Thematically, the concept - “.What you need is within you, and also connected outside of you!” was loud and clear. I did like this book. The introduction of another pantheon made it more complex. The character development was nice and the depth was present!! The ending made me smile, after a lot of complex twists and turns. I recommend this book!!
Thank you NetGalley. Firstly YASS for the third in a triology that is all about representation. I think this was an appropriate conclusion and I look forward to reading more from the author.
The Gilded Ones #3: The Eternal Ones by Namina Forna is the epic final book in the Gilded Ones series, and it totally delivers! The story follows Deka and her friends as they fight to save their world from a powerful enemy. This book picks up right where the second one left off, and there’s even more action, drama, and plot twists that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
What I love about this series is how strong and fierce the characters are, especially Deka. She’s been through so much already, and in this book, she grows even more, taking on some huge responsibilities. The world-building is amazing, and you can really feel the stakes getting higher as the story unfolds. Plus, the battles and magical moments are so exciting, you’ll want to keep reading to see what happens next.
The relationships in this book are also a big part of the story. Deka’s bond with her friends and allies is really touching, and it makes the story even more emotional. The ending is satisfying and powerful, but also a little bittersweet because it wraps up the whole series.
A great way to finish off the series and I'm so glad that I picked the Gilded Ones up when it came out!
The Eternal Ones is the finale of the Gilded Ones series. Deka realizes that the people she believes to be her family have lied to her, and she must work to save Otera. With a small group of trusted friends, she sets out to save Otera and, in the process, finds out who she is. It's a stunning conclusion to the epic world built as a setting for this trilogy.

A truly epic conclusion to a fantastic series. I loved these books so much! If you are looking for strong female characters who fight back against a system that oppresses them, this series is made for you. Highly, highly recommend!
Absolutely love the cover and storyline. I bought a physical copy of this book to add to my personal library. Ms Forna is an auto buy author for me.
This was a great finale to the trilogy. I couldn’t put it down. And I really loved how everything got wrapped up. I think fans of the series will feel satisfied with this ending.
Deka is determined to save herself and the world that she loves so much but she is forced with choices, but nobody should have to make. I do really enjoy this book and this series, but I did think that in this particular book it seems like the author was trying to do too much, like there were too many things that she needed to cover to keep the story moving along, and as a result, if that enough time was spent on the things that were important to the story. As a result, the story felt like it really just kind of dragged on, and it definitely was a book that I ended up putting to the side and coming back to several times because the middle was dragging so much that it just wasn’t holding my interest. I will definitely recommend to my students for me. This wasn’t as great as the first two.
The eternal ones by namina Forna is a ya fantasy that is a third book of a trilogy so its hard to expalin why I loved this one without spoiling it but just know if u loved books 1 & 2 u will love this one espcially the ending it wrapped up nicely and also made me cry a lot as well!! 5/5 stars wrapped up another series this year
Phenomenal title! Namina Forna has created such an amazing world. I love everything about this series!
Often, I find that the pacing of a trilogy either drags out the final action or wraps up everything too quickly. “The Eternal Ones” by Namina Forna concluded the Deathless trilogy in a way that felt right and not rushed. Throughout the trilogy, we got to see Deka grow from a young woman barely out of girlhood to a powerful leader. This final installment focuses on Deka as she works with her comrades to destroy the false gods who have ruled over Otera for far too long.
This is a book that has a lot of characters, so I felt that I almost should have reread the first two books before reading this one. The author did integrate subtle reminders about who characters were, which I appreciated.
This was a good ending to the Gilded Ones trilogy. All the loose ends were tied up, and the characters all showed significant growth. I struggled with pacing throughout the book, in a way that I previously hadn’t. I was glad to see Deka’s journey all the way through.
As much as I enjoyed the first book in this series, I felt the next two books drug on a bit. There were so many characters and storylines to keep track of, and that made it difficult to stay engaged in the story. I was pleased with the ending and felt invested with the main characters, so I was glad I stuck it out and finished the series.
The finale to the incredible Gilded Ones trilogy was just as great as the first two books- what a way to say goodbye to such an immersive world! I look forward to reading more from the author in the future.
The first Gilded Ones book was one of my favorite releases of that year. But unfortunately, every installment since has left me wanting more and more. The character development felt lacking, the pacing put me off, and too much of the narrative felt inorganic -- more convenient to the plot than a natural progression.
I’m sooooo sad this story came to an end lol. The world building over the three books were so good! I loved how we got a real wrap up that didn’t come off as rushed. I’m happy we got to see how the main grew from a timid girl to a complete boss!!
Fantastic end to an incredible trilogy! These are some of my all-time favorite books and I was very happy with how it ended.
Forna has done it again! The characters pop off the page and you can’t help but be sucked into the world with them.
