This series has my entire heart.
Joey and Aoife are seriously some of my favorites. Their storyline is so gut wrenching but beautiful.
All these characters deserve the world. I was full on crying at some points, and I cannot explain why.
“I could go a fair bit crazy over you, Molloy.” His lips brushed against my brow as he said, “Stay out of my head now, ya hear?”
I LOVE THEM!!! They had the most soul mate meet cute you could imagine. The banter was everything, but the ending is what got me. Joey deserves the entire world and I am so glad that Aoife is apart of that world.
CW: abuse (on page), drug use (on page), neglect, addiction
Reading Joey's story was such an honest and heartbreaking look at the chains of abuse and addiction and generational trauma. Don't get me wrong, it is HEAVY. very heavy and difficult to read, but also very eye-opening. Walsh writes with a brutal honesty and doesn't gloss over the harshness of addiction or the horrific impact of abuse and child neglect. I feel she did an amazing job at identifying not only the physical impact but the emotional toll these traumas have on an individual and those who love them.
Joey is struggling to survive. Literally. He has every odd stacked against him, but Aoife Molloy is his light in the darkness. He tries his best to protect her from his life while she continually infiltrates herself into every nook and cranny. He's never had anyone to depend on. She's not use to giving up. It's a story of young love - but the kind that lasts forever.
Thank you to NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books, Bloom Books for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Joey and Aoife are a perfect match and hold a special place in my heart. This book, my favorite of the year, exceeded my expectations with its slow burn romance. The character development of Joey and Aoife, both individually and as a couple, is truly impressive. Joey's love for his siblings and Sean's endearing nickname for him tugged at my heartstrings. However, reading about Shannon's abuse and bullying for the second time was difficult. Joey's resemblance to Loren Hale from another series was interesting, highlighting their similarities. Aoife's unwavering support for Joey is admirable, and their love for each other is undeniable. I want nothing more than to see them happy, though they still have obstacles to overcome. Joey's endearing nickname for Aoife, "Molloy," holds a special place in my heart. These characters evoked a range of emotions, making me laugh, cry, and smile simultaneously. I love the Boys of Tommen series, ranking it just below the Addicted/Calloway Sisters series. The found family dynamic is incredible.
I’m back in the Boys of Tommen world and I loved being here. 🥹 I’ve been waiting to start on this book but finally thought it was time to read about Joey and Aoife. 💗
✨ “You’re my favorite friend, with my favorite legs.”
“Well now, see, that wasn’t so hard, was it?” “And just so you know, Joe…” “You’re my favorite friend, with my favorite everything.”✨
This book starts off when Joey and Aoife are 12 years old and follows along their journey of becoming best friends to more. I absolutely loved all their banter throughout the book. They made me laugh but then the older they got, feelings started happening and that’s when I started to cry. This book just hit so hard and I wanna cry so much for Joey and Aoife. 😭🥺
They were toxic and oh so messy but also so what each other needed. Aoife fought so hard for Joey and knew he needed someone in his corner. She was the sweetest and funniest girl. 🥹
✨Nothing else mattered to me. All I could see, feel, taste, touch was him. He was everywhere. Consuming me entirely.✨
We see Joey dealing with a rough home life and having to be a mother and a father to his siblings and every scene just hurts more and more. He struggles so hard and the addiction he has doesn’t help at all. It hurt my heart so much. 😭😭 My poor Joey. 🥺
✨“I see you, Joey Lynch,” she continued, stroking her nose against mine.
“Yeah,” I replied in a gruff tone. “I see you too, Molloy.”
“No.” Shaking her head, she shifted closer, pressing her body flush against mine. “I mean that I see you.”✨
I’m off to go read the next book in the series. 🥹 I need to see these two have their happy ending. 💔
"oh, i've been sold on you for a long time now, joey lynch."
ok my heart is now broken??? i thought i was prepared after the damage i went through with the 13 books but this had me ugly crying on multiple occasions. joey is such a beautifully written character and i wholeheartedly hurt for him. having that kind of pressure at such a young age and dealing with addiction. aoife was such a character as well and i loved her! her confidence from the beginning and how much she stuck up for joey? love it. i am genuinely not ready for redeeming 6
Aoife Molloy and Joey Lynch
I was so excited when I found out Joey was going to be one of the boys of Tommen! I loved to see glimpses of Aoife and Joey’s relationship in Binding 13 and Keeping 13 from Shannon’s point of view. I know Joey’s had a difficult life growing up which made me so nervous to start this book. However, Chloe Walsh writes such loveable characters I just can’t help but root for them. They had me in a chokehold from the start with their first meeting at school. Joey has enough trauma for a lifetime (and then some) I just wish this boy gets a HEA because he deserves it. He is genuinely one of the best big brothers out there.
