The Summer Escape by Jill Shalvis had me laughing from the start. It is a great story with mystery, romance and humor! I wish I had kept track of all the different names for the triplets lol. I read this book in just over a day...I could not put it down. I definitely recommend this book!

Thank you NetGalley, Avon and Harper Voyager for the early read.

This is a fun, quick romance read with a little mystery thrown in. In ususal Shalvis fashion, it had me laughing with the witty, sassy and sarcastic quips. I loved the relationship of the sisters, Anna and Wendy. I don't know if it was necessary to have a POV from Wendy though; to me it took away from Anna and Owen. And while, yes I sensed the chemistry between Anna and Owen from the get go, it just happened way too fast. I felt like I had missed some pivotal moments that led up to them starting up. I did end up really liking them as a couple and the mystery was intriguing.

Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for the advanced readers copy of this book. I voluntary read and reviewed it.

When Anna Moore, a private investigator, finds a rare coin in her late father’s belongings and has it appraised, it sets into motion a quest for Anna to prove her father’s innocence of stealing not just that one coin, but a set of coins and a valuable necklace. Owen Harris is convinced Anna’s father was the thief and that Anna herself might possibly be involved in a coverup of the crime. The more he gets to know her, though, the more he believes in her honesty and integrity and joins her in her quest to prove her father was innocent.

I loved the humor throughout the story, the antics of Anna’s pregnant sister, Wendy, the attraction between Anna and Owen, Owen’s great-aunt, and the fun storyline.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was a cute quick romance. With a little mystery to solve thrown in the mix.

Anna finally decides to open the box of belongings left of her dad. She finds a mysterious gold coin, on the insistence of her big sister she takes the coin to a dealer to have it appraised. She has no idea of the history or the way this simple coin would turn her life upside down. The next day Owen shows up at her office demanding the coin back and claiming that Anna’s father stole it alone with the entire collection and a ruby necklace from his Aunt Ruby. They make a deal to investigate the theft together, and once the case is solved they never have to see each other again. Easy right, what could go wrong??

Anna holds herself back because she does not think people get attached to her. Owen is a leaver. Once the mutual attraction becomes known they agree to see where it goes until the case is solved and then they will part ways. Since it will never work out.

As they work together their feelings grow and they neither of them want the case to be over. This is a cute romance.

The story is told from the pint of view of Anna, Owen, and Anna’s sister Wendy. I love a duel point of view book but I could have done without Wendy’s point of view. This would have been a 5 star review if not for Wendy. I did not like her at all. I thought she was selfish and self centered. I also applaud the author for writing a character that gives me such strong feelings. Texting your sister “911” when you are pregnant with triplets because you want French fries is a little much for me. Wendy’s husband Holden is a saint. He was the only redeemable part of Wendy. I felt sorry that he was married to her.

Over all I thought this was a very good book. Anytime an author can make me hate one character while I love all the others I am amazed. I have read several of her books and this will not be my last.

SO. GOOD. Classic Jill + treasure hunting mystery = clear your schedule because you have a book to read.

Three POVs
Forced proximity
Enemies to lovers
Mystery/adventure
Turbo the cutest and funniest fluffball
Sister relationships
Slow burn

Aside from the information in the blurb, I don’t want to give anything else away because this book is heartwarming and fun!

This story is a book I'd reread just to enjoy the humor in it. Anna is trying to entertain her sister Wendy, who is on bed rest pregnant with triplets. She stumbles across a coin that Wendy insists she find more about it. Her discovery leads to Owen tracking her down and accusing her dad of stealing it and more from his great-aunt. Each is positive the other is wrong and are set on proving it. Let the hilarity ensue especially when Wendy insists on being in on the action via bluetooth. As they work on solving the mystery, they find out more about themselves, the meaning of family, and what is truly important in life. Mystery, romance and humor along with a great cast of characters make this a book to read this summer.

The Summer Escape ended up not being my favorite Shalvis novel, though I'm struggling to pinpoint exactly why. I think part of it for me is that there was a crossover into "mystery" - which is my other favorite genre, but I don't usually mix. So where normally the challenge would be a challenge that needs work and teamwork, the mystery detective part wasn't completely my jam. I did end up enjoying it, make no mistake, but it wasn't my favorite.

