I can't think of anyone better to write a retelling of Rapunzel than the fabulous duo that is Christina Lauren. Tangled Up In You is absolutely perfect!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the digital ARC.

I really tried to get into this novel but I just couldn't do it. It could be that I'm not in the right place to read it right now. I usually really enjoy her books but I just couldn't finish it. Perhaps another time. Thanks for the advanced copy NetGalley. #NetGalley #TangledUpinYou

Oh my goodness. This story was perfect. I loved the innocence and the learning. The huge surprise toward the end caught me completely off guard, and I loved every second!

This was a great book! Everything that these two authors write is gold. These two characters couldn’t be more different, but somehow they worked together. I didn’t realize that this was a retelling of Tangled because I’ve never seen Tangled! But from what I do know of the movie, I can see the connections.

I loved how careful Fitz was with Ren. While we originally are told that he’s not a great guy, he proves the reader wrong by really being very thoughtful and sweet. I loved what it meant when she went from calling him Fitz to calling him by his real first name. He was so closed off and she seemed like such a naive free spirit.

I really enjoyed the ending. I had a feeling I knew what was going to happen and where the story was going, but of course I am never sure. I was happy with the way that it went, but I did want a bit more. I wanted to know what happened after things went down.

As always with Christina Lauren, this was a fun, easy read that romance lovers will enjoy.

I was thrilled to be approved for this ARC, as I am a fan of the authors! Another hit by Christina Lauren for all ages. The MFC, Ren, is one of my new favorite characters. I wish I could look at each and every day as an opportunity, an experience, such as she did. Even before she knew what she was missing, she seemed to appreciate the things in life that really should matter. I thought it was clear from the beginning that the MMC, Fitz, was going to be the misunderstood one between them all. Overall, their road trip was a new beginning and epic journey for them both. I like that my eleven year old twins (boy and girl) who are avid readers can pick this book up and get a little lesson about life and romance, without me worrying about it being inappropriate for them. Job well done to appeal to mass age groupings!

Where do I even start. I feel like Christina & Lauren’s most recent books have so much amazing character development and story details. This book did not disappoint. Slow burn but in the BEST way. The time we got to take getting to know both MCs was delightful. Slow but deliberate; their true characters shown through. Plus add in a bit of mystery and boom: electric. This was such a fun read I couldn’t hardly put it down. Please keep writing books like this. Not your typical romance but oh so lovely. Another winner!

Ps. As someone from Washington state I was SO into the Spokane reference (and what I think was a Gonzaga University rename—Go Zags); I absolutely loved it!

This was a fun ride from beginning to end. I loved that this was a retelling of Tangled, but with all the Christina Lauren twists! This was very entertaining and I can’t wait to read more from them!

Thank you NetGalley and Hyperion Avenue Publishing for the arc of this book.

A fairytale in a modern world yet is easily relatable. I really like how easy it was to believe the character REN and she was so endearing. A good telling of a bad boy turned good for the right reasons. An easy fun read. Normally I don’t like books from different perspectives because they end up having the same voice but I feel it really worked in the book.

A delightful story written by the uber talented Christina Lauren. Fans of Tangled and Christina Lauren will not be disappointed. In this version Ren is a sheltered young woman who convinces her parents to let her to to college (with some very strict rules) where she meets and befriends Fitz, a seemingly rich an cavalier college student with no time for the saccharine sweetness of the new girl on campus. But in typical fashion, boy and girl are thrown together under unusual circumstances and both hijinks and sparks ensue.

The authors managed to capture all the fun that people love about Disney's Tangled (Long blonde hair, Pascal, and fireworks included!) and make it into a mostly believable modern love story. In keeping with the theme, it's light on spice, but you can definitely "feel" the chemistry between Ren and Fitz ala Christina Lauren style. Definitely recommend.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Hyperion Publishing for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

What's not to love here? Ren may be a little too over-the-top perfect, but I loved reading about her going from homesteader to college coed. Ren could run the world! Fitz/Edward was a great foil to her character and their banter during their roadtrip was believable and sweet. Add to all that a mystery and a shoot out and I'm sold!

4.5 stars rounding down on Goodreads

This is such a cute retelling of Rapunzel! I loved the naivety, excitement, and romantic angst, I just could not devour this fast enough. So many time the witty banter had me laughing and made me want Fitz and Ren just to instantly fall head over heels.

I LOVED this modern tale of Rapunzel and I think anyone looking for a fun, non-spicy romcom this one needs to be on the top of your TBR.

