These STEM board books are a great deal of fun. Are you going to fully understand the topic after reading them? Of course not. But you're getting a very basic understanding that you can build on later. Plus the simple illustration style will be appealing for even very small children.

This was okay. I thought it was an interesting concept but it just didn't work for me. I don't think teaching babies, toddlers and young children about AI is important.

Chris Ferrie's children's books bring complex scientific thoughts to a level young readers can understand. As AI is dominating the news, Artificial Intelligence for Babies is a perfect way to help your child or the children in your life understand what AI is, or at least have a bedtime story for the kids that adults will also enjoy.

My kids loved this book! It's super cute and wholesome and kept their attention the whole time during reading. I highly recommend this book and will purchase a physical copy.

In this barebones, board book, the author tries to explain AI in simplistic terms. This title follows others in the series and it is basic. It is once again a question of who this is for. It's too complex for babies, but doesn't explain a lot on AI so it's great for a little who keeps asking what AI is. Adults will have to add details on the issues. Overall as with other titles, it, leaves me scratching my head, but I know there are some fans of this title. Buy where others are popular or caregivers determine to get babies into Harvard.

Thank you Netgalley and sourcebooks kids for ARC in exchange of an honest review.

I saw the books in the series at a local bookstore and I was totally intrigued. This is an interactive way to teach kids about science things. But I think it will be better for kids after 4 years or up. My kid is 2.5 and it didn't keep her engaged as the pictures couldn't convey the message that was written. She mostly enjoys the pictures and colours and if there's a story through pictures she can understand it herself.

So I will recommend it to kids who can actually understand it and enjoy it too.

My child is one so, let’s be honest, this was for me. And I loved it. Of course the illustrations helped my kiddo enjoy it.

With Artificial Intelligence EVERYWHERE these days, it's hard to know where to start in the quest for understanding. At first glance, this may be a simple baby book. But look a little closer, and actually read the (very short) book, and you'll have yourself a terrific introduction to the concept of artificial intelligence, which is the first step in understanding artificial intelligence. The (mostly) black and white illustrations are eye-catching and perfectly support the text. While I'm not going to run out and buy copies for all of my friends, I will be adding a copy to my stack of teaching books, as this is a great book to introduce the concept to my kindergarten and first grade students. This will also be a great baby gift for families that have tech-y parents!

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC copy!

Artificial Intelligence for Babies by Chris Ferrie is better than most of the books in series like these that are clever in conveying topics adults struggle to understand, but should probably not be board books or for babies as the title suggests. Children struggle to identify shapes at this developmental stage. I have often seen them as board books and it has left me scratching my head. They are really not for toddlers. It would be great as a picture book and is actually simplistic enough to convey the topic. The illustrations are also well done.

While I do think that this book does a good job of explaining AI for children it just doesn't seem like an engaging book for kids. I think that these are things that we definitely need more books to help discuss these topics but I also think that there should be something more that will help to promote conversation and engagement.

Welp, it’s official. I am utterly certain that by the time I have children, I will have needed to save up quite a lot to make sure that they have a large collection of Chris Ferrie books. I’ve always deeply appreciated Ferrie’s work on creating understandable scientific content for kids, but I have to say that I was utterly blown away by what he’s done with Artificial Intelligence for Babies.

There is no question in my mind that I’ll be using the plethora of options Ferrie has put out for parents and educators in the world to help develop my child’s understanding. Additionally, I think it’s such a fantastic opportunity for my work in education as well and can’t wait to see about adding these to our shelves sometime soon!

Also, though this is really more of a personal thing, I was incredibly excited at the fact that the dog used to show intelligence in an animal was a Border Collie. I know that’s a fairly universally known thing regardless, but as a Border Collie mom, it made my very happy.

I love the simplicity of high concepts in this series. Considering computers and technology is all around our everyday lives, this book is very relevant. I would suggest it for ages 3 and up. These books are definitely helpful when your child asks you why and you need answers.

Thank you, Sourcebooks for this advanced reader's copy.

I really enjoyed how the author explained what artificial intelligence is in its most basic form without making it too complex. A great way to introduce the concept to toddlers.

I just got done reading the ABCs of Artificial Intelligence so I happily jumped right into this one too. I like that it started out with a ball like so many books in this series. The move to then have a dog was really fun for my daughter who loves animals. The jump to a computer felt really easy to understand and was fun to talk about. This is my favorite one of the series now!
