Face Her Fear shows a vulnerable side to Josie Quinn as she is still reeling from all her recent losses.

Josie and a small group totalling seven are attending a retreat to learn how to deal with trauma.

The retreat is in a remote area and as luck would have it a blizzard to end all blizzards is approaching.

You can feel the wind, the cold and the atmosphere will have you turning up the heat.

One of the group Meg is found murdered .

It can only be one of the group that is murderer.

Secrets, misdirection and hidden pasts are facing Josie as she tries to solve the crime.

Food is running out and so is fuel and the tension mounts.

Lisa Regan has given us a different look into Josie and Noah and I really enjoyed the book.

I will be first in line for (hard to believe) Book 20.

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for a mesmerizing read.

This was a new setting for Josie with more of a locked room vibe. I enjoyed the mystery and cast of characters but did miss some of the police procedural aspects usually present in Josie’s books.

Part of a series featuring Detective Josie Quinn. This book delves deeply into the heart of Josie, while she tries to solve a murder. A different kind of story while no less enthralling.

Relatable characters, an engaging story and twists you’ll never predict no matter how good you are at it. And always the one final twist that you really didn’t see coming.
Grab this one or any of the author’s books at curl up and enjoy the wild ride. You won’t be disappointed.

I love diving into a Josie Quinn book by author Lisa Regan. Face Her Hear (Book 19) has Josie at a secluded retreat with 5 other attendees. A blizzard is coming, and Josie is worried they will get trapped. She and Noah fought before she left, and she’s reluctant to contact Noah for help. This is slightly different from the other Josie Quinn books in that the first part is about Josie and her being at the retreat.

But then a suspicious death happens, and off the story goes. The weather is like a character in and of itself. I found myself shivering in some of the scenes and how the author described what was happening.

I was all over the place trying to figure out who was involved, what was going to happen, and how it would all end. The Josie Quinn series is one of my favorite series. I love the characters, the storylines, and how the author weaves the story and keeps you guessing until the end.

Face Her Fear is a great addition to this series. I would highly recommend this book, series, and author. Please keep the Josie Quinn books coming. Such a great series and the characters are very memorable and feel like old friends.

At nineteen books into the series, I am constantly amazed at Lisa Regan’s imagination to find new scenarios for her amazing detective - Josie Quinn. This is a departure in that Josie is isolated at a mountain retreat where she’s meant to work on healing from several traumatic events, including a lost officer and a personal medical issue.

There are five other guests, along with the trauma psychologist. Josie begins her sessions, but then one of the other participants is murdered. Not only is Josie without her team members, but she has very little connectivity, and then a snowstorm really socks them in.

I was stumped in this one, trying to assemble the puzzle. I wondered if there was an outsider who had infiltrated the retreat or if it was one of the participants. Things are really getting dire when the food supply and the ability to stay warm dwindle.

Noah sets out to save Josie, but he’s sidelined, and I wondered if this would end in tragedy. Josie is at a severe disadvantage in this one, and she’s challenged in all new ways. I’m not sure how she’s ever going to heal from this trauma. I don’t think another retreat is in her future!

I can't wait for #20 and a return to Denton.

This was such a great story, as is typical for this series! While on a mountain retreat specialized for victims of severe trauma, Josie and her fellow attendees suffer even more when one of them goes missing and is soon discovered dead. Everyone fears that there is a killer among the group – they are high up on a mountain isolated by a blizzard, so it’s unlikely to be a random attack. And because of their isolation, it’s beyond difficult for Josie to maintain order.

There’s no phone, no cell service, and all the roads are blocked. It’s not in Josie’s jurisdiction, but as an officer of the law she does her best to ensure that the crime scene is secured, and the rules followed whenever possible. It’s all she can do to keep everyone calm and focused on surviving through the blizzard with few supplies. For once, identifying the killer isn’t the highest priority. Away from her team, isolated with panicked trauma victims, is this the one case that Josie won’t survive?

