Thank you Netgalley/the publisher for allowing me to read this book in exchange of an honest review. This was a really cute and interesting read. I really enjoyed the art style and the storyline, although I think I kinda know where this is going and am definitely rooting for one specific love interest WAY MORE than the other. Would definitely recommend this!

A cute love story about a college student named Yuuki who is lonely and looking for her soulmate. She becomes desperate enough to go to a club with a friend to look for a match. Though the club turns out to be too much for her she meets Iori, a guy who is scary at first but turns out to be a kind person.

I typically don't enjoy the love triangle trope, but I enjoy the characters enough to push past that.

This was such a cute read! I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I’m looking forward to the next volume. I assumed it would be two people meeting and connecting but the story had a few more layers and I found myself fully invested in both connections. Can’t wait for March!

Thanks to NetGalley and the Publisher for the arc.

I think there's a lot to like here in this story for shojo fans, but for me, it didn't change the formula enough to really catch my attention. The story focuses on Yuuki, a 20 year old college student who decides now is the time to search for her soulmate. She recruits a guy she met in a bar to be her sort of wingman on this journey, and right out the gate we have a love triangle set up with her, the new guy, and a guy she had a crush on in middle school. The art is fantastic, and I did enjoy reading this volume, I'm just not sure I liked it enough to continue the series. However, any fan of the genre should give this one a try.

Thank you Netgalley and Kodansha for allowing me to read and review How I Met My Soulmate! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Aaahhh, a new manga series by the mangaka of Waiting for Spring?! Heck yes I'm excited!

How I Met My Soulmate is filled with more romance. The series has a love triangle between Yuuki, a twenty year old who wants to find her soulmate, Iori, a college student who is working towards becoming a dentist and decides to help Yuuki find "the one", and Seno, Yuuki's middle school first love / crush who she made bento lunches for and meets up with him years later.

I love Anashin's art style. It's very recognizable, clean, and gorgeous. I'm happy she is doing a more romance focused story set in college. Yuuki is very relatable and smart. I like both of the love interests, even though Seno makes me a little wary of his intentions at this time.

Waiting for Spring has a love triangle as well and I personally think Anashin knows how to create a romance that will make you root for both guys and of course the female lead. I'm very excited to see where the story will go and if Anashin will surprise us in the end of who Yuuki's soulmate really is and if it's actually someone we haven't met yet.

A cute college romance. It was very sweet and utilized a lot of normal tropes in shojo manga. Yuuki has decided that she wants a soul mate and goes out with her friend to meet someone, but someone from her past also comes back into her life. There’s a love triangle forming in this first volume and it’s a cute, easy read. If you are a fan of this genre I believe it would work well for you!

Netgalley review, possible plot points mentioned below.

How I met my Soulmate by Anashin was a cute college romance. There were a few points that personally lowered the rating for me but I think it's a very enjoyable book.

For a college romance, it doesn't feel like it. They're only seen in a club or various bars and Iori's house, I get that college isn't the main focus but I feel like it should feel like they still attend college.

I'm not a big fan of quick love, while this book wasn't instant, it was close with it being in the first book. Even if she doesn't get with Seno, which I doubt she will, it is still starting too quickly for my liking. Speaking of Seno, he urks me still. I can't tell if he's being genuine because I still feel like he's playing with her feelings and will turn out to be kind of an ass.

I am excited to see where Iori and Yuuki go in their story. I love seeing Iori's soft side and their whole hangout scene, even if he was sketchy in the first part. I can't wait to see their fate play out.

I thank the authors and netgalley for giving me the chance to read and review this book.

The story was really easy to follow, well written and I enjoyed all of the characters. The artwork is really detailed and everyone is so attractive. The love triangle really caught me by surprise and made me sad at the same time. I’m already team Iori-kun so I’ll be rooting for him! I think the only thing that could’ve made this manga better is if I had just a little bit more context or background information on Iori-kun. I know that the next volumes will probably answer all of my questions though. I liked it and am looking forward to reading the other volumes. Thank you NetGalley for my ARC!

