A wonderful story of a woman overcoming hardships: abandonment by her father, a challenging relationship with her mother, racism, and a loss of connection with her family, along with trying to to understand who she is. It’s beautiful.

The description of the book seemed interesting, so I wanted to check the story out. Unfortunately, it is not working for me right now. It is nothing against the story or the author, but I couldn't get into the story/characters. I may try and find a physical copy to add the my library when it is released, though, because I think my readers could like it!

The overall book was good but didn’t keep me engaged with so many narrators at different times of their lives. The need to pause my reading and do something else was constant throughout. In my opinion, this made the it feel choppy and difficult to enjoy the story author was trying to tell. The ending was disappointing.

The story flowed well and the characters were well developed. I recommend this book and look forward to more from this author.
