Rose gets Vivian as her Secret Santa and decides to give her a gag gift of a dildo. Weirdly Rose doesn't get fired, but asked for help (to possibly ferret out some dodgy accounting). That turns into a week in New York to prove it to Vivian's boss, not to mention Vivian and Rose getting to know each other in a very carnal way.
Did I love it, no, but, it was a fun read. The characters weren't my favorites of all time, both just a little too harsh, but, they did have growth too, so, that made them a bit better.
This was a good read, I liked it. It did not capture my. Interest as much as the book description did. It's not my cup of tea although I know it will be someones best read.
Unfortunately, I DNFed at 65%.
The book reads more like a fanfiction of sorts that was adapted to fit chapters. I was unable to attach to the character and the plot was not compelling to invest in. It reads very young though the story is about two women, one established and the other college aged. I can see the chemistry starting to bloom, but I concluded this particular read was not for me when the characters made it to NY.
This has been a difficult book to read and just as difficult to write a review.
I was intrigued by the blurb. I feel as though that was the best part about it, though. Sorry.
As early as in Chapter One I felt as though this was written from a male perspective and I found so much to be demeaning toward women in the workplace and in general. I did not feel a sense of connection with any of the characters at any point in the story.
I felt as though several of the final chapters were just not necessary to the story. I didn’t feel they promoted the characters to a place where I, as a reader, could feel content with their story. This just wasn’t a story that gave me anything but disappointment. It might be different for some. Just sayin’.
Thank you to Net Galley and Ylva Publishing. All thoughts here are mine and mine alone.
This story is very spicy 🔥 I loved every moment of it! Though I found it weird how their feelings developed in just a week when it was shown that Vivian wasn't fond of the gift she received during secret Santa. It was funny is some parts too , I like Rose's thoughts; they could be so random. This is a very light read that I enjoyed reading so much!
💎 Thank you Netgalley and Ylva Publishing for the eARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Rose is one of the most most hilarious MC's I've read this year
The story is engagiong while the subplot with Vivian is lacking
So she's afriad of commitment, says she'll try vetter at that and then proceeds to sleep with her employee?
I'm sorry but wtf Vivian?
I get she's been through a lot but that was a crqzy in the heat pf the moment actual hich kinda provides the reader with a little bot of insight into Vivian's cold personality
Good enough plot, And would recommend to any fans of the genre
Rose is a different kind of woman. She does not do relationships but only one-night stands. She is working part time while completing her degree. She gets in trouble doing secret Santa and gifts a dildo; to the company president Vivian. The plot revolves around Rose and Vivian going from Washington DC to New York because of accounting discrepancies. I found it hard to get into the book but once I did, it was good. Trigger warning, there is a lot of lesbian sex involved in the book. I would recommend this book for those who like a spicy romance..
Not really for me but I think that if you like books that take place in the office setting then you’ll like this book. But it just didn’t do it for me.
This story's main characters are Rose and Vivian. Rose is working at this job so she can pay off her college loan. When she decides to do Secret Santa, she has no idea who her Secret Santa is. She decides to get an inappropriate gift. When she brings it to the party, she realizes that her Secret Santa is president of the company, Vivian.
Vivian realizes that instead of firing Rose, she can use her computer skills to find out who is embezzling money in the company and promotes her to her assistant. Rose is in a small office right next to Vivian's. The women are in close quarters and close quarters leads to attraction.
I would recommend.

A workplace, age gap romance. Rose is wicked smart with numbers and is doing data entry for a job with just a quarter till she finishes her degree. She comes to the attention of Vivian, the president of their office, after hilariously giving her an inappropriate secret Santa gift. Vivian uses Rose to find the problems with their company operating numbers.
There is a lot of humor in the story and the set up begins well. The duo quickly fall into benefits before they are hardly friends. If you like funny and steamy this may work for you. For me it was an HR nightmare with a huge power imbalance and Vivian not out of her current benefits situation. But by the end it is almost sweet. Everything is from Rose’s POV so you don’t get Vivians thoughts or feelings. This is a quick read and an okay story. would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this very funny book
when rose decides to give her secret santa a vibrator as a fun gift ...things couldnt get worse right....
even though her best friend tried to talk her out of it rose still went ahead and bought it, what she hadnt envisioned was that her secret santa was her boss vivian tracey
and vivian wanted to see rose in her office right after the christmas party was over...
have to admit i found this book very funny.... an enjoyable romp into life in an office.... a fun read for all to enjoy
To be perfectly honest, this reminded me of a fanfic I read years ago. This is a wonderful thing. I had the most delightful time reading this book. The characters were engaging and the light mystery kept my interest. Spice is always a welcomed treat. Highly recommend.

'You're Fired' is an enchanting feel-good tale that unfolds when Rose surprises her boss with an unconventional Secret Santa gift, triggering a cascade of hilariously entertaining and sensually charged events. The narrative's irreverent humor, coupled with Shaya Crabtree's adept romance writing, brings to life the transformation of the seemingly reserved Vivian into a delightful, more carefree character. Crabtree's mastery in crafting both romance and intimate scenes is evident in the story's highly descriptive and steamy moments. The book's engaging pace had me eagerly turning pages, leaving me with a frequent smile. A captivating read that I wholeheartedly recommend.

Rose's humor is pure gold; her delightful banter had me bursting into laughter multiple times. The unexpected office party gift took me by surprise, and Vivian's response was so hilarious that I couldn't help but spit out my coffee. The book is a perfect blend of romance, spice, laughter, and mystery. I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect, from the comedic moments to the intriguing plot involving the embezzlement of funds. This captivating story kept me entertained from start to finish.
When employee Rose Walsh gives a TOTALLY inappropriate gift in the christmas gift exchange, she expects it to be a funny lark. Sadly, the gift ends up in the hands of her sexy boss, Vivian Tracey.
Expecting to end up fired, math whiz Rose instead is compelled to assist her boss in investigating irregularities at another branch of the company. As they investigate, they also discover feelings for each other.
This one was not bad, as long as you don't think about it too much. Likeable characters, the chemistry is there, and the mystery plot mostly holds up.
Good, light read.
I had so much fun reading this book! I really laughed out loud a couple of times. Loved the communication and emphasis on consent, even in 2023 it is not visible enough in wlw literature, let alone in novels depicting straight romance. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for a review.
Sex scenes are hot, laughs plentiful in this one
Romance, comedy and some mystery are all there in one amusing story. Relationships between characters are well drawn, some skewing more to a younger adult audience, and while I found some parts of the plot predictable, there were enough surprises and twists to keep me wondering how other parts of the plot would unfurl and ultimately resolve in the end.
More focus was placed on Rose and her friends and family than anyone connected to Vivian, leaving Vivian a bit of a mysterious though still relatable character compared to Rose. Rose’s friends and family are a hilarious bunch and her mother in particular has many laugh out loud moments in the story that will stick with you long after, and make you think twice about ever ‘helping’ someone open their mail.
The story made for great weekend reading and escape from reality. I laughed and snickered my way thru the book at the various characters’ antics in and out of the office, and am curious now to see what this author may publish next.
