This was a super cute and fun read! Very easy to binge quickly. I did find myself loosing interest throughout, but overall really cute story.
Honestly, I really loved this book.
Was some of it predictable? For sure.
Was some of the drama a little over the top? Definitely
Did I enjoy the ride? YES.
Sometimes you need a little cotton candy second chance love story to read in between serious titles and "If We Were Perfect" fits the bill. I loved that Sammy and Olivia's drama was more about being the "wrong time" than the "wrong person". I also really loved how when they got mad, they TALKED IT OUT LIKE ADULTS rather than storming off in a huff and creating a miscommunication drama. Everything about these two just felt so honest and real and believable. I truly can see both of them in my own friends, which is exactly what I wanted in this story. Loved these two and loved this story.
I haven't read anything from this author even though she is pretty popular. I loved the writing for this book and will definitely be picking more up from this author.
If We Were Perfect is the final book in the If Love series by Ana Huang. I always wondered about Sammy’s and Olivia’s relationship. The book did not disappoint.
I’m always a fan of Ana Huang, and I’m so happy that this series has been picked up for traditional publishing! If We Were Perfect is actually the first book in this series that I’ve read, and after this I’m excited to go back and read the rest!
I think this book did a really great job of being a romance novel while also commenting on complicated family and workplace dynamics. Both Sammy and Olivia have to navigate complex issues within their own families, while at the same time Sammy is managing a business that is growing beyond what he can handle himself, and Olivia is trying to make a name for herself in an industry that is run by the good old boys club. And in all of that, we still get a really beautiful second chance romance where the characters grow back together and ultimately find a beautiful kind of love that’s far better than the first time around.
And let’s not forget, when it comes to spice, Ana always delivers. It certainly wasn’t the spiciest of her books in terms of book/spice ratio, but what we did get was top tier and so much fun to read!

If We Were Perfect is the fourth and final book in the If Love series. This was the first book I've read from this series. I had no issues following along so it can be read as a standalone book. The characters from previous books are mentioned, but they aren't as intertwined into the story as they are in the Twisted series.
This story follows Sammy and Olivia. They were once lovers, but broke up several years prior. Olivia needs a place to stay and Sammy, being the kind gentleman he is, offers to provide her a place to stay in his house. It becomes evident that the chemistry is still there and forces Sammy and Olivia to work out why they split and if they can begin again. Both characters go through some character development and growth. There's quite a bit of miscommunication in this story, which is my leave favorite trope.
Overall, this was a cute read. It did start out a little strange and a bit dry, but the story picks up as it goes. It could get better if it was dual perspective, but I don't hate the third person narrative. I probably won't reread this book, but I might suggest it to a friend looking for a cute, quick read with minimal spice.
Thank you NetGalley and Bloom Books for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
Ana huang can do no wrong! Loved this book!! I just wish it was dual POV. Can’t wait to read more of her books.

Where to start. I enjoyed the concept. The baker boy and the girl caring more for her job. The character development in this book was great! The story great except for the third act conflict. The writing killed me. It's in 3rd person which I am fine reading however, it was just so overwhelming in this book. It felt so juvenile, so YA. I felt like I was reading a middle school written book but then the spice was adult. I did just finish twisted love and the writing was good and felt right with the book. So I'm not sure if it was just the third person in this one or what. I don't think I will be reading the other books in this series but I will continue with Ana's Twisted series and try out the King of Sins series.
I liked the books story but I had a hard time reading it since it was in third person. I would have preferred it being a duo POV instead.
This whole series was so much fun!
My favorite was definitely Kris’ book, but I enjoyed them all. I would definitely recommend reading them in timeline order (book #1, #3, #2, #4), but I read them in release order and still enjoyed it!
This was a fun second-chance romance, and a great conclusion to the series. There was a lot of constant miscommunication which was a little frustrating, but the way they defensively end up withdrawing rings more true then most miscommunications, where it feels more manufactured - I definitely know some people who communicate like this.
Any Ana Huang fans will enjoy this series - definitely recommend picking it up!
I also posted on amazon just waiting for the review to be approved but here is my review for you to see
I loved this book. I did end up reading them out of order. I haven't read Kris book yet, but I will get there. Sam and Olivia they were so stubborn thinking they were doing what best for each other they truly did just need to sit down and talk things thru. You go from seeing their love in the first book, turn into despise in the second. You finally get to see everything unfold in this one. Sam was so considerate and helped Olivia when she needed it. I would say this book was my favorite book of the series so far. I received the book for free from netgalley for my honest opinion.