I received an ARC of this book from netgalley. It has both romance and adventure. Anna and Owen are on opposing sides of finding out what happened to Owen's aunts necklace. He thinks Anna's dad stole it. Even though they are on opposite sides of the mystery, they have a hard time fighting their feelings for each other. Will they be able to have their happily ever after when they solve the mystery of the missing necklace?

This is the Jill Shalvis know and love! This book had me laughing and maybe even tearing up a timer or two :-) The main characters had great sizzle, but the absolute show stealer was the dialogue between the sisters. It truly had me laughing out loud. I love that Shalvis took us on a crazy ride to solve the mystery all the while building the relationship between Anna and Owen. This is a perfect beach book for this summer! Enjoy!

This was a nice beach read installment from Jill Shalvis. The characters were all quirky and fun and had a few lol moments. The story also contained what I would call a light mystery that the 2 main characters set out to solve and a little suspense. The relationship between the 2 sisters was both realistic and aspirational and really made the book worth reading. Thank you NetGalley for an advanced copy!

The Summer Escape is another winner for Jill Shalvis! She never disappoints when you pick up one of her books. The characters are well-developed and the humor in the book will have you laughing out loud. There is a bit of a mystery in the story all tied in with family, friends, love, and of course a great dog.

Jill Shalvis is AMAZING! This book made me laugh out loud so hard I snorted. My husband was pretty sure I had finally lost my mind. She writes the most relatable characters. In this book we also have a bit of mystery to go with our romance. We also have amazing sibling relationships, and endearing pets. Thank you to Net Galley, the publisher and certainly Ms. Shalvis for the opportunity to provide an unbiased review for an incredibly entertaining story.

Anna Moore has a demanding PI job, a bossy, pregnant with triplets sister Wendy, and a new client who gets her pulse racing. The problem is that her new client, Owen Harris, is looking for some items stolen from his great aunt Ruby, who suffers from dementia, and his suspect hits a little close to home for Anna & Wendy. Working together to solve the mystery of the stolen treasures, Anna & Owen have trouble ignoring their chemistry while getting to know one another and chasing down clues. Author Jill Shalvis serves up her usual witty dialogue in this fun story set in the fictional town of Sunrise Cove, California on Lake Tahoe.

I love reading Jill’s books, and I thank NetGalley for the chance to read an advance copy of the book in exchange for my honest review. This was a very entertaining read for me! Thanks.

I had fun getting into the mindsets of Anna and Owen who started out on opposite sides of the proverbial fence in a quest to prove each other wrong about a stolen necklace, but ended up finding a way to knock down that very fence, solve the problem and then concentrate on their growing mutual attraction.

It’s funny how love changes things for even the seemingly most opposite characters!

Super cute, light summer read. It is about the relationship of two sisters and the adventures they go on while trying to prove their dad’s innocence. Of course during the process one of the sisters meets a boy.

I enjoyed the Lake Tahoe setting and the mystery component of the book added a nice change to your typically romcom storyline.

Loved it. I laughed. I cried. An entertaining romantic mystery. Enjoyable conflict. There are even cats and a dog to add some fun. It has it all, including the birth of triplets. Yikes! Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary. Terrific series.

Haven’t laughed so hard in a while. Owen and Anna were hilarious and so great together. However, Wendy and Anna were too much. Such awesome sisters with the most brutally honesty banter. I loss my sister recently and although we were not remotely like these two, it brought a warmth to my heart. Jill has brought yet another beautifully written story with love, loss, romance, a little mystery, but most of all the warm, mushy feelings we all love.❤️❤️

The Summer Escape is a sweet story of sisters who have each other’s back in everything… sometimes too much! As some news of their dad comes to light, Anna is forced to dig into his past and reconcile herself with whatever she finds. In doing so, she ends up working with Owen who has his own reasons for wanting truth and justice. Their lives intertwine in a typical fashion of Jill Shalvis!
