A modern retelling of Disney Tangled by Christina Lauren-woo Hoo! I couldn't wait to read this.
Ren has lived on the homestead with her parents living a life of routine taking care of the animals and doing her chores. She has never gone to school. She has taught herself from books from the library. Her dream has been to leave and go to college. Now that she is 22 years old her parents have finally agreed to let her go.

She may go but has to come home on weekend to do chores. She has also has rules to live by at college one is never leaving campus. Since she doesn't have a cell phone or used a computer or slept away from home she is socially awkward around other kids.

She takes a class and spits into a tube to learn about her ancestry. She gets back results that shock her as her parents may have lied to her. This puts her taking matters into her own hands and going on a road trip with Fritz. The roadtrip shenanigans make me laugh and think this should be made into a movie. I love watching this relationship grow. This was so well written and executed and I loved it.

4.5 stars out of 5!

This truly is a real life Rapunzel story and it was so good! I haven't read the other books in the Meant to Be series but I am adding them to my list. I liked how this book was written in duel POV's and we got to see how both Ren and Fitz aka Edward were feeling. The book was very fast paced and I found it hard to put down. Overall, this was such a good book and I'd highly recommend it.

Ren has been raised on a homestead with her 2 parents and never has been to a classroom. She has learned everything she knows being homeschooled and reading every book she can get her hands on. She convinces her parents to let her go to college and cannot wait. When Ren arrived at school the first day, she mets Fitz. He was assigned to give her a tour of the campus and they later find out they have a class together. Fitz has a bad past but puts on a good front. One day Ren finds Fitz in a bad position and holds blackmail over him to get him to take her on his road trip to Nashville so she can get to Atlanta on a wild goose chase. Without giving too much away, the rest of the book is action packed and will keep you turning the pages as quickly as you can.

Thanks Netgalley and Hyperion Avenue for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Christina and Lauren are my FAVORITE author duo EVER. There's only been one book I haven't loved of theirs and that has nothing to do with them and everything to do with me hating Groundhog Day. LOL
This was a great addition to the series that takes Disney princesses and puts them in current real life stories.

No bro when they say Tangled retelling-- they mean it. Ren was fully a Disney Princess, but I don't want to sell her short. Dual POV meant you really see Ren's actions and thoughts in a way that inspires a surprising amount of depth. I was KICKING my feet, Flynn Rider-core indeed.

P.S. I opened this book at 10:30pm and did not close it until I finished at 2:30am.

Tangled Up In You is the fourth installment in the A Meant To Be series and it can be read as a standalone. This is a modern day retelling of the classic Rapunzel and draws inspiration from the Disney film, Tangled. The novel is about Ren, a self-taught, off-the-grid woman attending college for the first time, and Fitz, a student with a meticulously planned future. Their lives intertwine through an immunology seminar assignment, leading them on an unexpected road trip where they discover that the answers to their dreams might lie in their unlikely partnership.

I had mixed feelings about this book. I loved the backdrop and was captivated by all the intriguing characters. Yet, I couldn't help noticing striking similarities to Kiss the Girl, the third book in the A Meant To Be series, especially in the road trip scenes. The pacing of the book seemed to be a bit off to me. The beginning of the book was really intriguing, but once we got to the road trip part, it was pretty slow. The last quarter of the book felt rushed and packed with events with little to no explanations which led to an abrupt ending. I was also surprised to find this book to be more young adult versus adult. Contrary to the previous books in the series which featured mid-20s adults, this book felt more like a young adult novel, with Ren and Fitz behaving more like teenagers despite being in their early 20s. Fitz’s character was well-developed and was fascinated by his backstory, but Ren’s golden retriever energy and naivety were so excessive that it was off-putting for me. Unfortunately, this was my least favorite in the series, but it was entertaining to read so I rated it 3 stars.

Tangled Up in You by Christina Lauren is a really cute modern reimagining of Disney’s Tangled movie. I’m very familiar with the movie storyline, and it was so fun trying to spot all the Easter eggs and nods to the original story, of which there are many! The authors did an amazing job sticking to the plot of Tangled, while still writing a very captivating standalone novel.

Knowing how the original story goes, the book was fairly predictable for me, but in this case, I’d say that’s a good thing. I couldn’t wait to see how the authors were going to tie in the next major plot point in a more modern way, and they completely nailed it every time. I also appreciated that the book is pretty PG, since it’s associated with Disney, and also because Ren/Rapunzel is such a sweet, innocent character. The main characters were both very lovable, and really captured the essence so well of the characters they were modeled after. It’s not necessarily your typical Christina Lauren book, but their experience writing a witty story with clever banter in this dual POV still shines through.

I can always count on Christina Lauren to give me a silly little rom-com when I need it most. This was such a fresh and heartfelt take on tangled and I adored it.

Absolutely delightful! Christina Lauren’s spin on tangled and she successfully delivered a fun cutesy tale for us all!

The story follows our FMC Ren, she has grown up somewhat isolated, away from the big real world, technology, internet etc and yet all she yearns for is friends, love and worldly experience.

