Wow, this one kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish! All the stars! Lisa Regan does an amazing job of not only bringing her characters to life but also making you so invested in what's happening that I couldn't put this book down. I love the characters, the setting was isolated, and with twists and turns around every corner you never knew what was going to happen next. I loved watching Josie put all the puzzle pieces together to solve this case!
Josie is up at an isolated retreat, trying to deal with her PTSD stemming from... well a lot of different horrible things and tragic losses that have happened in her life, but most recently the death of a good friend. When a blizzard rolls in the body of one of the fellow retreaters is found. With the blizzard no one is getting off the mountain, food and firewood are dwindling, and it seems like someone with the retreat could be a killer, and more than one of them is hiding something.
Poor Noah if he didn't have bad luck in this story he would have no luck at all, constantly being delayed in his mission to get to Josie, and finding himself in some dangerous situations.
This book was not the Josie Quinn investigation readers are used too. There is so much to this story. As Josie struggles with processing her grief, she finds herself participating in a retreat geared for individuals recovering from trauma. The remote mountain setting with strangers is out of Josie's comfort zone, and when a winter storm hits the retreat is extended. When a body is found, Josie snaps into investigator mode and everyone becomes a suspect and no one knows when they will get off the mountain. The storyline was compelling layered with suspenseful moments and unexpected twists. I especially enjoyed the way Josie had to investigate without access to her standard procedures. A fantastic installment!
Once again a Josie Quinn novel was just what I needed! Thank you Netgalley and Lisa Regan for allowing me access to the ARC!!!
I am a huge fan of the Josie Quinn world, I would recommend starting right from the beginning though because the characters are built up throughout the series.
Loved -
Noah's POV
Josie trying to "Face her Fears" regarding her past trauma with her mother and losing people close to her. Working on herself for once.
I really liked that there was an entirely different setting for this book. It was interesting.
Suspenseful right from the start!
I LOVED the twist in this book and did not see it coming at all!!
Great addition to the series, but like I said - I would start at the first book. The growth in characters is great to read!
Face Her Fear is book 19 of the Josie Quinn series and just like the other books in the series was an amazing read! I found it to be a page turner and with a lot of twists that i didn’t see coming. The plot was great, the story flowed beautifully and the suspense and mystery was intricately woven into the story. I loved seeing Josie and Noah, who are total couple goals! Even when going through the hardest of times and facing more bad news Josie continuously attempts to pick up the pieces of her life, to be better than she ever has been, she never gives up. Josie inspires me and i have to say this was such an intriguing and unique read- the suspense was on point and it was so different and i just loved it. I did not see the killer coming in this book! This was really a testament to Josie’s strength- she does the work to get through her trauma whilst also doing whatever she can to protect others. I loved the whole crime element but even more i loved seeing Josie trying so hard with working through her trauma and how much she loved Noah and he her. I loved seeing my favourite secondary characters- The 5 patients at the retreat, Gretchen, Chief Chitwood and who doesn’t love Trout!
I’m a Josie Quinn series fanatic and i don’t see myself ever missing a book by Lisa Regan because her work continuously impresses me!
Again, thank you NetGalley, Bookouture and especially Lisa Regan for another great Josie Quinn book. I am very pleased to say that I enjoyed #19 even more than several of the preceding books. Oftentimes, when a series gets as long as Josie Quinn it becomes a bit stale or formulaic. Not so, Josie and friends, I'm happy to say.
In some ways this was written in the style of Agatha Christie, perhaps just with the slightest whisper of Agatha over Lisa's shoulder. Taking place at a trauma retreat, Josie and several other "complex" trauma survivors are snowbound in the remote mountains of Pennsylvania and then of all things (tongue in cheek) a murder occurs. Josie, without her team, weapon, or crime scene equipment tries to keep this murder a secret from all, but one of the other guests. Armed with only her knowledge and skills, she undertakes an investigation and tries to keep everyone else alive. Noah figures prominently through much of the book as he a Josie had a disappointment and disagreement just prior to her leaving for the retreat.
Lisa has done some of her best work in Face Her Fear. It revealed a more complicated and emotional side of Josie than I have come to expect, but one which I sincerely hope to see more often.
I can't tell you more or it will certainly ruin what is one of her best pieces of work. I am so looking forward to #20. Don't miss Face Her Fear or you will certainly miss out. Thanks again NetGalley!
Face Her Fear (Detective Josie Quinn Book 19) by Lisa Regan. Josie is seeking help for her PSTD at a retreat which gets cut off from the outside world when a fierce blizzard targets the area. The series is still going strong with a new and convolved case that Josie solves mostly on her own with insights coming from her memories of Met and their working together. Ms Regan keeps the series fresh and exciting to read. Looking forward to another case with Josie and her team.
Thank you to the Lisa Regan, Bookouture. and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.
Josie Quinn is back in another thriller. Josie is off trying to work through her personal grief when a member of the retreat she’s at is killed. Now trying to carefully figure out what happened a blizzard comes barreling down on them. With little resources Josie must work hard and fast to get a grip on the situation. It will not be easy.
This is full if twists and surprises Josie doesn’t even see until she’s smacked in the face with the revelations.
A must read for any Lisa Regan fan or any reader who enjoys a great crime thriller
Thank you #NetGalley #Bookouture #FaceHerFear for this Arc
Josie goes to a retreat to try and help her with the loss of a team member and her PTSD. They are up high on a mountain when a major snowstorm hits. They are there, snowed in when they find the body of another person at the retreat is found, things go from bad to worse. No phones, no cell phone coverage, only a generator for electricity and supplies are low. Will they be able to survive this retreat and find the killer? I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Another excellent addition to the Josie Quinn series. A bit different from the previous books in the series, in that Josie is stranded in a remote mountain location, but it kept me gripped until the end. There is plenty of suspense and tension and I highly recommend this series. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.
