This was my first book by Daniel Hurst. I honestly struggled through the first 60% of this book. It was very wordy (repetitive) as it kept repeating the same thought simply worded differently sometimes 3-4 times. It felt a bit as if the author was just trying to hit his word count. It took until about 63% of the way through for things to pick up. I will say that I was shocked by the first big twist and that was when I was hooked. I wasn't expecting the ending and it was satisfying. This is a great read if you love a slow burn that builds to the climax.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC of The Couple's Revenge in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I am a big fan of this author, although I didn't think this book was his best. A little too predictable .
Wow! Just wow!! I seriously could not put this one down. One surprise after the next except me hooked to the very end! Excellent character development and storyline! Just when I thought I had it figure out - I was totally wrong.
This one is a must-read!!
Such a quick, fast paced thriller that I really enjoyed! A PAGE-TURNER that I could not put down. Like-able characters and smooth plot dives right into the story!
A horrible bully causes a young girl to suicidal end. A mourning family left without justice. New school but same horrible bully finds a new target to harass and beat. His seething family seeks vengeance, but vengeance is taken before they get the chance. So who did it and can they get away with it??
A very typical Daniel Hurst book, whom I absolutely LOVE! Thank you #NetGalley and #bookouture for an arc to review!

Daniel Hurst did it again with The Couple’s Revenge that published on January 4th 2024 by bookouture. I have read quite a few of Daniel’s books and I gotta say they just keep getting better and better I swear!!
In the couple's revenge we meet guy and Sara, two doting parents.
parents who worry about their son, who's starting to behave different. After some digging, it's revealed that he's bullied by another boy, and it's a race against the clock.
Thank you so much Netgalley, Daniel Hurst and Bookouture for allowing me to read another amazing book.
No trait is more justified than revenge in the right time and place - Meir Kahane
Gripping book. Daniel Hurst made a good job writing this book. I was feeling tense and sitting at the edge of my seat. Other times I was feeling angry and wanted to shout out at the characters. You won't feel relaxed reading this book, but you will feel all kinds of emotions. Definitely recommend!
how well do you know your children? Do you know when something is wrong with your children? Would you seek revenge when you know your child is being bullied and hurt? Loved this story on two parents who would do whatever it takes to protect their child.
I really enjoy Daniel’s book but this one was a miss for me. It seemed like something was missing and I was underwhelmed the whole time I was reading it. I wasn’t sitting on the edge of my seat. I just keep waiting for it to get better. Jacob is being bullied by Mason and Jacob’s parents, Sara and Guy, decide to take matters into their own hands. They want to protect Jacob and will do whatever it takes. I did not expect the book to end the way it did.
Although this book wasn’t for me, I would definitely recommend it.