Being able to connect Joey and Aoife’s storyline following up to B13 and K13 was so satisfying to see everything behind the scenes of their relationship that readers don’t get to experience from Shannon’s view of them. I didn’t expect to love Aoife even more than I already did from the previous books but she really was the star of the book. She walked this man like a dog!!! Funny enough I actually got to read the chapter on Aoife’s birthday on the actual day, September 18th lol.
Now, I’m patiently waiting for the fire scene. iykyk.
I would like to thank the author, publisher, and Netgalley for this ARC.
Emotional and gripping. The book blew me away. I love Joey and his story. Walsh has a way of writing her characters that you fall in love with then and become them. This story was heartbreaking but captivating. The slow burn and the banter kept me hooked and left me wanting more! You have to read this book!
After reading Binding and Keeping 13, I knew I wanted to read Joey and Aoife’s story and absolutely loved it. But it was also heartbreaking. 💔
Seeing the side of Joey that you don’t get to see in the previous books makes you feel so much for him and why he is the way he is. Having to be the “dad” for his siblings starting at 12 years old is something no kid should ever have to do.
One of my favorite parts of this book was when Joey went to go meet his Great Grandpa and this conversation they had, “My Joseph. My brave, brave boy. Terrible burdens. A cursed cross to carry. But always rising from the ashes. Always getting back up. Always the…protector. Promise me that you’ll…never…give in to them.” “Give into who, Granda?” “The demons your father put in your head.” 😩
There are a lot of dark elements in this book that Joey has to deal with (like drug addiction, alcohol addiction, DA and SA) and it time jumps from when Joey starts school in 1999 to his last year of school in 2004.
Aoife ended up being his saving grace and I loved how she stuck by his side no matter what bad choices he made. They started off as friends in first year and the banter and angst between them was so good. I love that she teased him but also wasn’t afraid to get in his mess with him. I can’t wait to see how Redeeming 13 continues their story. 🩷
Thank you Net Galley for allowing me to receive an ARC in return for an honest review.
"I have been emotionally touched and overwhelmed (in the best way) by this book. It was amazing and a perfect continuation of Binding 13 and Keeping 13. Even though it is a separate story following a different couple. The love story of Joey and Aoife was captivating. I cannot find the words to express how much I enjoyed reading this book.
Joey is the second born of an abusive and broken marriage and when his older brother leaves everything falls on his shoulders. He struggles through his teenage years dealing with his sense of duty, self-loathing, and trying to walk the fine line of becoming an addict. Aoife is self assured and bubbly but she falls into a complicated friendship with Joey as he works as her father’s apprentice. He’s desperate to keep him out of her life but she wiggles her way into a very complicated situation.
JOEY 😭 This book is so funny and so sad all at the same time. Watching Joey raise his siblings melted a bit of my heart. The dang button conversation had me dying in laughter and I loved seeing them just have those tiny happy moments. I can see how he ended up down the road he ended up going down and I hope Aoife came help guide him in the right direction.
I liked this book. I really did... But it just dragged on and on.. This is a very long book of basically just dialog between the character. Which I don't really mind.. But it seemed to take a while to get to any point. Very slow moving.
Absolutely beautiful...grab them tissues. The third book in the series and Chloe Walsh does it again.

This book is the third in the Tommen Boys series. The first two books followed Johnny and Shannon, and now we follow Shannon’s older brother, Joey, and Aoife.
Chloe Walsh has a distinct ability to write a story that makes you feel such strong feelings toward the characters - either a strong love or a strong hate. We catch glimpses Joey in the first two books in the series, acting as the only dependent “parent” that his younger siblings can rely on, though he is kind of a jerk. Saving 6 backs up the story to when he’s 12, and we get to see what made him the way he is, and how Aoife fits into his life.