As an avid reader and huge Lisa Regan fan I was delighted to receive an ARC of the newest Josie Quinn book. I started reading it during the before Christmas craziness and attributed that to why I could quite get sucked into it like I usually do with her books. I do think that played a big part in me love love loving this book, but also I felt like the “group of people snowed in at a remote location” story had been kind of overdone this year. I continued reading tho, because I can’t let Josie down. Once I got about midway the book started picking up for me. I have to say that I was very shocked by the ending. Lisa did a great job on that twist! I do appreciate how Mettner continues to be a part of the series even tho he’s gone. I think a big part of me not loving this book was that I missed the other characters from the series. It’s just not the same without Gretchen and the Chief. Overall, I enjoyed the book, but I’m looking forward to the next book with Josie and Noah back in Denton and finding out about this new detective.
Just when you think Lisa can’t get any better she pulls it out of the bag with this one. Great read. Josie is out of her comfort zone on a retreat in the mountains. What could go wrong? It’s a fast pace read from start to finish.
Rating: ⭐⭐️⭐️ (3/5 stars)
In "Face Her Fear," the 19th installment of the Josie Quinn series by Lisa Regan, Detective Josie Quinn, recovering from her team member's death, attends a Pennsylvania trauma retreat alone. The book diverges from the usual Josie Quinn style, taking on a murder mystery tone, which might not be to everyone's liking. While the focus shifts to new characters at the retreat, away from the beloved ones, the narrative intensifies as Josie faces isolation, hidden cameras, and a deadly killer. Overall, it's not a book I love, given my attachment to the usual characters, but it's not something I hate either. The change in style and character focus might resonate differently with fans of the Josie Quinn series.
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book and am I SOO glad I did!
The plot of this book was a little different compared to the rest of the series but I honestly couldn’t have loved it more! It worked for the story and the series just keeps getting better! 🤩💗
If you haven’t read this series yet- what are you waiting for?! 💗
⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Detective Josie Quinn is back in an all new way in Face Her Fear! Having gone on a retreat to the mountains (in winter) after a fight with her husband, Noah, Josie is separated from her team when, unsurprisingly, things go wrong in the murderous kind of way. Unlike previous entries in this series, Josie and Noah are separated for the majority of the book, with even lesser focus on other supporting characters. There’s little Gretchen, Chitwood, Amber, and the many other characters we’ve come to love, and no action in Denton, PA. It’s different, and for a while I was concerned at how slow things were going. Then a body is found, and the normal chaos ensues to solve the murder. This book was familiar but new, and it is interesting to see how Lisa Regan changes things up to surprise readers in book 19. While I’d love to see more of the characters I have come to love, this book still delivers a good mystery and growth for the characters involved. My love for this series keeps growing, and I’m happy that Face Her Fear adds to this love!
Thank you @netgalley and @bookouture for an ARC of Face Her Fear, Josie Quinn book 19!

This book is well written and has excellent characters, and the plot is really intricate and well thought out. Easy to read and entertaining.
Josie joins a spiritual group retreat to help her cope lwith the stress of her friend and colleague Mettner’s death. The resort’s caretaker travelled down the mountain for supplies with their Sat phone and hasn’t returned. A major blizzard has made the road impassable and one of the group mysteriously goes missing. The next morning they find the body of their missing member. It looks like hypothermia, but Josie suspects she was strangled. Is one of their group a killer? Josie couldn’t save Mettner, but can she find the strength to save the group and herself?
Book 19 in the series and they just keep getting better. The remote mountain survival setting as well as the emotional stress of the group made this one hard to put down.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Face Her Fear, Josie Quinn book 19, by Lisa Regan.
This may just be my favorite book this year. Lisa has outdone herself on this one.
It has the feel of a closed door mystery... that doesn't take place in a locked room. Josie goes on a retreat to try to focus on her recovery from past traumas (I recommend reading the first 18 books first, but Lisa does do a great job of giving the highlights as needed). Because this is a Josie Quinn book, you know someone is getting murdered on this retreat. Throw in unfavorable weather and a remote location and you have the perfect setting. I won't say more because I don't want to spoil anything. Ten stars. Absolutely loved it.

I really enjoy this series. In this book, Josie is without her team and is on a retreat for individuals to work through trauma they’ve experienced in their lives. She has to work through clues, with limited resources, to figure out who is killing people at the retreat. Fans of detective mysteries will like this one!
This was a bit of a departure from the usual, as this book sees Josie literally isolated from her team and her husband. That took some getting used to, but as I've said before, I'm always a sucker for a variation on And Then There Were None, which this kinda gives. It's also a bit slow to start, but there's a sense of danger here that isn't always there in the other books. So I liked it, as I've liked every book to date in this series.
Lisa Regan and Face Her Fear - Josie Quinn's 19th Adventure. Please clear your schedule, grab some strong coffee, and prepare for an all-nighter! You will not be able to put this one down. Lisa once again sucks you in from the first page and keeps you captive to the last word... keeping you on the edge of your seat all the while. Everyone in my house knows that when I'm with Josie Quinn, I'm unavailable to associate with the real world. Thank you Lisa for smashing another great read out of the ballpark!!