This was super cute!

How I Met My Soulmate is a cute shojo manga about Yuuki, a twenty year old looking for love. Her first time at a club with her friend does not go as planned, but it leads her to meeting Iori, who pledges to help her find her soulmate (Yes, you probably know where this is going). The artwork is great, the story is interesting. This volume does a great job introducing our two main characters and the love rival. I'm interested to see what happen in future volumes. I think this will be a big hit with shojo fans.

Thanks to Netgalley and the Publisher for the e-arc copy in exchange for review.

I loved this! I will always prefer a college romance over a high school romance, so this was perfect for me. I really appreciate that Yuuki doesn't immediately fall head over heels for this guy she just met. They slowly build their relationship as friends, which is a rare thing to see. I also love their dynamic of "girl looking for her soul mate" and "guy who's trying to be her wingman". I'm trying very hard to not give anything away since this is the type of story that does best when you go in blind. The characters felt believable, and like they could be genuine people. They built up intrigue in this first volume, and this is a very strong start to what I assume will be a slow-burn romance. I look forward to the second volume!

Thank you NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for an ARC of this manga in exchange for a honest review

I'm a sucker for coming of age stories with characters in their twenties and this manga was perfect for that! Yuuki is 20yo, she feels lonely and wish she could meet someone to fall for. The way she tries to navigate the dating scene and her worries were very relatable, I could really understand her.
The characters all felt fleshed-out, and I can't wait to know more about them in the next volume. Especially Iori, I didn't expect him to turn like this. He was different from other love interests I've seen before, and it felt natural to see him grow closer to Yuuki. Their dynamic was adorable, I couldn't put the manga down and some scenes were just epic!

I don't want to give to much away because I think it's better to go into the story that way, but I really recommend this manga. I'll definitely buy a physical copy once it's out!

It feels so good to be reading a new series from Anashin!! No one's writing shojou romances like them~ 'Waiting for Spring' was so much fun to read last year, with it being centered around the basketball court and highschool students in love, but this time around the characters are adults in university and we get even *more* fluffy romance! ♡ (Anashin's author note at the end stating that they wanted to include even more romance in this series is just *chefs kiss*. I cannot wait)

Iori is seriously the man of my dreams, and his love for home-cooked food is just aaaa (my heart can't handle).. I can't wait to continue the series and see the romance blossom between him and Yuki! Ofc they're my OTP right now, but the side characters are also written and illustrated beautifully.. so I'm just going to sit back

If you're looking for a new series to fall in love with, and feel all the fuzzies then look no further! Perfect for fans of series like 'A Sign of Affection' and 'In the Clear Moonlit Dust'!

4 stars!
This is definitely a quick read! The idea of finding your soulmate is so cute and I would say this book is just all cuteness so far. Insta-chemistry/love vibes with older characters (like in early 20s, I believe?) and the art style is so good. This manga made me think like your soulmate might be just waiting for you at a random restaurant or maybe you met your soulmate but you just don't know it yet vibes hehehe. Perfect Christmas read especially when the romance is everywhere.

Thank you Netgalley for this e-ARC!

I loved Waiting for Spring so I was super excited to see a new work from that mangaka.

I like that this one focuses on older characters (20-23) than most manga that focuses on 15-16 year olds. It's still a fairly typical shojo manga outside of that, so if you like shojo, this one is shaping up to be a good one.

I enjoyed that Waiting for Spring was shown as a manga the main character was reading and referenced about ideal yet unrealistic men in manga.

I'm definitely going to continue with this series.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy.

ARC provided by NetGalley.