This is such a fast-paced engaging story that will have you suspecting everyone. There are only 6 attendees and the retreat leader, so it’s very close quarters for being trapped with a possible murderer. They alternate between fearing each other to bickering with each other to supporting each other through their predicament. You must pay close attention to each character and the little info that they provide about themselves. Of course, that’s assuming that they’re telling the truth…

You cannot let this book pass you by! It’s a must-read for everyone - new fans or old, you will be so glad you read this captivating thriller!

This was my first Josie Queen book, but hey why not jump in at book 19??? It definitely can read as a stand alone novel, however be warned it will probably make you put the rest of the series on your TBR list.
A wonderful psychological thriller set in the setting of a PTSD retreat on a mountain. When they get snowed in, will Josie make it off the mountain alive?

I received this as a digital ARC from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

Amazing!!! This was an entirely new Josie Quinn setting and experience, and I loved it! After the loss experienced a couple of books ago, a change of setting was a perfect choice here. If you enjoy winter blizzard, locked room reads, this is for you! Josie is on a retreat with others who have severe trauma and PTSD. After a murdered body is found and no one can leave the mountain, she realizes she is not safe with this group of people. I loved way this story was told, while still incorporating the main characters through text messages or Josie’s own thoughts. I also really enjoyed having Noah’s perspective throughout this book! Another amazing story from Lisa Regan!

Wow and wow again what a superb read this latest book in the Detective Josie Quinn series is and it is by far the best one yet and yes I know I say that every time but I promise you that it really is a read that grabbed me from the off and never let go. I loved the way this book was slightly different from the previous ones in as much as it is mainly centred around Josie who is at a trauma retreat in a remote location when a blizzard hits and then a body is found and all it not quite as it seems!!
This was a read that had everything I love in a book a gripping story, super location, brilliant characters and wonderful writing from Lisa Regan as always, many thanks to her for a 5 star readI I absolutely loved . So please be sure not this miss this it’s as my dad used to say a real belter!
My thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

This nineteenth book in Lisa Regan’s Detective Josie Quinn series is more of a psychological suspense than a murder investigation and the pacing is therefore quite different. Josie has finally agreed to go on a week-long retreat for people suffering PTSD. On top of her traumatic childhood she has experienced additional trauma in her job that she has never addressed properly, including the murder of her beloved grandmother and more recently the killing of her police partner Mettner in front of her. Her recent discovery that she and Noah won’t be able to conceive the child they want has also put strain on their relationship and affected her badly.

The retreat is in a hunting lodge in the mountains in Pensylvannia. Apart from Sandrine, the psychologist running the program and the lodge caretaker Connor, five other people with PTSD are attending the retreat. Josie becomes friendly with Alice an ER nurse who like Josie has seen a lot of trauma through her job and also warms to the bubbly Meg, but the other three Brian, Nicola and Taryn seem to be keeping secrets to themselves and seem to have another agenda for attending the course.

When one of the group disappears and is found dead outside in the snow, Josie suspects she has been murdered and that the killer is amongst the those on the mountain. With a massive storm approaching mountain and hardly any phone signal, the group becomes trapped on the mountain with their heating and supplies running out until they can be rescued. Connor left before the storm hit to fetch help and supplies but has not returned. Josie must use all her wits and training to keep everyone alive and survive this ordeal. When he heard about the storm, Noah set out to rescue Josie but has run into unexpected danger himself.

I enjoyed the change of pace in this episode. It took us away from Josie’s team and a police investigation and into unfamiliar territory for her. The opening chapter is intriguing, but will take some time to mesh with the rest of the book and make sense. The suspense builds gradually in the first half of the book as the scene is set and then really ramps up in the later half once people become stressed about being stranded and start distrusting each other. The ending comes together quite fast and with some surprise disclosures. Josie really deserves a long holiday after this one before going back to work … and facing Mettner’s replacement who looks like he might be trouble.

