in the book. It was faced-paced and really highlighted the struggles of parent/teen relationships. While the tension built and the pages flew by, I found myself underwhelmed by the twists and turns. I found this book to be fairly predictable and while it did keep me engaged, it didn't knock my socks off. That said, for just thriller fans this is an easy read. It wasn't my favorite of all time. Thank you #NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. ⭐⭐⭐✨
I’m a big fan of Daniel Hurst’s books but unfortunately this one just wasn’t for me. I predicted the twist quite early on and just couldn’t really relate to the characters. The book was fast paced with short chapters which I did enjoy but overall, this just missed the mark for me.
Daniel Hurst is fast becoming my go-to author if i want a top notch fast paced thriller
This book is no different and i read it in one go!
Great twist, excellent all the way though and fantastic ending
Loved it !
“The Couple’s Revenge” by Daniel Hurst is a standalone psychological thriller that delves into the harrowing nightmare of parental anguish and the lengths to which a family will go to protect their children. Sarah and Guy’s seemingly idyllic life is shattered when their son Jacob comes home from school with unexplained bruises, signaling the onset of a chilling chain of events.
The author deals with the complexities of parental fear and frustration as Sarah and Guy grapple with the realisation that their son has been bullied. The emotional toll of their desperate search for justice is palpable, as they confront the inadequacies of the legal system and the agonizing helplessness of being unable to protect their child.
While “The Couple’s Revenge” offers a compelling premise and explores important themes, the execution falls short in some areas. The pacing can be uneven at times, with certain plot points feeling rushed or underdeveloped. Additionally, some readers may find the characters’ actions and decisions to be somewhat implausible or melodramatic.
Despite these shortcomings, “The Couple’s Revenge” ultimately delivers a gripping and emotionally charged thriller that will resonate with readers who appreciate a tale of parental determination and resilience in the face of adversity. The storytelling and poignant exploration of familial bonds make this novel a worthwhile read for those interested in suspenseful and thought-provoking narratives.
I enjoyed reading this novel and would rate it at 3.5 rounded up to 4. Not without it’s flaws but still compelling and well worth reading offering a poignant exploration of parental love and the desperate measures taken to protect one’s family.
I would like to thank both Netgalley and Bookouture for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
I was totally hooked from the beginning and as a parent I felt every emotion, pain, panic, fear and frustration along with the characters.
Another huge book from this author with a twist you will not guess. Incredible!
This book handles a very heavy topic of bullying in school. It was a really interesting read and centered around what parents will do to protect their child. I really enjoyed this book. I have read several Daniel Hurst books and this is a top favorite of mine. I liked how fast paced it was and also the story kept me intrigued. I thought I had it all figured out but the final twist was so unexpected. I definitely recommend this one if the synopsis sounds interesting and if you like a twisty story.
Great book.
How far would you go to protect your son from a vicious bully?
Sara and Guy learn a horrifying fact. Their son is being bullied by someone. Someone who caused a girl to end her own life to escape his torment.
Together they try to solve the issue. Talking to the police, to the boy’s parents.
But how far would you go when the normal avenues have been exhausted?
Well written, excellent story.
3.5 but rounding up to 4.
Another fast paced thriller by Daniel Hurst. I enjoy getting lost for a couple of days in his writing. His books are so easy to read and quite enjoyable. The Couple's Revenge is a very good read, however, I did figure out the twist quite early on. Guy was quite unlikeable and I found it hard to warm to him. Even though there are a few twists I can imagine if somebody didn't figure out the one at the end that they would be shocked. These characters we're realistic and you could imagine the pain, suffering and outrage they were facing. Considering how it ended im wondering will there be a sequal? I'm sure we won't have to wait to much longer for another book by Mr. Hurst.
First of all, I would do everything they did!!!! But the whole twist at the end????? Did not see that coming. Bravo!!!!! I was cheering and throwing my hands in the air. Heck yeah!!!
This book deals with the effects that bullying can have on a family. When Guy and Sara realize that their son is being bullied by the school bully that caused another girl to commit suicide, they push the limit to how far to go to protect him.
This is an explosive story that keeps you on the edge of your seat. A great read!
I have always loved Daniel s books but I didn't find this one quite as good as the others and at times slow in the middle. However what it did capture was a mother's instinct when her son istroubled and the depths parents will go to to orotect a child. A real twist of an ending which I didn't guess.
Highly recommend a read.
Ooh this was so twisted and fun to read! It makes you question everyone in your own life and who you cross! Be sure to add this to your list!
I will say, out of the numerous books I have read by Daniel Hurst, not a single one has ever left me disappointed. He is truly a master of suspense. His books are fueled with tension and keeps you on the edge of your seat.
A little bit about the storyline- Within the community, there has been much publicity regarding Mason, a terrible jerk who bullied another student so severely that she ended up taking her own life. As with many bullies in real life, nothing was really done to Mason or his family, leaving a family grieving in the wake of the unimaginable. Mason is forced to switch schools and you would think that he would have learned a lesson, but this piece of trash feels no remorse for what he's caused. He sets his sights on a new target to bully, Jacob. When Jacob's parents find out that Mason has caused him physical harm, they decide enough is enough. This community already lost one previous child and they won't allow it to happen to their child. They're not the only ones who want revenge and since Mason's family is unconcerned with the lives of anyone else, who will end up taking matters into their own hands and teach this bully a lifelong lesson?
I guess you'll have to read to find out!
The Couple's Revenge is another home run for Hurst, who is incapable of writing a bad book. I simply couldn't put it down and I was constantly entertained and hanging on to his every word!
As a mother - this book totally got me. My daughter is bullied almost daily by the same boy, who also bullies other members of their class.
Guy and Sara have a similar issue - with their teenage son. Hurst does an amazing job showcasing the complexity of this topic. I felt this one hard - very invested from the beginning!
Family drama focusing on timely and hard topic -- how much do we protect our children while granting them space to learn it for themselves.