This was such a sweet manga! It’s pretty basic cranky boy meets sunshine girl, she wants true love and he’s helping her. But I haven’t read one in awhile and this just hit the spot! My only complaint is they took away is dyed blonde hair 😭. Truly want to read the rest of the series ASAP :D

4,5 ⭐
What more is there to say apart from the fact that I loved this book? I have always been a huge fan of shoujos but I haven't read one in a while so this felt like a breath of fresh air.
The main characters were 20 and 23 and it was so nice to read a shoujo with people older than high school (I'm sure it's common but I don't know them :( ), and how relatable is it to read about a girl in her 20s suffereing from loneliness and desperation? very for me at least.
Every character was sweet, even the ones I thought wouldn't be were in the end, and they had cute dynamics as well (not just the mains). Also the men didn't seem toxic from what we've seen which is pretty nice (I know the bar is on hell but what can you do). I'm really looking forward to reading the sequel, and sad it probably won't be out in English for some time. I'm really excited also about getting to know the other works from the author!

This was such a cute and enjoyable read! Although there was some unnecessary drama, it was resolved pretty quickly and I get that it’s just part of the genre so it didn’t really bother me. The characters are really sweet and I’m excited to see where the story takes them. Now I’m kinda wishing for my own Iori.
I also loved the art style! It’s something I’m rather picky with but it was right up my alley. All in all this is a manga series I’ll definitely follow!

Review to come mid-December on blog/goodreads/other places.

I received this book from Netgalley/the publisher in exchange of an honest review.

I just HAD HAD to have this one when I spotted it up on Netgalley! I mean, I just LOVE a good shoujo and especially when it takes place in university/college.

In this one we meet a girl named Yuuki, 20 years old, and feeling lonely as heck! And she is ready to find her soulmate! To find a guy she likes and she wants to date! But she has zero experience, like, I thought I was a disaster before I met my now hubby, but this girl is also pretty hopeless, haha. I loved how her friend took her under her wing, went clubbing, and how she went from having zero prospects to having 3. Well, OK, 2 that she is interested in and one guy who has sadly fallen off the boat and has zero chance (yep, that poor guy, I just felt for him, he was crushing so hard). Yep, the dreaded love triangle, but you know what? I didn't mind it at all in this one. It was written pretty well and I was just so curious who she would fall for. Her childhood crush? Or the guy she just met? As of the end of the volume there has been many swoony moments with the guy she just met (and I am shipping them badly), but there also have been sweet moments + confessions + a good hearty talk that was needed with the childhood crush, so my opinion on him went from OMG the fucker (because of things that were said in the past) to OMG I need this guy as well. Haha. And that is a good sign for me. I am all open for both options to be come her boyfriend.

Yes, the childhood crush was a bit of a fucker at the start from what we learn. Our MC, Yuuki, made lunches and she thought he liked it... but there is more to it. I loved that Seno took the chance he had when he found Yuuki again, tried to be friends again, and then also was honest about things. About the bento. About his feelings. About what was really going on. And frankly, hearing THAT story, I can imagine him not wanting to go for that. UGH. *shivers* I really loved how hard he worked. How he was hoping to find her again. It was so cute!

But then there is Iori, the new guy who is very hot and very funny and very sweet. He really takes Yuuki under his wings, but you can quickly see he is not doing it just because. He actually really cares for her and it was just the cutest thing. I loved how he came to pick her up when she was drunk. I loved how he tried to build up her confidence when she was unsure about her cooking. And there were so many cute and swoony moments between the two of them. I found myself at a few occasions shouting at my screen that these two should just KISS already!

I also love Yuuki's best friend, we see her sporadically as the manga progresses, but I really liked the girl. She is so sweet and supportive and I hope that she also has luck in the dating game. So far it seems she is doing fine, haha, but she has dreams and so all the guys so far are not the one.

The art in the manga was really pretty. 100% shoujo.

The manga ends on a cliffhanger and HOT DANG I need the next volume. What will she do now? What will Iori do? I NEED TO KNOW!

All in all, a wonderful manga with fab romance and I cannot wait for more! Read this one!

I really enjoyed this! I can tell this is going to turn into a love triangle, which I usually hate if not done right but, I am. Interested to see how this will go!