Aoife herself is a firecracker - sassy, popular, stands up for what she believes and is incredibly dependable. I thought the best thing about this book was their banter and their friendship in the earlier years.
I think the only part that I wasn’t a fan of was the fact that we’re seeing events that we already had to live through with Shannon, so it’s not a new plot really - it’s just from a different POV. It felt a bit like we weren’t moving forward.
I put this book off for a while, because I was anticipating it that much and just wasn’t ready for the emotions I knew it would bring. While this book didn’t end on a cliffhanger, I will be immediately starting Redeeming 6!
I read this book a few months ago. I originally rated it 3 stars but I have to admit that Joey and Aoife's story is one that has stuck with me so I had to increase it to 4 stars. Joey has a shit life, a shit family and struggles with addiction. The only thing that keeps him going is his boss' daughter, Aoife. He doesn't want her to get tangled in his terrible life but she won't let go. A story of friendship turned to first love, bad boy and good girl, boss' daughter and everything in between. This story will rip your heart out and Chloe Walsh has a way of making you feel like these characters are your friends, your family. The Boys of Tommen are a series of books that suck you right in and stay with you for a long time. I highly recommend!
The Boys of Tommen Series INSTANTLY captivated me from book 1! I binged BINDING13 and KEEPING 13 in less than a week because I HAD to know what happened with Johnny and Shannon. Going into SAVING 6 I didn't know quite what to expect with Joey's story seeing as the only thing I knew about him were the little glimpses given in BINDING and KEEPING. Really all I knew was that he struggled with addiction, was a victim of abuse, and loved his siblings fiercely. From the ending of KEEPING 13, the foreshadowing made it clear that Joey and Aofie's story would be an emotional one.
All I can say is WOW. Chloe Walsh is a phenomenal writer! Her attention to detail and ability to draw emotion with purely her words is truly a gift. I felt frustrated and heartbroken and could not stop crying during parts of this book. Joey is such a complex character, more so than we even saw in the first two books of the series. I wanted to reach into the book to give him a hug at so many points while reading. It was an extremely vulnerable story and one that will stay with me forever. Running to grab a copy of REDEEMING 6 immediately!!!
Thank you NetGalley and BLOOM for the ARC!
**immediately purchases Redeeming 6**
I knew this book was going to hurt and I can confirm that my heart is broken all over again 😭
The third book in the Boys of Tommen series takes place before the events in Binding 13 and it’s told from Joey + Aoife’s POV.
I loved getting more from Joey in this book. Saving 6 really gave us the opportunity to know Aoife on a more personal level while also giving depth to Joey. The author really makes these characters feel like real people, with real lives, and real feelings. I love all of the Lynch children and getting to see them interact throughout this book made me happy while simultaneously heartbroken because those kids lived through absolute hell. Overall, I think Saving 6 was a great addition to the series and I am more than ready to start book #4.
Wow… I knew Joey’s book would hurt to read but I didn’t think it would hurt this much. This book was amazing, devastating, soul crushing, and depressing. Joey always does so much for everyone else and forgets about himself, so I was so glad that Aoife came along to remind him that he is important too. At times this book and Joey’s addictions were frustrating but I feel like it was done perfectly because it showed what addiction was really like and helped the readers to truly understand and feel right alongside the characters. I am so glad that this book started at the beginning of their relationship and went back in time from the first two in the series because we really needed to see their whole relationship to get a real understanding of their story and without that the relationship and story would have felt incomplete. Aoife is such a strong and determined character and I am so glad that we were able to learn more about her through this book. The ending broke me but also gave me hope. This is one of those books and stories that I was constantly thinking about while in class, scrolling on my phone, or doing literally anything besides reading. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series but I already know it’s going to hurt. If you are looking for a book/series to make you feel something, this is the one you should read.
I am obsessed with Chloe Walsh's writing and this wonderful series! This is a Slow Burn Frienemies to Lovers book. This book will break you heart and make you feel every emotion imaginable. This book has som much depth with the characters and plot and you won't be able to put it down. I can't recommend this book or series enough! Grab a coffee, Kleenex and sit back and enjoy!
Thank you NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books, Bloom Books for allowing me to read this ARC for my honest opinion.
The one absolutely shattered me. I cried and cried, in the best way only a good book can do. I loved everything about it.
