Delaney Pace is a tough chick!
She has been away from her small Wyoming town for many years, but after a fatal crash killing her extended family, she returns home to take care of her niece.
The story opens with Delaney chasing a speeding car…until she gets pulled over. The cop has no idea who she is, or how much of an influence her family has made on this small town…
As soon as she is installed ‘on the job’, a case comes in of a young woman who was murdered, and tortured… just one small problem. Delaney KNOWS her!
And so it begins….
She and her new partner are now in pursuit of this killer. But…what is he after? And who will be his next target?
Very descriptive. Very gory. Probably NOT the best idea to read this just before Christmas…
But, what a story!! And if you are like me, you’ll be rooting for Carly too!
Oh…and this is book #1 of this new series!
3 1/2 ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 for me, rounded up to 4.

Happy Reading!! 📚📖
I came across 'Her Silent Bones' by Pamela Fagan Hutchins without any prior knowledge of the author, and I really enjoyed it! I'm giving it a solid four stars because, honestly, it's very good. I listened to this on audio, and the narrator did a fantastic job with altering voices, using different tones and inflections.
The characters feel so authentic. I got attached, emotionally invested, the whole deal. Hutchins really has a knack for making her characters leap off the page. And guess what? There's humor in a crime thriller! Who would've thought? It gave the characters this relatable quality, and suddenly, I felt like I was part of their world. A nice touch.
Now, that crime scene at the beginning? It was a little intense and graphic and it made me pause for a moment. However, it set the stage for the entire story. Surprisingly, it turned out to be the most detailed part, and from there, things took an interesting turn.
As for the ending? Surprise, surprise – a twist I never saw coming. Hutchins sure knows how to keep a secret until the very end.
Sure, there were a few moments that felt a bit slow, but overall, the story more than made up for it. 'Her Silent Bones' is one of those books that keeps you guessing and fully engaged. If you enjoy crime thrillers with characters you can root for and a plot that keeps you on your toes, this one's a must-read.
In this gripping novel, a detective haunted by her father's murder reenters the police force, only to find herself investigating a shocking crime – the murder of her sister-in-law. The main character, with her spunky and tough demeanor, stands out as a compelling female lead. As an audiobook listener, I was captivated by the well-crafted story, filled with unexpected twists that kept me eagerly listening. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am excited about the prospect of delving into the sequels in the upcoming series.
3 stars- after restarting the book 4 times and only making it to the 30% mark each time, I gave up. I’m not really sure why it didn’t draw me in, but it didn’t. I think it might have been that the audiobook narrator was not very expressive when speaking and the storyline didn’t stand out from any other ones I’ve read. I realized I was just tuning out the book every time I started listening to it. Nothing was keeping me engaged enough to continue.
I also want to thank NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!
Her Silent Bones is the first book in the new series featuring Detective Delaney Pace who returns home after a long time away. Her family needs her and that's why she decides to take this route.
This crime thriller comes with revelations and unexpected twists and turns that kept me listening on! The first thing that comes to my mind when thinking about the characters is determined .
The cliffhanger at the end of the story is a motivation to get into part 2 as well!
Thank you #NetGalley #Bookouture Audio for this audiobook
By far one of the best books I listened to this year. It was gripping, kept my attention the whole time, the details were wonderful and the characters were great. Really cannot wait to see how they develop! I did not see the twist at the end and I am very much looking forward to the next book in the series!
If you are a fan of Kathy Reichs or Jefferson Bass as I am I would highly recommend this book! Where there isn't as much forensics in this series it is a great detective book that really fits in well with them.
Thank you NetGalley and Pamela Fagan Hutchins for allowing me to review this Advanced Copy Read of Her Silent Bones.
Her Silent Bones (Detective Delaney Pace Book 1) by Pamela Fagan Hutchins
Narrated by Stephanie Cannon
Publisher: Bookouture Audio
Genre: General Fiction (Adult), Mystery & Thrillers

Her Silent Bones is the first book in the new Detective Delaney Pace series by Pamela Fagan Hutchins. This was the first book I’ve read by the author and I know it won’t be the last!
