Ren has grown up completely off the grid on a homestead with her parents. She finally convinces them to let her go to college at the age of 22. When she arrives, Fitz, a very popular senior has been asked to give her a campus tour. This is their story. A great read by these authors!!
Christina Lauren never fails to make a magically fun and swoon romance book!
Tangled Up In You is a contemporary modern take on Rapunzel and it was perfect. I love Christina Lauren books but this felt original, unique and a book I could not put down. I loved that the story had a bit of a mystery and dark undertone underneath the fun college romance setting. It has the bad boy and good girl trope but I loved that she wanted to go to college and was so smart and kind hearted and sweet
. She has lived such a restricted life due to her parents but when she finds stuff out, they embark on a road-trip and it's the best. I loved seeing the grumpy and sunshine trope because he really does struggle with his feelings of not being able to help being pulled by her sunshine energy and he's protective of her and its also steamy, fun, angsty. I loved their dynamic. It did not feel like a Disney remake which I really loved. I thought they approached in a clever way where it gives thriller meets romance and a bit of the topic of what its like to grow up as a captive and relearn to live within society and unlearn what she has been told and have the ability to have agency and choice and have her voice heard and think for herself. I thought this was emotional as it was fun. I really loved this book and I think fans of Christina Lauren and tangled fans will love this book. I highly recommend this book!
One of my favorite Disney movies is Tangled, so I was so excited when I got this arc!
I loved the proximity trope, I think it was done really well. The change in Fitz's feelings from the first interaction with her, was chefs kiss. I'm all about Grumpy!
👍 Grumpy x Sunshine
👍Dual POV
👍Forced Proximity
👍Slow Burn

I do have to say, I did not really enjoy the college setting. That might be just a personal thing, but I feel like it could have been done much better not in a college setting.
Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this! I will recommend to all my Disney and CL friends.
Thank you Netgalley and Christina Lauren for giving me the opportunity to read this eARC in exchange for my honest review!
This was my first modern day Disney retelling that I’ve read! Tangled in general is such a cute story, and this book was just that. Sometimes I wished it was a little less Disney-esque… but I did enjoy the twist at the end! This story shows off CL’s usual writing style with a touch of romance, heartwarming, and exciting until the end!
- Dual POV
- Slow Burn
- Grumpy x Sunshine
Cute title and just the breath of fresh air I needed. I'll admit to missing the "Tangled" and/or "Rapunzel" references until something caught my eye and connected the dots. It was a fun read!
My favorite Disney movie is Tangled, and this rom-com fairy tale retelling became my first read of 2024. 📚✨ I adore how they transformed a beautiful Disney movie into a modern take on how a lost "princess" would navigate the modern society, embarking on a road trip with a stranger to find her answers. 🌟 The bubbly, optimistic Ren and the grumpy "criminal" Fitz on a road trip together after Ren blackmailed him into helping her—the plot is so similar that I was giggling throughout the entire book! 😄
I loved their forced proximity, the evolution of Fitz's feelings from the first interaction with her, and the best part is that they lived happily ever after!! 🥰 I recommend this to anyone who loves a good Disney retelling with a contemporary romance twist.

Spice very little
Anything to do with tangled is an auto read for me! CLo did it justice. As a sucker for a road trip romance, I absolutely loved this!!
*Big thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this title*
3.5 ⭐️
Some things in life are just certain… and in the bookish world, reading a Christina Lauren novel is just that. Why else would I pick this dynamic duo as my first read of 2024?!?
Despite Ren driving me semi nuts, I came to like her well enough by the end of the book. Fans of CL will appreciate (devour) their seamless writing style, touch of romance, and exciting ending: all present in TUiY.
I love Christina Lauren AND Tangled is one of my favorite disney movies so I was very excited for this book. Unfortunately it fell a bit flat for me. Some parts were cute but I was expecting a bit more & was left a little disappointed.
This book was SO good. Gah. I just loved it and I know how impossibly difficult it can be to write a spin off story of such beloved characters and a story that is already perfect and CLo crushed it. Bravo!!
Sticks very close to the movie. I was hoping it would be a little less Disney-esque, but for the most part I enjoyed it. A quick read.
What a heartwarming, sweet, and fun novel. The first third (or perhaps half) dragged a bit, and took me longer than a rom-com will usually take me to read, but after that it picked up nicely: the action moved on, the slow burn picked up, and some tension appeared. By the end, I was rooting for each character (separately and together), and it all just worked.
Fun, tangled re-telling. (Took me way too long to realize it was a tangled retelling but 🤣) predictable and not quite Christina Lauren’s best work. Their novels are some of my favourite so I was a little disappointed with this one.
I love Christina Lauren, and I was so excited to dive into this book. The premise is super cute (based on Disney's Tangled), and I love all the subtle nods to it through the novel (that bar scene!). There is a really interesting twist that I definitely didn't see coming and really had me hooked. I thought Ren was an adorable character and I loved the tension between her and Fitz. Overall, super cute read and would definitely recommend to any Christina Lauren fans.
Obsessed with Modern day Disney retellings! This one is on Tangled, which I'll admit, isn't one I'm super familiar with. Love how brave Ren was when she ditches her Idaho homestead life and dives headfirst into college in Spokane. In a hilarious series of events, she ends up on a cross country road trip with Fitz.
This book is just sweet. Christina Lauren does it again, writing a feel good, swoony read that is a perfect cute, fun, quick read.
Absolutely loved this take on Rapunzel! It had a different twist than what I was expecting and it was so good! And of course I loved the charm of Fitz. By far my favorite of the Meant to Be series!
I LOVE Christina Lauren and I'm happily adding this to my list of her works that I can't put down! I won't lie, the story is simple and mostly a modern retelling of Disney's "Tangled," but it was such a cute, easy read that can get anyone out of a reading slump! Because of the premise, it was pretty predictable and the characters weren't very deep, but it was still enjoyable and quick-paced! Thanks for the ARC!
I've been waiting for a TANGLED retelling for years...and this one did not disappoint! Christina Lauren managed to perfectly capture the essence of Rapunzel and Flynn in this modern rendition. It was fluffly, it was sweet, it was sexy...just perfect!
I usually LOVE all of Christina Lauren's books but this one I just could not get into. It's an updated storytelling of "Tangled" the Disney movie. Though I appreciate their branching out to something new, it just didn't work for me. I couldn't connect to Ren without thinking about the movie.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.
Another great Christina Lauren read! I think there were some angles that were more of a stretch than some of their other reads, but overall I still loved this read. There was a little bit of suspense/thriller woven into this romantic storyline, and although I avoid suspense/thriller books, I really enjoyed the amount that was woven in to this romantic story line.