~ Exes Second Chance Romance
~ Unplanned Life-Detour
~ Overbearing Parents
Summary: Olivia is a Type A overachiever who plans out everything in her life and is adamant that she will get the VP spot at her job. But things take a detour when her apartment floods and the only person she knows in town is her ex-boyfriend who she hasn’t been around in almost a decade. Will give into her previously steamy romance with Sammy Yu or will she follow her 5 year plan?
What I Loved: I became instantly obsessed with the characters of this book and all of the things that are going wrong in Olivia’s life. This story was pretty steamy and had a lot of references to the previous 3 books and I am not afraid to say that this was the first one I read (in the series and by Ana Huang). Not only that, but this book has me so hooked that I am ready to read all of her books, immediately. The ending of this book was not what I expected but I loved every moment of it. If you love romance, especially the second chances trope, read it. Overall, I enjoyed reading this book, and I was impressed by the fact that Ana made such a great go-getter of a female main character who chases her dreams without stopping.
Other Notes: I gave it a 3 chili spice rating because while there were spicy moments, the story was not dependent on the spice and had more of an impending doom plot with lots of mischief involved in both Sammy and Olivia’s lives separately.
Special thanks to the Publisher and the Author for providing a complimentary digital Electronic Advanced Reader Copy (E-ARC) of this novel via NetGalley. This is my fair, honest, and personal review. All opinions are mine alone and were not biased in any way.
As always, loved this book by Ana Huang!
We finally get Sammy and Olivia's history and see what they've been through. Their story was frustrating and heartbreaking at times, but also sweet. I loved seeing Liv's character development and how much she learned to stand on her own two feet.
Loved this second chance romance!
“Why did the t always have to be this hard? What did they do in their past lives that they had to keep going through this cycle? Love, heartbreak, rinse and repeat. When did it end?”
Sammy and Olivia struggle to let go over their past. Throwing them into a roller coaster of a relationship with ups and downs. When will their relationship get better.
Second chance romance ✔️
Roommates ✔️
Heartbreak ✔️
Mild spice✔️
I really enjoy this author because
explored family relationship between both characters which leads them to a lot of issues. They learn that they must love each other unconditionally
Olivia deals with workplace harassment which a lot of women face today. Which indicates that the author is aware of what women face.
Sammy deals with social media harassment and overcomes it be trying to not let it get to him. Social media bulling and harassment has been and always will be a struggle with many.
This shows that the author is aware of issues that the world faces. Allowing us to acknowledge that these things happen even though we may not be aware of them.
Enjoyable. These two get a second chance at figuring out how to move passed the past and hope the timing is better than last time. Though both of these characters have grown as people since their first relationship. And now they’ll fight for their new happily ever after. Sometimes that means cutting out toxic people.
Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced readers copy of this book.
I went into this book as a standalone since I have not read the other books and I must say I enjoyed it for the most part. I am not a huge fan of second-chance romances, but I do not think that should stop anyone else from trying this book. It had all the feels and a strong female lead which I LOVE.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the arc of this book. If We Were Perfect is book 4 in the If Love series. This book follows Sammy and Olivia. Throughout this series, we knew they broke up in New York but never knew why this adorable couple called it quits. This book has Sammy and Olivia reconnecting years later. This is probably my favorite book in the series. This book has minimal spice but the amazing story keeps you so interested, I hardly noticed. Ana Huang wrote another amazing book and series, this author never disappoints. I cannot wait to see what is released next.
If We Were Perfect hit all of the right chords for me, it's a second chance romance & forced proximity, who wouldn't want this amazing combo? We follow Olivia and Sammy who were once the perfect couple, but then things took for a turn with their relationship. We fast forward a few years and we find Olivia having to ask Sammy for his help and moves in with him.
Sammy can't say no to Olivia, but he's going to take this opportunity to make her regret their break up. There is pining, angst, and oh so much pettiness. We know not all things go according to plan, so we find Sammy's revenge plot bite him in the butt, but it opens up new feelings and understanding between the two that were truly perfect. Olivia also grows from her struggles and the decisions she has to make to be able to protect herself and they are not easy decisions.
This is a beautiful story with romance and growth and one that I will not stop talking about to others for a long time coming. Thank you Bloom Books for the ARC!
If we were perfect is the last book in the If Love Series! In this story we fallow Sammy and Olivia who have complicated history. Mix in a shared friend group, meddling family members, and careers at stake! Theses two have a lot on their plate. You can feel the love theses two characters have for each other! The story has love, drama, and romcom feels! You don’t want to miss this book!

If We Were Perfect is the fourth installment in the “If Love” series. This was a perfect heart-warming second chance romance. The story follows Farrah and Jace, two exes that are back together after an unfortunate situation. Absolutely loved this book!