Guy and Sara have a close relationship with their son Jacob so they know instantly that something is wrong when he starts behaving oddly. Jacob is being bullied and the worried parents decide they have no option but to take matters into their own hands...
The Couple's Revenge is a psychological thriller that plays on parents' fears for their children's mental and physical wellbeing.
Poor Jacob is obviously upset and finally confesses that he is the target of the school bully. This bully left his last school after his victim committed suicide. Jacob's parents are determined to protect their son at any cost and also prevent any other child suffering at the bully's hands.
The book is written using the first person perspectives of Guy and Sara via alternating chapters. Their fears and emotions are wonderfully written and I'm sure every parent will identify with the minutiae of their relationship with each other and their child. The prologue gives massive clues about the lengths the parents would go to in order to protect their son, and then the book goes back to show how they came to this terrible choice.
I found that I had to suspend my disbelief when the parents decide to take control of the situation. This didn't stop me loving the way the plot twisted and I was absolutely gripped. I had several theories about who and why events proceed as they do. I was not disappointed by the resolution which ties up all the loose ends.
The Couple's Revenge is a tense, dramatic and emotionally engaging psychological thriller.
3.5 rounded up
Jacob is acting really strange. Maybe it is regular teenage stuff. But this seems like more. Guy and Sarah know something is wrong with their son. They believe it is bullying.
There was a teenage girl who was bullied and ended up killing herself, and they do not want the same fate for their son
Guy sees bruises on Jacob and finds out Mason, a boy at the school, really is bullying Jacob
Mason is the same kid who bullied the teenage girl to death.
When Guy tries to confront Mason's parents. They do not care. They show no concern for Jacob and anything that has been done to him by their son
Who's to say that justice will even take care of Mason. Something needs to be done to stop this menace from harming or bullying another child
How far would your mama bear protection go to save your child from harm or danger
I found this book to develop and unfold way too slowly for my style and taste. I tried, it didn't work for me.
Love this author and this book was just wow! Enjoyed it from start to finish. Packed with twists, an absolute masterpiece.
Well that took a twist at the end to find out who truly did the deed. Just goes to show that you really need to lool over your shoulder, you really don't know who is following you.
One family looses a child due to another families neglect and bully. Another family has a child hurt due to the same negative family and bullying. Only time would leave the bully family open for bad things to happen.
Well… as a parent of a young man and being school staff… this gave me those wide eyes and chills!!! Daniel Hurst has been an author I’ve found recently and I’m very quickly been devouring all of his books. Read them all, I dare you. You will not be disappointed. 5 stars.
Daniel Hurst has quickly become one of my favourite authors and this new book does not disappoint. It follows two parents whose love for their son leaves them considering some very dark options on how to deal with a school bully and the impact will be even darker than they could ever imagine. How far would you go to protect your child.
Ooof - as a parent AND a teacher, this one hit a little too close to home! As someone who's been bullied myself, it's a topic that I feel strongly about and also something I fear happening in the future with my own child. I've been a fan of Hurst's ever since picking up the "Doctor" series, and this one contained the same kind of suspense and twists. Some of the parts lagged a bit, but quickly picked up as we made our way to the end. I definitely didn't see this ending coming! Fans of Frieda McFadden would also love this one as well as Hurst's other novels. Thanks for the ARC!
Well then.
Well. Then.
I just love Daniel Hursts writing. His writing is gripping. His stories are exciting, twisty and often so relatable.
What would you do if you thought your child was being bullied? How far would you go? This book explores a few different families and how they feel about the local bad boy.
Thank you to Bookouture, Netgalley and Daniel Hurst for the ARC.

how far would you go to protect your child?
i knew something was wrong. it’s a mother’s instinct. i could tell when my son started hiding things from me. he used to walk to school with a mischievous grin on his beautiful face. now he avoids eye contact and keeps his head down.
since i discovered he’s being bullied by a classmate, i’ve spent every day worrying, my stomach churning with anxiety from the moment he leaves the house to the second he walks back through the door.
everyone keeps telling me i’m overreacting, but i won’t risk my child’s safety. my husband and i try to talk to the other boy’s parents, but it only makes things worse…
then our precious child is hurt. enough is enough. it has to stop. even if that means taking matters into our own hands.
because we know the truth about the family targeting our son – it’s not the first time they’ve done this.
so the question is, exactly how far will we go to get revenge?

this book made me so so sad, poor jacob honestly, the amount of stuff that happened in this book kept me on my toes though!!! once i picked this book up i could not put it down, it was truly outstanding for such a short story, i thought the ending was going to be rushed but it wasn’t, ALSO - to add, THAT ENDING!!?? THE TWISTS AND TURNS WERE ABSOLUTELT UNREAL, I did not expect that ending and guessed wrong lmao. this book was rly rly good though! (:
I RECEIVED AN ARC FOR A HONEST REVIEW <3
Sara and Guy have a teenage son named Jacob that suddenly began acting differently. His parents were very concerned and worried that he may be getting bullied at school.
While out with Jacob … Guy notices bruising when he lifts his shirt. That is when he confessed that he was being bullied.
I won’t divulge the name of the bully… however , the story continues on about Jacob’s parents attempts at stopping the bullying. How far will they go to stop it? You’ll be surprised.
Loved the characters… very realistic.
I definitely would recommend this book.
Thank you to Daniel Hurst, Bookoture and NetGalley for a digital copy to read and review.
Daniel Hurst is on my. favorite author list!
I received this book from NetGalley, I have read a few of Daniel Hurst’s book. This one started a bit slow for me. It took me awhile to get into it.
About 30% in was when the story started getting better. It started to become the page turner I remembered from previous books.
I was able to figure out who the murderer was pretty early on, but I still had fun reading the plot twist unfold. The book definitely gives you an anxious feeling and of course there was some heavy details such as suicide and bullying so you definitely want to keep that in mind before picking up this book.
I felt the book was decent and I’m happy I read it.
