This is a perfect gift for anyone interested in the Mississippi River- I loved learning more about many important towns along the river and things to do. Definitely a needed book for anyone looking to travel on/by the river!
I loved this book as it made me travel to different places and learn about lore, history, nature.
Well written and engaging.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine
The Wild Mississippi by Dean Klinkenberg is an absolutely fascinating insight into one of the most stunning area's of North American.
Anecdotally, I was talking to my dear friend who grew up in this area and we discussed how it is one thing to learn about an area from a book and another to truly live it and experience it and we agreed that this book certainly blended both of these.
Clearly written by someone who has grown up and lived their life in the region, it is a warm, immersive and yet highly informative guide to this beautiful and rich landscape
Thank you very much to Netgalley, Timber Books and Dean Klinkenberg for this wonderful ARC. My review is left voluntarily and all opinions are my own
I must confess my bias toward the Mississippi River; after all, I'm a Mississippi girl! Growing up in a coastal Mississippi town less than 80 miles from New Orleans, LA, I spent a significant amount of time around the lower portion of the Mississippi River. In addition to New Orleans, LA, some of my other favorite places along the lower Mississippi include Baton Rouge, LA, St. Francisville, LA, Natchez, MS, and Tunica, MS, just to name a few. I thoroughly enjoyed delving into the complete history of the river.
"The Wild Mississippi" is a uniquely crafted book that covers the fascinating history and journey of the Mighty Mississippi. It provided me with a profound and rich history lesson, particularly concerning its north headwaters. As a result of reading this book, I am now eager to explore the northern portion of the Mighty Mississippi.
Great book! Thanks so much, NetGalley, for this opportunity to read it!
I was very pleased to read the book The Wild Mississippi. It was a wonderful journey learning about the river and everything along its banks.
I grew up close to the Mississippi River and I can say now that I am more intrigued by the river than before. This book gave me a deep rich history lesson about the river. The author made the story come alive as I was reading. The book is a perfect choice for anyone interested in learning more about the Mississippi River.
Thank you #NetGalley for the copy of #The Wild Mississippi by #Dean Klinkenberg. This is my personal review.
A very interesting book. When I first saw the book, I thought it might be just dry facts and discussion. However the author did an excellent job of weaving the life of the river, from foundation to modern times. The book held my interest and was an enjoyable read.
Thank you to #NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
I'm sorry, but I was unable to get this book to download properly on my device. It comes across as all jumbled and impossible to read. I tried it on several different platforms, to no avail. Therefore, I am unable to leave a review. If you are able to reissue it as a Kindle format, I would love to give it another try. Thank you.
This book is full of interesting information about the Mississippi River and all the environments from the headwaters to the delta. Minnesota to Louisiana, there is a prime viewing locations for all things river. Not only does the author discuss the environments themselves, but also discusses the different flora and fauna in these different ecological habitats. I would recommend this book for those who want a cross-country vacation to trace the course of the great Mississippi River.
