Tangled with a modern day twist! The FMC, Ren, was sheltered her whole life goes to college where she meets Fitz. She can see right through his charm. Something happens (no spoilers) and they end up taking an adventurous road trip. We LOVE forced proximity. A cute read with some adventure - 4 stars.

Christina Lauren has done it again. They consistently write character that you fall in love with. Ren and Fitz are so lovable and have great chemistry. I loved the authors’ interpretation of Rapunzel and highly recommend it to anyone who likes the authors work and the Meant to be Novels.

3.5 stars rounded up. I love these authors, so I was ecstatic to read this book. It was different than their other books in my opinion, since there was less physical chemistry between the main characters. That said, I was really into the story and enjoyed it as a quick read. Predictable ending, but interesting plot.

This book was SO stinking cute. I will admit, it took me a minute to get into it but once I was in, I could not put it down. This was such a cute retelling of Tangled. I'm super familiar with Tangled because it was my daughters favorite movie for a really long time.

Ren is a 22 year old girl who is leaving her homestead for the first time and heading off to college. It took her a long time to convince her parents, Steve & Gloria, to let her go. There she meets Fitz, who has a troubled past. Some things happen during a class one day which lead them on a road trip that changes everything. Ren was such a ray of sunshine and it impossible for people to not fall in love with her. The way their friendship developed was just perfect. And I honestly loved both main character so much.

I feel like the ending was a little rushed but I did find myself getting emotional at the end.

Thank you NetGalley and Hyperion for providing me with this ARC for my honest review.

Holy cow was this book adorable!! First off thanks to NetGalley for the arc. I adore Christina Lauren’s books. I literally squeal when I get approved to read them. Also I love Rapunzel (as does my 8 year old daughter.) We’ve seen Tangled a hundred times. I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about an adult version. When the book starts and “Ren” is on a farm I first thought “oh no” but it quickly did a 180.

Ren (Rapunzel) is 22 years old and for the first time ever- leaving her homestead. Her parents are allowing her to go to Corona College (so cute!) but only Monday-Friday. She’s given strict rules & she sticks out like a sore thumb. But she’s brilliant and self taught. Her classmates go from thinking she’s so strange to being enamored with her. In one of her classes she takes a DNA test & her results are surprising.

She quickly realizes she has to figure out why these results say what they say. She blackmails a popular classmate, Fitz (Flynn Rider), into letting her go on his spring break road trip. She needs to get to Atlanta & he’s headed to Nashville. At first Fitz finds her maddening but quickly changes his tune. I love that they have adventures just like the movie- but modern day ones. Fitz has a rocky backstory and he’s terrified to tell her.

I love the way this story unfolded. It’s not too far fetched to think a girl was completely hidden from society & sheltered. I loved that spin & found it very believable. I loved Ren’s brilliance and innocence. And I loved how Fitz grew into himself. I literally could not put this down. Absolutely loved it!! 4.5 stars!

This was such a cute tangled retelling! It felt like I was reading a Disney story the entire time. It did take a little bit for the storyline to pick up but overall I really enjoyed it.

Thank you so much for the ARC!

Christina Lauren's "Tangled Up in You" is an absolute gem that immerses you in the lives of Ren and Fitz. These two protagonists are so finely drawn, with Fitz's introspective nature beautifully contrasting Ren's spontaneous charm. The storyline is a captivating blend of Fitz's alluring demeanor unraveling against Olivia's vivacity, creating a magnetic pull throughout the story.

In true Christina Lauren fashion, the pacing is impeccable, allowing the blossoming romance to unfold organically, and the authors expertly navigate between tender moments and humorous exchanges.

Christina Lauren's ability to intricately weave the topics of self-discovery and the transformative power of love responsates profoundly throughout the novel and into the story, enriching every page, leaving a lasting impact on readers.

I have read all of the books in the Disney "Meant to Be" series, and have adored them all. This one was no different, and was a beautiful reflection of both the series and Christina Lauren's writing (and what makes them an auto-buy author for me!)

I LOVED this book! I was so disappointed that I started it during my Christmas travels because I couldn’t devour it as fast as I wanted.

This story was a modern day Tangled! The FMC lived on a homestead her whole life and finally gets to go to college and experience the real world. At college, she discovers a secret after doing a DNA test that alters everything she knows about her life. This added mystery to the book which made it even more fun to me!

I absolutely LOVED Fitz. He was such a great MMC and they had amazing chemistry with a slow burn (my favorite). I’m always a sucker for road trip romance and forced proximity and this book had both!

This story was engaging during every page - it was a 5 star read for me!

Tangle Up In You
Great story of two young collage students living in two tangled worlds. A very entertaining reads as they cross from state to state. If you love road-trips, forced proximity, and lovers with a history then you’ll like this. Not much spice in this story either for those who like to know that beforehand. But overall, it was enjoyable read.