This book was so good that I could not put it down! Set in small-town Wyoming, this book was a fast read and kept me on the edge of my seat! I thought the story was fabulous, filled with unexpected twists and turns. The characters were great and I loved getting to know them. I look forward to reading the future books in the series! I need more!!!
My husband and I visited Wyoming earlier this year and it was so neat getting to visit again through this book. Actually seeing how remote Wyoming is made the locations in this book more real and gave me a better perspective on how difficult reaching some of these locations could be.
The narration by Stephanie Cannon was incredible! I loved how she brought this story to life!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is my first book by this author and not my last. I really enjoyed this audiobook. Great characters and non stop twists and turns. I loved the end…what a twist. I can’t wait to read more.
Listened to this book in a roadtrip. Great narrator, great story. It held my attention a slight twist that I did not see coming and a burgeoning love story. I can’t wait for the next installment. Thank you to NetGalley for this free advanced copy. I’m leaving this review voluntarily.
I highly recommend this title, which I enjoyed to and from work via audiobook.
Delaney Pace heads back to her hometown where she witnessed her father's murder as a young child and is confronted with more tragedy upon the death of her estranged brother, his beautiful wife and now a grisly murder on her first day back on the job. And that's just the beginning! There is clearly more to tell about Delaney's past and Hutchins does such a good job not overdoing the back story so we can focus on the crazy course of events unfolding in this new world. I know there is more to come in Books 2 and 3 about Delaney, her new partner, Leo, and the hijinks Delaney is in for, as trouble seems to follow her wherever she goes. I am hooked and thrilled to have a new series in which to envelope myself as we settle in for the dark days of winter, and to be accompanied by such an interesting character as Delaney.
Oreo Cream
Lebanon, Kansas
The Nucleus
The Bullseye
....ME!
What's up with that list? They are all things in the MIDDLE. (Funfact, Lebanon Kansas is in the middle of the USA-population 178), you are welcome for that fun fact you can drop at the Christmas Office Party when you have been cornered by Ned, the Junior accountant)
Back to the review. This book is Good, it is average. It is not bad by any means, but it is not great either. Ironically the beginning and the end are entertaining but the middle is just ho hum a little bit boring. IF you ask my parents, it is probably like how they view their children. Love the first and last...oh wait we have a middle child?? [Just kidding......]
Things I liked: The surprise at the end was very clever that only had my spidey senses go off right before it was revealed. I liked how at the end the author leaves it so I want more of Leo and Delaney...and there are loose ends that need to be tied up. The last 15% flew by and full of action which I usually don't get to excited about.
Things I didn't like: Delaney's tough girl attitude, come on girl, don't act like you are tough as nails, be a little softer and less "one of the guys", Kateina the young girl was pretty stupid, making really dumb decisions that put people in jeopardy. The middle part of the book just dragged, things were happening, but maybe there was just too much detail? Of course there was also the whole people who are religious are "off".
So this leads me back to, a very average read. Right in the middle. 3 stars.
Will I read #2?
Yes I will
Will I shout on top of the roof about this book?
Probably note.
Thank you NetGalley and Pamela Fagan Hutchins for allowing me to review this Advanced Copy Read of Her Silent Bones. All of these thoughts and opinions are my own, and I was inpaid for them.
'Her Silent Bones' by Pamela Fagan Hutchins is the first book in the Detective Delaney Pace series. It was a great first book and it kept me interested the whole time. The narration by Stephanie Cannon is enjoyable, her voice was very fitting to the characters and the atmosphere of the story. It's very suspenseful and I was very engaged with the story. I really enjoyed it and I recommend it to everyone that likes a fast-paced police whodunnit with lots of action. I don't think Delaney ever sleeps. She has a ton of energy. I feel like I need a nap just reading about all the things she's done in a day. It was a fun read/listen and I'm all here for all the future books. If Ms. Hutchins wants to write 20 more, I'll take them.
Thank you Bookouture Audio and NetGalley for providing me with an early copy of this audiobook.
