Christina Lauren does it again! This book was dynamic and exciting from the beginning. I really enjoyed this book and recommended that my library buy it for our patrons. This author is an automatic read for me always!!
What a freaking adorable book! I could not stop smiling the whole time I read this book. Christina Lauren did such a good job making Tangled modern while still making this its own thing.
I enjoyed this take on Rapunzel and Christina Lauren's jump into YA. Ren is a sheltered, homeschooled, off the grid kid who goes to college and meets Fitz. A mystery, cross country trip ensues with love blossoming along the way. I love that this take on Rapunzel wasn't a complete retelling but rather an inspirational motive.

๐ โHeโd wanted to touch many women in his life. But heโd never so badly wanted to deserve one before.โ
I didnโt plan to read rapunzel retellings back to back โ more on this later โ but here we are. And *here* is a beautiful place.
This one is for all her Tangled girlies.
This one is for all the Flynn Rider girlies.
This one is for all the girls who refuse to stop being kind, who refuse to stop having dreams, who refuse to let the rain ruin their sunshiny souls.
This is for the girls who grew up with Disney movies and stories about faraway kingdoms.
This one is for us.
Thank you Christina and Lauren for a book I truly got lost in.
Thank you for a story full of so much heart.
A story with so much character.
A story made with this force that only comes from those who know that the dream commands life.
Girl meets boy.
Boy both likes and despises girl.
Girl likes boy.
But girl also loves life. More than anything. To live. To be alive. And maybe boy makes her do just that ๐
Tangled Up in You by Christina Lauren is noted as a modern day version of Disney's Tangled.
Ren has lived a secluded life She lives with her parents in a remote part of the country without any modern conveniences. She is self taught . She wants to go to college at the ripe age of twenty two and finally convinces her parents to let her go in exchange to follow their rules and to return to the farm on the weekends to complete her chores.
This book fell very short for me. The only real similarity I could find is that Ren has long hair and was kept secluded.
Thank you to NetGalley and Hyperion Avenue for sending me an ARC of "Tangled Up In You" in exchange for my honest, unbiased opinion.

Just finished "Tangled Up In You" by Christina Lauren and it's a delightful reimaging of RapunzelโI loved every bit of it, especially as "Tangled" is one of my favorite movies! Christina Lauren masterfully weaves in movie references like the frying pan and the Snuggly Duckling, adding an extra layer of charm to the story. Despite knowing the main storyline, I was kept thoroughly interested, and the reveal still managed to surprise me! However, I felt the ending was a bit abrupt, and the "epilogue" seemed like an afterthought. Overall, a fun and enjoyable read for fans of fairy tale retellings!
The concept is intriguing- it had me wondering right away exactly *why* Ren had to wait so long to leave home for university. WHY couldnโt she tell anyone where she lived? WHY did she have such specific chores? Was it to manipulate her or to her benefit? Sooo many questions.
Are her parents benevolent? Or are they the enemy? And what about Fitz? Charm boys - ugh. We all know how that turns out, right? But what if he isnโt as bad as most charmers are? What if (gulp), the attraction Ren feels is really something worthwhile? Then againโฆthatโs what charmers make you wonder.
The story was not typical Christina Lauren, but it was a fun fairy tale reimagining told with creativity, although the ending was a bit abrupt. I would have rather the middle cut down a little and more time spent on crafting all the fine details of the end. I think New Adult is probably the perfect age group for this book- it did feel young, but perhaps not YA.

Hear me out, the beginning of this book is kind of cringey and awkward. I also can't say I knew ~for sure~ what the plot would be but I generally had an idea and was correct.
Regardless, I really loved watching Ren and Edward's relationship grow and seeing how sweet they were together. It was also refreshing at points to see things we seemingly overlook in our day to day lives through the lens of someone who's only ever grown up on a homestead with her two parents.
If you like a little bit of romcom and a little bit of mystery, this might be the book for you! ๐
Thank you always, NetGalley, for the eARC of this book. โค๏ธ
The Rapunzel Revive you didnโt know you needed!!!
Christina Lauren gals are back at it again but this time with a Disney classic reimagined. The authors took the story of tangled and gave it a modern twist. Ren as Rapunzel and Fitz as Flynn they stayed true to their character inspos. The story though was OUT OF THIS WORLD amazing with a twist at the end that youโd never believe. I FLEW through this book in one sitting as I usually do with a Christina Lauren book but this is exactly what I needed to get me out of a reading slump. Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy and thank you Christina Lauren for the amazing retelling!
I really enjoy Christina Lauren, fairy tale retellings and thought Tangled was cute - so seeing what this one was I was pretty hopeful.
While it was an interesting concept, it unfortunately just did not come together for me. I guess I didnโt really think about what a contemporary romance retelling of Tangled would be like. The story struggled to hold my attention and read a bit young? Felt more YA than romance ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ
I love the authors and will definitely read more from them in the future. But from early on I could tell that this particular book was a mismatch for me personally. However, I definitely think this one will find its audience and will certainly be a popular one for many.

Christina Lauren stayed right on pace for ensuring that this modern day romance had Tangled vibes. I'm not the die hard girlie for Disney like so many others, so maybe that's why I'm not giving it 4 or even 5 starts. I think knowing that was the intention, they definitely nailed it, but as far as story that is captivating to ME - it just fell on the meh factor. That's definitely not to deny Christina Lauren's ability - they still hold my favorite book ever title. It's just this particular one wasn't all for me.