This book was so cute and fun. I haven't read any of the other books in the series, but this was a pretty spot on modern retelling of the movie. I loved how sweet Ren and Fitz were. And while I love spice in books, I am happy that this was a clean book that didn't go beyond kissing. I would've been uncomfortable reading that with how sheltered Ren had been her entire life.

If you are a fan of Tangled, then 10/10 would recommend.

3.5 stars- this was cute and I liked the Tangled adaptation. It did feel a little YA at times, and the plot was quite predictive, but I did enjoy it!

“Tangled Upon In You” is charming and lovable just like Ren herself! It got a little darker than I was expecting, but the ending was satisfying if a bit rushed. The plot unfolds with some unexpected twists, which kept me engaged and wanting more. A very loose interpretation of the Tangled/Rapunzel fairytale, its unique storyline and heartfelt moments set it apart. More sweet than spicy, "Tangled Up In You" is a fun read that I would recommend to fans of Christina Lauren’s other NA books.

Ren is a girl who lives completely off the grid and doesn’t use technology.

Fitz is the rich, handsome college boy who has everything going for him.

Their world’s collide in college and are on the adventure of a lifetime.

My review: This book is a retelling of the Disney movie Tangled, which just so happens to be one of my all time favorite Disney movie. I could easily see the similarities ie, animal friend Pascal and frying pan references, and the plot, but the retelling fell short. I was not a huge fan of Fitz and the relationship between him and Ren felt forced. The ending came up fast and abruptly ended. Lot of the story was drawn out and the end appeared out of no where. I had 85% of the book left to go, but since I knew how the story was supposed to end, was baffled how only 15% was allocated to the turning point of the book. I do wish we could have learned more about Ren discovering and building her relationship with Chris. Overall it was a cute retelling but fell slightly flat for me.

Thank you to Christina Lauren, Hyperion Avenue and NetGalley for the advanced copy of this book!

Ren. Ren. Ren. Let down your hair.

I went into this blind. Quite literally blind because I'm not familiar with the Rapunzel story, or 'Tangled' by Disney (talk about sheltered). Started off a bit slow. I fell asleep multiple times and struggled to keep my eyes open, but once I got to about 30% of the novel it was a breeze. I enjoyed it from then on. The story was cute, the ending... particularly the last ¼ of the page was disappointing to say the least. Hoping maybe there would be an epilogue chapter or something when the book is actually published.

I wasn't sure if I was going to like this initially if i'm being honest, and that feeling rang true in certain chapters occasionally, but overall I did really enjoy reading this!

Tangled is my favorite Disney movie and this was such a fun little Tangled-adjacent book, with enough twists to make it interesting and a unique story.

I truly thought I would dislike this book, but there is a lot to love in both Edward and Ren. Both have moments of being caricatures and having shallow personalities, but they each grow (not dramatically) over the course of the book. I love that Ren is starting college at a "non-traditional" age, even if it's just 22, and that she is highly skilled and knowledgeable. I also appreciated it and think the book will be appealing to more readers, given that the romance is leaning toward PG-13, as opposed to explicit scenes.

Ren and Fitz in this adult romance retelling of Rapunzel is PERFECTION...for every single Disney lover out there I don't think I need to say anything more!
Ren was living a sheltered life on her homestead (Rapunzel in her tower), until she enrolled in college at the age of 22. She met Fitz (Flynn), the bad boy/criminal and after they take a road trip together (for reasons I won't mention as to not spoil anything) he ends up being the hero and saving her in the end. It's the perfect Happily Ever After.
I highly recommend Tangled Up In You

Christina Lauren do it again (that feels weird to write, grammatically speaking, even though I know it’s correct)!

I went into this book, fully aware it’s a play on Disney’s 𝘛𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘦𝘥. The parallels were clear, but done beautifully. It doesn’t come off with that “pathetic fanfic” vibe some other trilogies we know of (insert coughing here) clearly have.

This story thoroughly explores the details of what the life of a hidden-away kidnap victim could look like. Thankfully, this story is a sunnier potential compared to so many survival stories we hear on the news, but could be equally as probable as anything else.

I enjoyed the little “Easter eggs” throughout the book that point to the 𝘛𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘦𝘥 storyline. Both heroines’ names begin with “R.” Both heroes’ names begin “E. Fitz…” Both kidnapper/mother figures’ names begin with “G,” and that’s barely scratching the surface.

My one, sole disappointment with the story was how it ended. What could have been written as a last epilogue chapter was, instead, concluded with a hasty sentence and “The End” slapped on the end of it. After all the painstaking detail put into the entire story, that conclusion was a real letdown, to the point I had to deduct a star for it.
