This was a good story. Anna and Wendy's father had died last year and they were still grieving. In looking through his things they find a rare coin, which brings Owen to see Anna. He says they belongs to his Aunt and were stolen along with a large ruby necklace. Anna says her father had nothing to do with it and then is shocked to find out he had a criminal record when he was young. He had given it up when her mother had died to bring his two girls up honestly. Anna and Owen agree to work together to find the truth. The funny part of the story is Wendy - who is on bedrest with triplets and wants to be in on the hunt for the truth. Anna either wears a go-pro that Wendy bought for her or she listAnna ens when Anna has her phone on. She keeps commenting and cracking Anna and Owen up. The mystery gets solved in a dramatic way and the epilogue is precious. Wendy's 3 year old twins are a crack up, which is not surprising

4.5 stars. This was an enjoyable book. Anna found a coin that lead her on an investigation of whether her father stole it from Owen’s great aunt. Anna and Owen are not looking for a relationship but as they investigate, they grow closer. I also enjoyed the interactions of Anna and her sister Wendy. This is a great story with minimal steam.

Thank you so much to NetGalley for this ARC! This is a sweet story about two sisters, a mysterious treasure, a controversial past, pending birth of triplets . . and the journey unfolds. I loved the humor between the main characters and they are likable people. Throughout the book the pregnant sister is bored, on bedrest, hungry all the time and the silly names she gives the babies while waiting their pending births is hilarious. The mystery is eventually solved and it's quite suspenseful. I thought the author did a great job wrapping this into a little over 300 pages.

Jill Shalvis hits it out of the park again with “The Summer Escape.” This book draws you in and makes you want to keep reading.
In this book we are back Tahoe. Anna is going through the motions of the day with work and her family. When her sister finds an heirloom from their father, she sets off a series of events that they didn’t see coming. Anna is thrown into working with Owen who is also impacted by the heirloom. As they work together sparks start to fly between the two. With a time frame looming will they solve the mystery of the heirloom and will they be true to what they want.
This is a great summer read and I would highly recommend.

I really wanted to like this book. I have read this author before and enjoyed her work. Plus there's a dog on the cover of this book. What's not to like?
For me the best part of this book was Wendy and her being on bedrest and trying out names for the babies. Other than that I found this book to be boring. I didn't feel like there was chemistry between Anna and Owen.
This book just wasn't a book for me..

This book is a delightful blend of humor, romance, and mystery, making it a perfect summer read. Anna and Owen's dynamic is engaging, and their journey to uncover the truth behind the stolen treasure is both entertaining and heartwarming. With Shalvis' trademark wit and endearing characters, this story keeps you hooked from start to finish. Despite some pacing issues and moments of forced chemistry, the overall charm of the book shines through, leaving you with a satisfying and enjoyable read. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC!

Anna is a Private Investigator who finds an old coin in her late fathers possessions. She takes the coin to be appraised when she finds out the coin is worth 10K and likely apart of a set. The small town catches word of this and suspects the worst because Annas father has a record for petty theft in his past. Owen, an adrenaline junkee with an adventure tour guide business, hears about the coin, and he thinks that is the same coin that was stolen from his great aunts home, along with a very rare Ruby necklace. Owen thinks her father stole the coin along with the necklace. Anna uses her PI skills to try to clear her fathers name and Owen tags along with her to seek out the truth as well.
I loved almost every single second of this incredibly funny and cute closed door romance book. I think Anna is relatable because she's been hurt so many times in her past, it's easy to close your heart to everyone in order to protect yourself. She's a rule follower because in her own words "rules keep you safe" and I relate to that. Such a fun and enjoyable read. Part of a series but you dont need to read any of them to understand this one, can just jump right in and enjoy!

