I enjoyed reading Waiting for Spring, so I was sure that I would enjoy this series! The art style is everything and some fluttering moments made me want to read the whole volume in one sitting. I usually don't prefer love triangles, but I am curious to see how this one plays out. Looking forward to the next volume!
“How I Met My Soulmate 1” by Anashin is about Yuuki and her desire to find her soulmate. At twenty years old, Yuuki has grown desperate to find her soulmate and leads her to go to a night club one night. The night club is where she meets a blond guy who treats her poorly. To make it up to her he hooks her up with someone she would be perfect for.
I really liked this Manga book. It is cute and adorable. The story is interesting, and I need to know what happens in the rest of the books. I loved the art, and it was nice and clean. The characters are drawn really well. Through and through, it is a good Manga read. 5 out of 5 stars.
Its been a while since I've read a shoujo manga and it definitely gave me the cute vibes I've been missing. This was a good start to Yuuki's search for a soul mate and the art style is clean and cute
Would rec for any shoujo enjoyer and I'll read the next vol!
I enjoyed this book so much! It's been a while since I last read a manga and it is so nostalgic going back to my childhood days where I'd do nothing but read them all day, book after book from the same series. I hope the second book will come out soon in English translation! The translations were well-understood for an English speaker like me and the drawings really reminded me of Shojo Beat books (love this company btw). There were so many times my heart was beating so fast for Iori-kun that I got so sad when I got to the end of the book.
For the second in line male lead, Seno-kun, I feel like I don't know enough of him to see if he is actually a good guy compared to how much I already know about Iori-kun so far. I'll have to read on to see if he really is a nice guy...
Thank you to NetGallery for allowing me to read this book through the app.

So, "How I Met My Soulmate" felt like that cozy corner of a bookstore where you stumble upon a hidden gem. Anakin's art just pulls you into this romantic tale with all the feels.
Meet Yuuki, just a college soul trying to find her other half. Anakin's drawings make her journey feel like chatting with a friend. And then, enter Iori—bleached hair and a mysterious vibe. Classic, right? But it works.
The story unfolds like your favorite comfort read, with a dash of predictability that's oddly comforting. It's that warm hug you crave after a long day.
For someone who adores shojo manga, this webtoon is like a cup of hot cocoa. A solid 3.5 stars because, well, it felt like watching one of those adorable K-dramas. 🌸✨ If you love a good dose of romance, this one's your cup of tea! 📚💕

I was pleasantly surprised all round with this. Originally, I picked up How I Met My Soulmate as cute easy read. And yes, How I Met My Soulmate is cute and the artwork is gorgeous but the story isn’t as predictable as I expected. I’m intrigued to see how this progresses.
Oh my gosh, this was so cute. Honestly, this is exactly the kind of quick, lighthearted read I've been needing lately. I loved the art style, the character interactions were great, and I'd like my own Iori too, thanks. I'll definitely be looking forward to the next volume!
This book was so amazing!! Anashin is such a wonderful author. The story is well crafted and so cute so far and of course the art is STUNNING.
Thank you, NetGalley, for a free e-galley of "How I Met My Soulmate 1" by Anashin in exchange for an honest review.
Anashin, the creator behind the beloved "Waiting for Spring," returns with a fresh and intriguing exploration of romance in the modern age with "How I Met My Soulmate 1." This shojo manga, set against the bustling backdrop of Tokyo, delves into the age-old quest for love and destiny, encapsulated in the story of Yuuki, a 20-year-old college sophomore. The narrative's central theme is the search for a soulmate, a quest that resonates deeply with a generation grappling with the complexities of modern relationships.
Yuuki, the protagonist, is a character many will find relatable. Her journey from the quiet longing in her heart to the chaotic, overwhelming experience at a club with her friend beautifully mirrors the often tumultuous path to finding love. Anashin excels in creating a vivid contrast between Yuuki's inner desires and the external world's noise and confusion, setting the stage for a profound exploration of what it means to find "the one." The introduction of Iori, with his initially intimidating appearance, adds depth to the narrative, challenging the reader's and Yuuki's perceptions of first impressions and the surprises destiny may hold.
Anashin's artwork in "How I Met My Soulmate 1" is both stylish and expressive, capturing the emotional nuances of the characters and the vibrant energy of Tokyo. The visual storytelling is effective in conveying both the subtleties of Yuuki's internal struggles and the dynamic interactions between characters. The manga's pacing is well-calibrated, allowing the story to unfold organically while keeping the reader engaged and invested in Yuuki's journey.
However, while the plot is engaging, it treads familiar ground, and some readers might find the narrative's reliance on common shojo tropes a bit predictable. The challenge for a story like this is to stand out in a genre filled with similar narratives. Future volumes will need to delve deeper into the characters and perhaps introduce more complex themes or unexpected twists to elevate the story beyond the conventional boundaries of shojo manga.