At the ripe age of 22 she is finally given permission to go off on her own to college so long as she adheres to a strict set of rules. Although she is somewhat naive and quirky, everybody quickly falls for her charms and winning personality.

Her world comes crashing down when a DNA test reveals some shocking information, and she reacts by asking a boy to take her on a Spring Break road trip with him.

We have some excellent tropes here like forced proximity, one bed, grumpy / sunshine (she ofc being the sunshine), closed door romance. The road trip aspect was a lot of fun to read.

It doesn’t matter if you are familiar with or have watched tangled previously, you absolutely do not need to in order to follow and enjoy this novel.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Hyperion avenue for allowing me to read this book!

This was so much fun! I adored this romance more than any romance I have read this year! And the fact that it is retelling of the adorable Disney film, "Tangled", should make any romance or Disney lover want to pick up this book as quick as possible! I loved the characters, and the plot was really original (which is nice because so many rom-com's these days follow the same=old trope), so it was very refreshing! I highly recommend this latest from Christina Lauren, and know fans of hers will likely believe this to be her best yet!

Tangled Up in You by Christina Lauren is a captivating and modern twist on the classic tale of Rapunzel. Ren, a self sufficient young woman off the grid, meets Fitz, a guy with a carefully planned future. The collision of their worlds and the unexpected turns of a road trip set the stage for a heartwarming and humorous adventure. The author weaves a delightful narrative that explores love, self discovery, and the unforeseen paths that lead us to where we truly belong. A charming addition to the Meant to Be collection, this book combines wit, romance, and the magic of finding the unexpected in life's journey.

This modern day story of Tangled is beautifully written. It tells from both Ren and Fitz’s point of view. Ren has to live off the grid and doesn't know how to use an iPhone or the internet goes to college. Fitz has a troubled past. The book contains past and present moments, as well as other things, including true love.

Thanks to the publishers at Hyperion Avenue and NetGalley for giving me an opportunity to read this book and write a review.

This book was so good and so precious. I have not read a Christina Lauren book that I don't automatically fall in love with.

The characters, the story, their writing (descriptions and all) and the way that my heart raced at a certain part of the book!? WOOOOW

If you love Disney's Tangled and if you love a good RomCom then you need to pick this one up! This book is SO good! I could not put this book down. The way that Christina Lauren brought this story to life (to make it more relatable)? It was just SO good! Please, add this to your TBR and read it. 😌

A fun modern retelling of Disney's Tangled. I loved Rapunzel and this was definitely a wittier, romantic, modern day version. Christina Lauren did a fantastic job with is and added their own twists. Highly recommend to those who love Disney stories.

This is the fairy tale retelling of Tangled from your favorite aunt. Think Princess Bride of Disney movies. It has everything, fighting, revenge, bikers, bad jokes, and true love. If someone wants to dip their toe into Romancelandia, this is the perfect stepping stone. It is bright and funny and all the characters are refreshingly familiar without being caricatures.

The book is perfect for anyone who loves what romance is at its core: people who care for each other and just want the other to be happy. Ren is optimistic and so well written that I found myself smitten. Fitz is charming, but also just so kind. What could be a smarmy version of a Disney bad boy, turns into a warm fleshed out main character.

I think that Christina Lauren's many strengths lie in the way they make me as a reader care so much about their characters individually as well as as a couple, and this might be their best ones to date. While the book does adhere to the overall plot of the movie, it feels like a Christina Lauren book at it's core. And who doesn't understand happily ever after like romance writers?

Ren has never held an iPhone, googled the answer to a question, or followed a crush on social media. What she has done: Read a book or two, or three (okay, hundreds). Taught herself to paint. Built a working wind power system from scratch. But for all the books she’s read, Ren has never found one that’s taught a woman raised on a homestead and off the grid for most of her twenty-two years how to live in the real world. So when she finally achieves her lifelong dream of attending Corona College, it feels like her life is finally beginning. Fitz has the rest of his life mapped out: Graduate from Corona at the top of his class, get his criminal record wiped clean, and pass himself off as the rich, handsome player everyone thinks he is. He’s a few short months from checking off step one of his plans when Ren Gylden, with her cascading blonde hair and encyclopedic brain, crashes into his life, and for the first time Fitz’s plan is in jeopardy.

But a simple assignment in their immunology seminar changes the course of both their lives, and suddenly they’re thrown out of the frying pan and into the fire on a road trip that will lead them in the most unexpected directions. Out on the open road, the world somehow shifts, and the unlikely pair realize that, maybe, the key to the dreams they've both been chasing have been sitting next to them the whole time.

This was such a fun retelling of Tangled. I love the isolated and innocent Ren. She might not have a lot of experience in the world, but she can hold her own against the world anyway! Fitz is the perfect man for her. He's getting his life together and along she comes to knock him off his game!

This was a bit slow in the middle, but the ending definitely made up for it. What a wonderful homage to the original story with a bunch of fun twists and turns to make it modern. Loved this so much!