Detective Delaney Pace's return to her hometown in Kearney, Wyoming, to care for her niece takes an unexpected turn when she's thrust into a murder investigation, unraveling deep, dark memories from her past. The plot, intricately weaved unfolds at a fast pace, making this police procedural a thrilling ride. Delaney's character, a true badass, adds a compelling and dynamic element to the story. I enjoyed some of the revelations of Delaney's past. I'm also very curious about her partner, Leo.
The narrator, Stephanie Cannon did a wonderful job portraying Delaney and other characters in the book. The tones and inflections used were great. She kept me engaged till the vey end.
This is a riveting and enjoyable read for fans of the genre.

Fifteen years ago Detective Delaney Pace watched her father’s murder. She really never truly recovered. Now is dealing with the death of her brother and sister-in-law who were both killed in an automobile accident. She goes back to Kearney, Wyoming.to help her eleven year old niece Kateena.
First thing that happens is she called to the scene of a mountain cabin where a body is found.
I was excited to start this-I am a big fan of thrillers especially psychological Thrillers plus love to support an author’s new series!
There are several great series featuring female detectives that I follow: Melinda Leigh’s - Bree Taggert, Lisa Regan’s-Josie Quinn, Linda Castillo’s-Kate Burkholder and James Patterson’s-Lindsey Boxer.
Hmmm my problem with this one is I am not a fan of profanity. I was very disappointed with the audiobook, I ‘get’ that profanity is used but hearing it is always worst for me and certainly takes away from my enjoyment of the story.
I realize this is my problem and I am sure most readers don’t notice the nasty language.
Want to thank NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for granting me this early audiobook.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for January 16, 2024.
It seems my 3 star 🌟 is very much in the minority so please read it yourself and see if you just might love it. It was good enough. Small town, big murders, a feisty cop returning to town just as the murders begin. It was well written. Well plotted but I hated the end, I know it’s the first in the series and is therefore a cliffhanger but it wasn’t for me. I wasn’t mad on the narration either, I think that actually made the whole thing a 3.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookature Audio for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook in return for an honest review.
This was my first listen to this author and narrator and I really liked it. Detective Delaney has lots of issues which started to get explored and it worked well. I really liked the ending leaving scope for the next one.
I was given an advance copy by netgalley and bookouture audio but the review is completely my own.
“My aunt is a bada$$.” The bad guys better watch out for Detective Delaney Pace.
The story started with a bang or should I say speed. There is a LOT to unpack and I am not mad at it.
The killer is creepy. The killer is calculating. Delaney is not the person to mess with.
Let me back up. Delaney we learn has had a traumatic life and come through it as a bada$$ with a strong sense of right and wrong. When we meet her, she has come home to take care of her niece after the death of her brother and sister-in-law.
Delaney is a force to be reckoned with. I instantly wanted to know her. I suspect that her niece Kateena would be one too when she grows up, the signs are already there.
There is a lot of history that unfolds throughout the story as Delaney, Leo and Coltrane hunt The Delivery Man.
The intro says that it is “gripping crime thriller” and that it is. It reminded me of an action movie where you wondered if the action hero ever got any sleep and exactly how they were able to do what they did.
Tip for readers, pay attention to everything. Go back and reread if you must, you won’t want to miss anything.
Thank you to #NetGalley for the opportunity to do an early read and share my thoughts on the story.
Happy Reading!
A great thriller that will put you on edge right from the start of this book.
Full of twists and turns and a rollercoaster of a story. Loved it - page turner and fast paced. Recommended
Thank you to Netgalley
I am a Delaney Pace fan after this! She is a very bad A** law enforcement agent and business owner who has a ton of baggage to work through. Then there is handsome, mysterious Leo who I’m routing for too. Would love to continue reading this series after this!
A super chilling killer and a big twist near the start of the book really gripped my attention The murder that Delaney Pace is investigating just got personal!
For a tiny town, there was an awful lot going on, which made it feel a little far-fetched and it did drag in places, but it’s a solid start to a new detective series and lots of elements of the story ready to be continued in book two.
3 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, Pamela Fagan Hutchins and Bookouture, for an ARC in return for an honest review.