Chock-full of Shalvis' signature wit, emotional turmoil and endearing characters! Sunrise Cove is one of my very favorite places to visit time and time again. The characters in this series don't overlap as some do, but the setting of a small town in Tahoe is always good for a relaxing setting as humor and romance warm my heart. Anna and Owen are both really easy to like and sympathize with even though they start out on conflicting sides and as their attraction grows and secrets unravel, their connection only continues to shine as we follow along on their journey. I loved every minute of them, her crazy sister and the drama they run into on their way to forever.
I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone that enjoys rom com at it's best with addictive characters, chuckles throughout and so much heart to sink your teeth into!

I have never laughed so much as I have reading this book. I may even peed a little a couple of times. Ok TMI. This book has it all. Good mystery story. Wonderful characters, and a budding romance. Jill Shalvis you have outdone yourself.

This was my second Jill Shalvis book and I think I’m now officially a fan. I love the endearing characters that she develops, the perfect little fur babies that she includes, and the zany supporting characters that make you laugh out loud.
Anna and Owen are really easy to root for, and both bad at being in relationships. Wendy, Anna’s older sister, is pregnant with triplets - Snap, Crackle, and Pop- and is due any minute. And then on top of all that, there’s a multi family mystery of missing treasure, that pulls everyone together. This was a really enjoyable, fast read and should be on your summer TBR.

I first want to thank NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I thought I had been looking forward to reading this... but it was honestly an eyeroll from the beginning. They kept saying that there was "undeniable chemistry" but was the chemistry even in the room with us? By the end, the couple was cute but it was still cringe and felt forced. The best part was the rounds of trying to declare names for Wendy's triplets. I feel like we lost the plot of finding the necklace for the middle 40% of the book.. and then it was like oh right! And the answer is right here! Let's go on this wild adventure and admit our true feelings and almost die and then live happily ever after!
I wish I could have liked this more. Every time I picked it up to read I didn't want to. By the time I got like 50% in I wanted to DNF so badly but wanted to stick it out. I'm glad I did, the ending wasn't Horrible I just was wildly disappointed in this book.

I loved this book. It was a nice light read. It was funny, had romance, and a little who done it thrown in. Jill Shalvis always comes through with a good book.

I can always count on Jill Shalvis to deliver a fun romance. The Summer Escape delivered just that. Anna and Owen meet up because Owen hires her to find some valuable coins and a necklace that were stolen from his great-aunt. But add to that, Owen suspects it might be Anna's father who was responsible. Anna wants to defend her father, so she agrees to the job. And of course, like any good romance, feelings develop as they investigate.
While I enjoyed the romance between Anna and Owen, this book also had a strong story of family, especially the bond between sisters Anna and Wendy. Wendy's pregnant with triplets and primarily on bed rest, and I laughed every time they brought up possible names for the babies. Wendy often came along on the investigation via listening in on headphones and she created a "murder" board to help track what they learned.
If you are looking for a fun read that not only includes romance but also a little adventure, a few tense moments, and some witty dialogue between the characters, then this book is for you.
Thank you to Avon for the opportunity to read and review.

This book was good but had a lot of loose threads that I wish were pursued. The romantic suspense trope is one of my favorites and I would have liked to see that angle pursued a but more. I found the heroines sister to be super annoying and wanted her to change because she realized she was wrong and not just because she now had 3 kids to worry about. The book was a pleasant enough read but I found myself wanting more.

This book has lots of characters that I can remember about who is who. Anna and Wendy are sisters and Wendy is pregnant with triplets. She is also on bed rest. Owen has asked Anna (a private investigator) to find his great-aunt's ruby necklace. and coin collection. He thinks Anna's dad committed the robbery and wants her to find the necklace and a set of coins. Since Anna found one coin in her Dad's belongings, he believes Anna knows where the rest are.
Between Wendy's pending delivery, the attraction between Anna and Owen and trying to find the necklace and coin set, the author has written a story of romance and mystery that was hard to put down.

The Summer Escape is story based around the lives of two sisters, who go on a journey of self love discover and a little mystery left behind by their late father. It has love, frienship, loyalty and much more to keep you entertained with laughs and cries. This is a great summer read that makes you want to book a summer trip on Lake Tahoe.