In summary, "How I Met My Soulmate 1" is a promising start to a new series by Anashin. It captures the essence of young love and the quest for connection in a world where destiny and chance intertwine. This manga is an excellent pick for fans of the genre and those who enjoy stories about the search for love and understanding in the modern world.
This has all the ingredients to a beautiful romance. It’s cute, fluffyI can easily see this as a live action drama romance and I’m excited to read the rest of the series!
Beyond adorable! The translation was great and didn't feel clunky or misspoken. I was kicking my feet and giggling for over half of the book. The story line pulls you in but the characters? The characters are what made me stay. Gorgeous FMC, gorgeous MMC, even a gorgeous 3rd wheel!
I'm beyond thankful to have been able to read this as an ARC from NetGalley and cannot wait for the next volume.
This is a cute and humorous romance! I enjoyed reading it.
Yuuki is a college student who is hoping to find her soulmate. For the first time, she goes with a friend to a clubto see if there is a man who she could truly fall in love with. However, there was no luck in sight until she meets Iori, a man with bleached hair who gave a not-so-great first impression. When she got back home, she received a call from Iori who apologized for his words and fixed up any misunderstandings. Turns out, he wasn't such a bad guy after all.
As I got to know more about Iori, I find that he's much more caring and understanding than his first impression. Although he is obviously the ML, Yuuki's past crush is brought up which pushes back the romantic progress and adds drama to the story.
I'm liking this series and I hope to read all the volumes.
I recommend this to anyone who seeks a cute romance that explores the spirals of finding love.
Anashin's 'How I Met My Soulmate' is a delightful manga filled with charming characters and a heartwarming storyline. The art style is visually appealing, capturing emotions beautifully. The pacing keeps you engaged, and the exploration of themes like fate and connection adds depth. While some plot elements may feel familiar, the execution brings a fresh perspective. Looking forward to the next installment!
I was so excited to hear that Anashin was starting a new shojo manga series! The characters are just as loveable as they are in Waiting For Spring but with more maturity as the characters are all in their early twenties. We meet Yuuki who is struggling to deal with her loneliness and wanting someone to be in a relationship with. I found her to be endearing and felt for her as the story progressed. We are also introduced to her best friend who I'm not sure how I feel about as we don't get much time with her in the manga. There are a few potential soulmates who we meet in this volume and let's just say I already know who I'm rooting for. There were moments with tension, humor, and cuteness. If you enjoy reading shojo manga but are wanting something a bit more mature without smut then I would recommend this.
It's a simple start to a romance manga. I don't typically gravitate towards two love interests in manga, but I think it works somewhat better than most in this one. Yuuki's a college student who wants to meet her soulmate and fall in love but learns it's simply not that easy. She meets Iori, another college student, who decides to help her find her soulmate. Although a bit slow, it's a great setup for the story and I'd be interested in reading the next volume to see where the story goes. As of now, it's just good.
This probably isn't my favorite manga that I've read, but it's still cute. It's about a girl who wants to find her soulmate; she's already in college and hasn't had a real relationship before. She wants to start looking so she can spend the rest of her life with this person. When her friend decides to help, they end up meeting a few guys at the bar they went to and the story goes from there.
It's a cute, slow burn, romance that I can tell is gonna stretch the story out for a while. I know the second one is going to come out in March 2024 and I can't wait to buy it for my library system. I've already put some of the 1st volume in a cart to purchase near the end of December. Good first volume!!
Squeee... this was so good. I need to see how this series ends. I love Honda. She's a very real character in a very relatable search for love. I can't wait to see where this series takes her.
The beginning of this book was so relatable and reminded me of my time in college trying to find a boyfriend! By the end of this volume I was hooked! Can’t wait to read volume two!
A manga with a college setting had my interest peaked. I was eager to see where this was going to go. The light-hearted aspect seemed perfect, but I must admit that this didn’t really hit the spot with me.
How I Met My Soulmate started off fun. The readers slowly get to know Yuuki. As the readers slowly get to know the main character, they are also slowly introduced to the plot and how it’s going to go. While I know this is a series, it still took a while to get going and for me to get into. This takes slice of life to a new level. This is truly a slice of life manga which struggled to start building the romantic relationships.
For me, I felt like the connections didn’t start building up until the last chapter of the volume. The love triangle that developed did leave me curious as to where things were going to go. Yuuki is left with a hard decision to make with Seno and Iori that’s going to leave the readers on a wild journey trying to figure out what is going to happen.
How I Met My Soulmate isn’t a bad start to a series, but it was not as strong as I thought it might be. The last couple of chapters are what pulled me in and have me thinking about picking up the next volume when it’s released to see what happens.
If slice of life mangas are up, your alley, then give this a try. I think that as this manga goes on, it could be a big hit that would be fun.
I loved it. Great setup for the series. Honestly , rooting for yuki to end up with the black hair guy. He has treated her fairly and with kindness :)
