I have this a good try but it just couldn't keep my attention. It dragged on a lot with information that wasn't necessary.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this arc in exchange for an honest review!
This book tackles the subject of divorce and effect on the family unit. It started off a bit slow, but it turned out to be a good read, with twists and turns along the way. I did enjoy it on the whole.
This is a book I would normally read but I am so glad I gave it a chance I really enjoyed it. It was very well written and pace was just right. I was hooked from start to finish and I really enjoyed the ending which I wasn’t expecting. Highly recommend this. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my advanced copy.
Lola's parents, Greg and Madeline are getting a divorce. Greg definitely does not want a divorce, he loves Madeline.
He is a afraid of the damage a divorce will do to his ten year old daughter who is wiser than her years.
I thought this dragged on a little.
I found Madeline arrogant and manipulative, and Greg came over as weak.
There isn't much to say other than divorce can damage the entire family, the lies and deceit, the pettiness, manipulation and the sadness that an era is over.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book.
The pace and plot twists in this book kept me hooked right until the very end I'd definitely recommend this book.
Wow, where do I even begin, I will admit I stayed up until this mornings sunrise as I needed to know how this amazing book ended.
The Custody Battle by Ellie Monago is a page turner about two parents going through a divorce and the child stuck in the middle of it. What started as a simple divorce turned into so much more, relationships and friendships are put to the test and we start questioning the way the parent’s actions are having an impact on the child.
I had moments in the book that I felt like shouting at the way both the parents were acting and the decisions and actions they took with each other especially how the parents were using their child as a pawn in their game trying to make one another look bad in others perspectives which I know can be common in divorces and child custody cases and in which the author did a great job on how infuriating the situation can be for children.
The book is exactly what the title is all about, how quickly everything can get out of hand and who will end up paying the price for it all.
Everything about The Custody Battle is cut throat, once you start reading you’re engrossed and can’t stop reading till you’re at the end which I thought was an unexpected ending and I would recommend to get your hands on this book, you won’t be disappointed.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publishers and Bookouture for the copy of this arc in exchange of my honest review.
Divorce is hard but hardest on the kids!!!
This book title is exactly what it's about and hoe far it will go and the price that is paid but this is next level reality.
Great writing and read. I will read more from this author great read
Thanks NetGalley for letting me read and review
'Wow! I loved this book, it kept me awaken till the end. A lot of this tsp you won’t see coming. It also it’s a compelling story about how easy to lost yourself in the end of a marriage, and that the old adage it.s true, you can’t really hate someone if you didn’t love them before. I loved above all the character of Lola, it reminds us that children needs our care and love, and often we forget it.
I highly recommend this book.
Battling couples losing all perspective in the course of - or after - a divorce is, sadly, all too common. And that's particularly sad because the process is already so hard on children.
But the worst is when one parent (or both) decides to use a child as a pawn in the power games they are playing with their former spouse. And that too, is all too common.
The book is about what it says on the label. It is also a cautionary tale about how out of hand a custody battle can get, and who ultimately pays the price for it. Though some of what takes place here is next level stuff.
This novel is an absorbing read that reader more or less flies through. With Ellie Monago, you know you are in skilled hands.
This talented author has written a page turner. Divorce and children...two people who supposedly used to be in love...now splitting...divorce...and lawyers come into the picture...all the positive intentions this couple had promised are now in the past. The child is a pawn between the two of them. How much percentage of time which this little kid spend with one parent or the other? The title explains the book. Don't try to discern the ending...Thanks Netgalley.
