Intense, erotic, and emotional journey of self-awareness and pushing boundaries. Another couple's story at the Black Rose, where an established Dom and Sub find each other and find themselves. Not for the prudish, an immersion into the BDSM lifestyle, and a story of heart.
good romance between mary and ronan. lovd that they found love out of the club. Loved that she figured out what she wanted and her life. loved the smexy times.
Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the arc. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. This is the third book in the Black Rose series by Helen Hardt. As usual Helen Hardt, did an amazing job. I loved this book. I thought this book was going to be mostly spice but this book is a romance to its core. You go on an emotion journey with Mary throughout the book. I hope there is another book in this series.
This little book packed a LOT into it. What I thought was going to be solely Dominant Submissive erotica, turned out to have romance written into its core. Our FMC Mary, aka Blossom, is on the verge of leaving the club life after a scene went awry. Thinking she might be finished with the lifestyle, in walks Ronan, the epitome of a massively handsome Scottish Dom whom Mary instantly finds intriguing. A bit of insta-lust (which is actually fitting given the club circumstances), Mary has to determine if Ronan is enough to help sway her to play again in her sub role. I thought the leather club lifestyle discussion was really interesting and felt that the players were very lovingly described by the author in a way that made this informational about the lifestyle just as much as erotica for erotica’s sake. There are a few standout 🔥🔥 scenes, but if that’s the only thing you are looking for in a book, then this book wouldn’t be it. Blossom is just as much about the emotional connection as the club scene and the majority of the book while definitely hot, is not only about sex. I read this book very quickly which is always a sign that I enjoyed it. A few times the writing felt a bit repetitive as the point of view switches from Ronan to Mary; dialogue is repeated in transition and I thought it was unnecessary. That being said, if you’re looking for a slightly taboo romance read that has many plot twists, Helen Hardt will keep you entertained. I received this book as an advanced copy from Entangled Publishing and NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
I enjoyed this book. I liked that Mary got her moment to shine and that we got more of her story than just working at the store. Ronan was also great, but sometimes his inner thoughts pulled me out of the story a bit. I loved that Creole culture was front and center and how involved Meme was in the book. The voodoo aspect was really cool and so was all the food in New Orleans. The one scene in the hotel had me gasping and it was definitely sexy to the max. I thought it was great how Mary and Ronan brought out the vulnerabilities in each other. However, the ending felt so wildly out of place and I would have loved to see their relationship on more natural, less life-threatening terms. This series was super fun and I liked all three books! Thank you to Entangled for providing me an e-ARC to read and review!
Another amazing read by a great author. I loved the story and characters. From page one I was hooked. Would recommend
What I would give to see Ronan in the flesh. Mary has come to a fork in the road of her submissive nature and might just be looking for more than all the other dominants can give. Ronan is the Scottish dominant in a kilt that is looking for a new submissive to pass the time. When their lives collide they are left wondering what the future may hold. It will be a life changing relationship for them both. With great characters this was a great addition to he series.
Thank you netgalley and Entangled for letting me read and honestly review this E-arc.
This is my first Helen Hardt read. I wanted to love it but from the beginning I knew it wasn't for me. I didn't care for the description of the main male character. I also don't like the quick jump to " she's different". I feel like if I was more into the character this would have been a much better read for me so this was just personal preference.
I'm so sorry, I don't think I was the correct audience for this book.
It felt very soap-opera-written-by-a-man to me 😕 the storyline was painfully predictable and the dialogue was... not it. At one point "secreting my juices" was used, and that just did not land well for me.
I saw that others gave this book five stars, so there's obviously the audience for it. But, respectfully, I don't think I'm a part of it.
*I received this as an arc in exchange for a review. I appreciate that netgalley, the author and publisher gave me the opportunity*
The synopsis of this book sounded very good, but after 50 pages I just wasn’t connecting with it enough to want to finish it. I have never read Helen Hardt and I would be willing to try a different book by her, it is just unfortunate this one wasn’t for me.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. As such, I'm sad to find that I did not like this book. I thought the dialogue was basic, the characters were bland yet somehow over the top and just a lot of things happened in a book for the sake of drama (so many things for such a short book!) that weren't really necessary. I just found it overall to be silly. I feel bad about that, but I just really didn't like the book.
Also, the inclusion of Voodoo felt..odd. It's not my place to say whether it's inclusion was done well or not, but it personally felt a bit magical otherness in a negative exoticism way, if that makes sense.
Helen Hardt has a wide fan-base, so clearly her writing works far better for others than for me.
Another thrilling read from Helen Hardt. "Blossom" book three in the Black Rose series was definitely my favorite so far, I read the entire book in one sitting.
There are several quotes in the first 15% of this book alone that had me completely sold on the MMC Ronan. Seeing his relationship form with the FMC Mary was so enjoyable I loved their connection, passion and heat.
One of my favorite things about this series and author is how she doesn't shy away from showcasing different aspects of the BDSM Dom/Sub lifestyle. The storylines have more depth and the characters feel more authentic. She gives a glimpse of the good and the bad and all the emotions tied within them.
Each book within this series can be read as a standalone but I would recommend reading the first two while you wait for the release of this one in January 2024.
Thank you to the author Helen Hardt, Net Galley and Entangled Publishing for providing me with an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own.
Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for this book.
Helen Hardt books are a go to book for me.. She always does a fantastic job and this one is no exception.
The characters Mary and Ronin are super engaging. I became seriously invested into this book.
I had to keep reading and my poor family had to settle for pizza for super as I just had to keep reading until the end!
Can not wait for Helen's next book!!
Highly recommend.
She blossoms under his touch.....he allows her to defy his dominant nature.
Mary is a submissive when it comes to playtime only, but when she meets handsome domineering Ronan he has her questioning her entire way of life. Ronan wants a submissive in all aspects of his life but when he meets Mary she intrigues him so much he is determined to make her his submissive no matter what.
This book has it all. Lace, leather, a hunky Scotsman and self discovery. Let's not forget the explosively hot scenes between Mary and Ronin that left me wanting more! The last half of this book was so unexpected that it had me on the edge of my seat reading into the late hours of the night just to see how it was all going to end. Kudos to Helen Hardt in developing the characters in such a way that you are rooting for the HEA from the very beginning.
4.5/5 ⭐
5/5 🌶️
Per usual, Helen Hardt has written another fantastic book. This series has me in a chokehold. Every single book gets better and better. This world that she has created is true to life and the characters are amazing. Mary and Ronan are goals! I love and appreciate that this book shows that Dom/Sub drop is a thing and I love even more that it was worked through together. Ronan is a very well written character and he is the epitome of what a good Dom/man looks like. This book was fun, witty and overall just a great read. It’s kind of fast paced but it flows well and I can see every single character as I read. The spice in this book is so good and this has to be the most descriptive one yet but that just made the book even better! The HEA at the end was beautiful and wonderfully executed. 10/10!!
I really wanted to like this but the book just didn’t match the feel of the description. The majority focuses on MFCs trauma and the middle just drags. I was hoping for a salacious players club type book and this wasn’t it.
Thanks Net Galley and Entangled Amara for the temporary ARC to review.