In Lisa Regan's riveting detective thriller, Face Her Fear, the nineteenth installment in the Josie Quinn series, readers are thrust into a gripping tale of suspense as Detective Josie Quinn navigates uncharted territory. Stranded in an isolated trauma retreat amidst a snowstorm, Josie faces personal demons while tackling a locked-room mystery with five other strangers seeking treatment for PTSD. Regan's departure from the typical police procedural adds a fresh layer of complexity to the narrative, showcasing the author's versatility. The emotionally charged journey delves into themes of trauma, trust, and acceptance, with Josie's internal struggles taking center stage. While the introduction of a new character and a rushed ending raise some points of contention, the overall impression is one of admiration for Regan's daring narrative choices. Face Her Fear stands as a compelling and thought-provoking addition to the Josie Quinn series, leaving readers eagerly anticipating the next chapter in the detective's gripping adventures.

This series can be read as a standalone or out of order, like I am doing and it works. I am however starting to get really invested in the characters and their back stories so I am now going back to reading the books that I havent read.
I especially like this one as it was more of a locked room story and I got really intrigued and wanted to know how it would end - loved the ending.

I was given an advance copy by netgalley and bookoutre but the review is entirely my own.

Every time I go to read the newest Josie Quinn I wonder if Lisa Regan will be able to wow me again. Well, Lisa Regan has done it again with her 19th Josie Quinn book. Regan went with a real change of pace with this "locked door mystery" and it really worked for me. This book is set at a mountain resort. Josie is there along with a therapist and 5 other people who are there to work on their trauma and PTSD. The group unexpectedly get snowed in and people start getting killed.
This story is filled with twists and turns and second guesses as to who is lying and who is telling the truth.
I love this series and #19 is a great addition!

Loved!!! I think this might be my favorite one yet. Completely different than any of the other Josie Quinn books. Great seeing Josie out of her comfort zone - both physically and emotionally. Looking forward to #20.

Thank you #netgalley and #bookouture for the eARC.

Lisa Regan does it again! Another outstanding addition to the Josie Quinn Series!!! Working through her grief surrounding the loss of her co-worker, Mett, Josie attends a mental health retreat on the summit of a mountain. She's joined by others experience grief and trying to navigate their way through it. It's led by a therapist, Sandrine. Josie and the others are participating in both group and individual sessions - and other guests are giving Josie the feeling that they might not be who they say they are. Amongst all of this, a blizzard hits and the group is stranded with little food and only a generator for electricity. And then... one of the guests is found dead. Josie goes into police mode working with no cell service, little electricity - only her training and smarts will help her solve this murder. One of the best series around - I look so forward to each and every book!! Thank you to Bookouture for an advanced reader of this book. The opinions expressed are my own.

Great job by Regan while taking her series outside of a typical setting - I am not always into that but I think it worked here and serves as a good clear the air bridge for the transition of the Denton PD core team.

Thanks to Netgalley and Boukouture for the free copy in exchange for an honest review - since this series is a favorite, I also pre-ordered a copy!

Face Her Fear is one of my favourite Josie Quinn books and I have read all nineteen of them. I saw a different side to Josie in this story. She appears more vulnerable and unsure of herself than in the previous books.
Josie finds herself in a dangerous situation when she attends a retreat to help her deal with her past trauma. The people who are also present aren’t who they seem. Josie has to keep her wits about her.
I loved the way Josie could imagine what Mett would do. Noah was also in trouble which added to Josies problems.
Face Her Fear was a very good addition to the Detective Josie Quinn series, I would definitely recommend it.
Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read and share this book. A big thank you to Lisa Regan for the amazing Josie Quinn stories, long may they continue.

I've probably said it a million times but, Lisa Regan does it again with another brilliant book in the Josie Quinn series. With so many twists and turns while Josie tries to peice together what is happening while she's in her own retreat to get help for herself. You believe you know what's going on to only be a bit blind sided at the end. Do yourself a favor and read this one!
Thank you Netgalley for the chance to review this book in return of my honest review.

WOW!

Book 19 and Lisa is shaking things up, away from Denton and the team chasing down the bad guys, Josie is at a week-long retreat in a remote, difficult to find location, light on amenities and connection to the outside world to help work through all of the trauma she has suffered, but exactly how much additional trauma will each person who survives the retreat be left to deal with.

You will be on the edge of your seat wondering what connects those at the retreat, who is a murderer and what triggered them to kill.

Add to that some shock news for Josie and Noah, as always, theirs is a love story that warms your heart and this book is no different, all the warm and fuzzies going on.