Iโll read anything Christina Lauren writes because they have a way of writing that makes you feel so immersed in the story. If you love Disney princess movies and the modern Tangled, then this is a sweet and great retelling. For some reason I just didnโt connect a whole lot with this bookโฆmaybe because Iโm not a total Disney movie fanatic. Honestly, my husband would probably love this book. ๐คฃ This book wasnโt bad by any means, it just didnโt make me feel all the feels and it read more like a YA book. If it wasnโt a Disney retelling, I would probably find the cheesiness of it to be way over the top, but it kind of worked for this book. This is a cute light hearted book that is perfect for all Disney lovers!

Thank you to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
Thank you to NetGalley for the advance review copy in return for an honest review. This book was super cute but with how short the tomelone was, it was hard to believe they would fall out in love so quickly. Especially since before the road trip, fitz didnโt really care about Ren that much. But other than that it was a really sweet book!
Tangled Up in You by Christina Lauren is toted as a modern day version of Disney's Tangled.
Ren has lived a life that is not typical in terms of modern day. She has lived with her parents in a remote part of the country without any modern conveniences. She is self taught and supposedly brilliant. She desires to go to college at the ripe age of twenty three and finally convinces her parents to let her go in exchange for promises to follow their rules and to return to the farm on the weekends to complete her chores.
I have a feeling I am going to be in the minority. This book fell very very short for me. The only real similarity I could find is that Ren has long hair and was kept secluded. The fact that Ren called her parents by their names and not by mom and dad made it feel to me that she had an idea that things were not as they seemed.
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Tangled is one of my favorite Disney movies so I had to read this and it did not disappoint. This was such a fun, witty, romantic retelling of Tangled. Ren and Fitz had such great banter and chemistry. I was left wanting to follow along on more of their adventures. I highly recommend giving this a read if you love romance novels and Disney stories.
Thank you Netgalley and Hyperion Avenue for the digital arc copy in exchange for my honest review.
I love this series so much. Taking the story of Tangled and making it almost like a cult like captured the story perfectly.
I am obsessed with this book. I've loved everything that CLo has ever published and this book is NO EXCEPTION. During the pandemic, my household was under the chokehold of Tangled and I found myself scouring the internet for halfway decent Rapunzel and Flynn Rider fanfic because my brain couldn't let go of how amazing this animated romance would be if put into adult hands. THEN I FOUND OUT THAT CHRISTINA LAUREN WAS TAKING IT UNDER THEIR WING AND GIVING IT THE LIFE I ALWAYS WANTED AND IT WAS PERFECTION.
Wether you were as obsessed by the Disney characters as I was or not, you will absolutely find this romance delightful and just *chef's kiss* IF YOU ARE A FAN, you will love it that much more when you see the little nods to the original animation (I mean a white Mustang convertible lovingly named Max?!!?!?!?!!!! I loved it). The heart of the story is woven throughout the completely original storyline that these authors have conjured up for us.
We have a girl that is excitingly, yet hesitantly, stepping out of her closed off world and community for the first time to attend University. She is used to a very sheltered life on a very isolated homestead and her parents are willing to let her off on this adventure if she comes home every weekend and adheres to their strict rules. For us (and others on her university's campus), this might seem wild, but to her, she doesn't even realize she is being restricted. With this newfound freedom and exposure to a new world, she finds herself making small exceptions to the rules to see if she can find herself, and when one of those small exceptions blows her whole world up, she enlists (maybe threatens to blackmail) the school's popular and well-known heartthrob into being her guide on a life changing journey.
He is the grumpy to her sunshine, and she is the safety he never realized he was looking out for. They set on out the roadtrip of a lifetime and help change each other for the better. It is swoony and magical and is poignant, in true Christina Lauren fashion. I could not put this story down and it fulfilled all of my Tangled dreams and more. I already want to reread it!
Do yourself a favor and pick this book up!
I love a good Rapunzel telling and was so intrigued by this one - a modern day take on the story of a sheltered young woman hidden away from the world finally going out on her own.
Ren has grown up isolated on a farm with her parents, hidden away from society and most of its modern day conveniences - ie, the internet. Now, at 22, she convinces her parents to let her attend college, where she accepted on scholarship despite having never gone to an actual school, as she tests extremely highly.
Itโs there that she meets Fitz, a senior with a reputation of a rich bad boy. When she catches him breaking into a professorโs office to change one of his grades, she strikes a deal with him - she gets to accompany him to Nashville for spring break. She found her world start to crumble around her after taking a voluntary DNA test for a science class, and thereโs someone in Atlanta she wants to meet.
I was surprised by this book - it ended up having much more emotional depth and tension than I anticipated. I liked how the authors used the Rapunzel/Flynn Ryder characters as the basis for theirs, while adapting them to fit a modern story. The last few chapters had me on the edge of my seat, and I enjoyed the chemistry between Ren and Fitz. Ren was naive, but not stupid, and that juxtaposition was handled really well.
Iโd definitely recommend this to fans of Tangled and those who love a good modern fairytale retelling.
Part of the Meant To Be series in which fairy tales are given a modern retelling, this was a retelling of Tangled/ Rapunzel and it was really cute. Ren is a genius and had never been to school and finally convinces her parents to allow her to attend university. She stand out a lot, mostly because she is amazingly kind and helpful, but also because she has never experienced many things we take for granted. Plus she has the most gorgeous long, lush hair.
Enter Fitz, who is a little threatened by Renโs intelligence but canโt seem to stay away from her. They end up going on a road trip together, Ren discovers a lot about herself and Fitz. It turns out her parents are not who they say they are and everything Ren has ever known is a lie. It was pretty stinking cute, read more like YA than adult.