****Many thanks for Hyperion Avenue and NetGalley for my gifted copy in turn for an honest review!

I loved this book. 🥰 Such a quick and fun read. A modern retelling of the Disney movie Tangled. I loved the characters and the story line. The fun banter between Ren and Fitz. No smut but still a sweet love story.
I laughed and I cried! Love it when a book gives me all the feels. 🫶🏼

Content warnings: kidnapping, blackmail, police raid, shooting

Ren Gylden was raised on a farm in Idaho, sheltered from the world around her. She has no cell phone, no TV, no Internet, not even a landline phone! Her strict parents have finally agreed to let Ren start college as long as she comes home on the weekend to do her chores. She's excited to attend Corona College as a freshman at 23 and is placed in advanced courses because her breadth of self-taught knowledge is far beyond a typical freshman's.

She meets senior Fitz ("just Fitz") and is warned against his charm. While everyone else on campus is charmed by Ren, Fitz seems irritated at her presence. When Ren catches Fitz in a compromising position, she uses the information to her advantage -- she blackmails him into driving her across the country.

Fitz reluctantly agrees and as their trip progresses he's drawn in more by Ren's optimism and joie de vivre. But he's hiding his past from her, and she may find out before he plucks up the courage to tell her himself.

Writing duo Christina Lauren does an amazing job of plucking details from Disney's Tangled and using them to craft a story that's separate from the film but adds subtle nods like Fitz's white Mustang "Max" and her flowing golden locks.

Recommended for Disney fans, romance readers, and teens. None of the content is inappropriate for teenage readers.

Representation: orphan, adult (former child) of the foster care system

This book threw me for a loop. The first two thirds were typical Christina Lauren charming and sweet. I loved the setup and tropes. But the third act completely obliterated that and took away from the enjoyment I thought I had based on the story up until then. The ending was also ridiculously abrubt.
Edit: apparently this is a retelling of a fairytale and there's a reason those are animated. Once you throw real people into it then it's apparent the amount of trauma involved.

Tangled Up In You is a well-writren fish-out-of water story turned romance turned thriller.

This is my first Christina Lauren book and I only picked it up because of the premise (it being inspired by Tangled) and I wasn't necessarily disappointed. There were a lot of things to love about this book and a lot of things that I didn't vibe with.

Let's start with the bad. Ren is SO naive. I understand that it's the point and that she's based off of Rapunzel who is locked up in a tower her whole life but in the beginning she was so naive it was cringe-worthy. I wish the authors would've given her a crush or teenage "fling" because the "falling in love with the first person I meet" trope doesn't sit right with me. And yes, I know, that is exactly Rapunzel and Flynn's dynamic, but I can let it slide for a Disney movie.

Maybe it's because I don't read a lot of straight romances, but the cliches were really cliche-ing here.

Time for the good! I was, like many of the characters, charmed by Ren. The authors did a really good job characterizing the leads. Ren and Fitz's dynamic felt natural and as a reader I felt their connection. The road trip aspect was a really good time.

Overall, it was a fun, enjoyable, and quick read.

Additionally, fans of Tangled will pick up on little inside jokes and references which was fun.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC!

I LOVE this series so much and I hope Disney keeps doing it. Let's get Aladdin next.

That said, this was my least favorite of the series. It took me almost a week to finish it and the ending was wrapped up as such an afterthought. All the action was in the last quarter of the book.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC! I was SO excited.

Christina Lauren deserves every single praise for this. Freaking PERFECTION. 10/10. This was just so so good. I couldn’t get enough of it and wanted a thousand more pages of this. I absolutely love everything they write!

This was my first Christina Lauren book. I think I've heard her name before? I don't know. The story was fantastic, but the female main character was definitely hard to swallow...

I don't know if I will be reading any other books by her!

This book was so well done, taking the story of Tangled and twisting it into a modern day story worked out better than I expected it to! The character development was perfection, I absolutely loved Ren and Fitz's personalities and was often chuckling through many scenes that these two went through. The last 40% of the book was such a whirlwind of events and I didn't expect it to be so sad, chaotic and heartwarming all at the same time.

What originally led me to read this book was the fact that it was written by Christina Lauren and that I looooove Tangled, but now after reading this, I definitely have more interest in reading the other books within the 'Meant To Be" series!

I'd like to thank Net Galley and Hyperion Avenue for this ARC.
This was such an enjoyable read! It was so much fun to read the parallels between tangled and this clever retelling written by two of my favorite authors, Christina and Lauren. They were so creative with all the little tangled references and the ending was a whirlwind of feelings. I love how Ren and Fitz matched Rapunzel and Flynn's energy. I also love how Max and Pascal had an unexpected and silly representation. Overall this was a fun adventurous read!