This was a great story about family, loss, secrets, and finding love. Lots of fun moments to go with a decades old mystery. Loved all the characters and their banter, and enjoyed the development of the mystery of not only the stolen jewels and coins, but of Wendy and Anna's dad.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

You know there are authors who should be enjoyed in private. Not those with extraordinary, detailed bed activities. Those that make you laugh aloud, and not necessarily a cute, muted giggle, but a loud guffaw. And let’s not lose sight of those masterfully written moments when you actually become part of a wondrous moment. Sharing tears with this marvelous group of characters. That is what reading Jill Shalvis provokes. Her character creations and dialogs are second to none. I often shake my head wondering just how she thought of a situation, a bit of angst, a marvelously designed relationship. Well you get the picture. Jill Shalvis is like a fine wine with a bit of laughter added just for the heck of it. She is to be savored and enjoyed. Candidly read with the understanding that you just may attract some attention when you can’t hold in that laugh.
So in THE SUMMER ESCAPE we have some folks that will melt your heart, make you smile and hope for the elusive happy ending. Anna is a private investigator who gets the goods on folks that are cheating on their partners. Her older sister Wendy is presently on bed rest awaiting the birth of her triplets, loved, and taken care of by her sister and devoted husband Hayden. And then there is Owen who has planted himself by Anna’s side to officially marshal while she looks into his Aunt Ruby’s stolen property.
For all practical purposes Anna and Owen are polar opposites. Lots of heartbreak on each side so trust is a major challenge. There’s also the possibility that the person responsible for the missing property is Anna and Wendy’s now deceased father. Gets complicated. But the more essential element is that these two get each other.
Add to the who dun it aspect is a delicious look into the sister relationship. Here’s where the loud laughs come into play. Imagine having your very pregnant sister in your ear and hearing what you are saying and listening to the other person as well. And needless to say, not heeding the warning to be quiet. The situations just get quirkier. Dialog gets outlandish. And the comedy level increases exponentially with every scene. Owen begins to acclimate himself to the fact that being with Anna means having a three-way conversation with Wendy ever present in her ear. It is just plain hysterical. Trust me on that.
Be prepared to just fall in love with all of them. You just can’t help it. When the group talk about the impending triplets they randomly assign them names. All part of the joyous repartee between the two sisters and the men in their lives.
If you are looking for an entertaining read look no further than THE SUMMER ESCAPE by Jill Shalvis. Then be prepared to put this talented author on the top of your must-read list. She tops my list.

Anna Moore, a local private investigator, has her sister as her only family, who is currently expecting triplets. Anna divides her time between assisting her sister and managing her PI business. Owen Harris approaches her for help in locating his great aunt's missing necklace and coin collection. After Anna had one of the coins appraised, Owen suspects her deceased father of the theft. Despite Owen's attractiveness, Anna remains uninterested due to his penchant for thrill-seeking.
As they collaborate to recover the necklace and coins, Anna is convinced of her father's innocence, while Owen believes he committed the theft. Their time together ignites a spark between them. Meanwhile, Anna's sister Wendy, certain of their father's innocence, monitors the investigation by equipping Anna with a GoPro and staying in constant phone contact.
The story unfolds with a delightful blend of love and humor, showcasing the growing chemistry between Anna and Owen.

I’m a big fan of Jill Shalvis, and once again she made me laugh, swoon, and cry all in one fell swoop! I love these characters and this story so much! I love when the lead characters are not perfect and have doubts about their ability to love and be in a relationship. Owen and Anna are two wonderful characters who you would not think would ever fit together but they are great together. The story was interesting as they are set on the same path because Wendy, Anna’s sister wants to clear their Dad’s name but she is 7 months pregnant with triplets and is on bed rest so she asks Anna to do it. But she still wants to be involved and it is very funny how they do that. The hunt is on for info leading to what happen to what happens to be Owen’s Aunt Ruby’s treasure.
Anna’s sister Wendy is a hoot! All the names they were trying out for the babies made me chuckle. Her hubby Hayden is awesome too! This was just a very entertaining read with a lovely happy ending!
