Having followed the series, I eagerly awaited the latest installment. The exotic setting and eclectic mix of characters added flair to the story.

While the premise held promise, the execution of the murder mystery felt lack-luster. The pacing was slow at times, and crucial details surrounding the deaths were sparse, leaving me craving more depth and insight into the victims and circumstances.

Despite its shortcomings, the novel picks up momentum towards the end, delivering a satisfying conclusion. However, the uneven pacing and lack of depth in character development leave me undecided about continuing with the series.

In conclusion, Murder at the Summit offers moments of intrigue but ultimately falls short of its potential.

Engaging Instalment..
The fifth outing in the Blake Sisters Travel Mystery series and the sleuthing duo find their search for inner peace taking a lethal turn. As they begin a weekend at the beautiful Summit retreat, murder is furthest from their minds but a body makes an unexpected appearance and soon the body count is going up along with the list of possible suspects. Another engaging instalment to this series with likeable protagonists, a deftly drawn cast and a well imagined setting.

Murder at the Summit is the fifth book in this series but the first book I've read. I found it hard to read as a stand-alone as there are so many characters and not much of a back story which made it difficult to get it all sorted out. Sisters Whitt and Finley and there friend Charlie are excited to attend a weekend get-away at a luxurious retreat. Shortly after arrival the trio find a woman's dead body at the falls. Two other murders happen shortly after and the woman join forces with Interpol Chief Inspector Gareth Evans to solve the murders which may be all connected to the case Evans is there working undercover on. Lots of intrigue and suspense but I'm not sure if I cared for any of the main characters very much. Maybe I'd feel different if I had read the first four books in this series first. My thanks to netgalley for giving me this book to read and review.

Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this book.

This is book 5 in the series, and the first of the series which I have read. Having said that, I was pretty lost starting the book. This does not have a standalone feel; events and people from the past factor in and you really need to know who they are to understand the characters. To be honest, I am still a bit out in the cold on why these characters have been to so many countries. I suspect I'd need to start at book 1 and work forward.

As to the mystery; there's a murder at a high-end spa. The sisters find the body and become involved the solving the murder. But there's a second mystery at this same time, one that brings a secret agent from their past back into the story. This one involves yachts, money laundering, and big money gaming. Is our murder connected in some way?

There were so many characters in this book I felt like I needed a cheat sheet to keep them all straight. The writing style is enjoyable, and I suspect that had I been reading this series all along I'd have enjoyed this one more than I did.
