I had to complete this sibling series! Luke’s personality and resistance to all things girly, romantic, while falling in love was a fun read. With all the tropes possible in here (which is joked about with his sisters) it felt like a rom-com and was predictable, but sometimes a light hearted predictable read in a chaotic unpredictable world is needed for escaping. ❤️

Loyally, Luke by Pepper Basham is sooooo good!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5 stars for me!)

Okay. So where should I start my review? Well, from the beginning! Here’s the deal. You *need* to read Authentically, Izzy first. Then you *need* to read Positively, Penelope. And then and only then will you be prepared for the awesomeness that is Loyally, Luke. Because without the context of the first two books, this story is probably not going to seem nearly as funny or as perfect-for-Luke as it actually is.

For those of you who have already read books 1 & 2 of the Skymar trilogy, I’m
assuming that, like me, Luke is actually your favorite character of the series and you’re super excited for book 3. I know I couldn’t wait to read it! (So thankful I got to read the ebook ARC via NetGalley!)

All I’m going to say about Loyally, Luke is that you’re in for a treat! Luke’s story is, of course, full of hilarious snarkiness as well as moments of sappiness and romance—those things Luke *didn’t* want in his book (and yet, he did, he just didn’t know it.)

Pepper Basham’s characters are beautifully imperfect. Flawed, yet forgiven. Works-in-progress. So very much like real people. Even her royal characters are wonderfully realistic. Forgiveness and trust are a couple of the faith themes I noticed.

I thoroughly enjoyed this Christian romcom story! I’d recommend this series to adult readers (maybe even older teens) who enjoy books with clean romance and lots of laugh-out-loud moments.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Ahhhh!!!! What a way to end this series. Swoon worthy for sure. Luke Edgewood is visiting Skymar to work on a few buildings projects for Lewis Gray. Things get off to a rough start right from the beginning in the airport. A coffee mix up followed by a rude lady and a headache that just won't quit doesn't bode well for the way this trip will go. Once at the cabin to do renovations, Luke learns he has a secret project to either accept or deny. I found myself swooning over Luke a time or two or ten. Luke befriends the orphans he comes in contact with and is faced with The rude lady from the airport who turns out to be none other than Princess Elliana St Clare ( only Luke doesn't realize this is who she is). We have front row seats to watch Luke and Ellie's friendship grow. What a ride. I love this family and their closeness. I could keep going but I'm afraid I would give spoilers and I really don't want to do that.

**Thank you to Netgalley and Thomas Nelson for an advanced copy of this book. The opinions in this review are mine.

Loved this one. It is the third book in a series but you don't necessarily need to read the first two books even though it is nice to know the characters already. I was looking forward to read about Luke and I really had a great time. I think it might be my favorite of all three.

I absolutely loved Loyally, Luke by Pepper Basham. I didn’t want the book to end. I have read the entire series, and I have become throughly attached to the Edgewoods. While reading, it is like visiting old friends. This book made me laugh. It made me cry. It had me on the edge of my seat hoping everything worked out for Luke and Ellie. I recommend the entire series.

I was provided a copy of the book from the author/publisher. I was not required to post a positive review, and all views and opinions are my own.

THIS BOOK MUST BE READ!!!! I didn't want this one to end. The chemistry between Luke and Ellie is off the charts.

The text messages between Luke and his sisters are my favorite parts of the book. I love how they tease each other, keep each other in check and encourage one another!

The addition of the kids in the orphanage was so sweet and the reader will fall in love with them and the ways that they are taken care of.

The author needs to continue to write about the people of Skymar!!!

Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc. The opinions are my own.

Such a delightful way to end the series! Luke is everything I expected from the first two books - and more. Basham doesn't disappoint with this funny, heartwarming, and deep read.

You know how you skim a synopsis of a book and think it'd be a cute read? Yeah, that's what I thought with this book. And don't get me wrong, it was cute. But it was also so much more.

The author did a fantastic job of making the main characters feel real, even in a royal setting, and believable. I totally got sucked into the story and I'm so bummed it's over now. I really hope there's a sequel!!

Ellie & Luke were both amazing main characters and both brought so much joy to the book. Luke's sisters were hilarious, as were the townsfolk and other workers. The orphans tugged at my heart so much. Little Faye, love her.

I would definitely recommend this book. I'm not a royal watcher/follower but this book was wonderful!!

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

A regular guy who fervently avoids all things classy and especially royal, and a princess who has just committed to taking her place in the working royal family…what could go wrong?? Throw in some cute kids, a hilarious best friend (I’m looking at you Maeve!), and a mishap or two, and you have…Loyally Luke!
This was another great book by Pepper Basham! For some reason this one didn’t suck me in as much as Izzy and Penelope, but I still enjoyed seeing Luke meet his match with Ellie. I appreciated the importance they both placed on duty throughout this story, as it is something that is often overlooked and gave these characters depth and maturity. As a practical person, this made me feel more able to connect with two characters who were determined to make the “right” choices, even when it was hard. While the attraction between Luke and Ellie was very real almost from the beginning, they still recognized the power of choices and how the impact of those choices on the people around us always needs to be taken into consideration as well. Of course, it was fun to catch up with Izzy/Brodie and Penelope/Matt again as well! And my interest was definitely peaked for The Mistletoe Prince, which will be coming out later this year 😁.

Tiaras and hammers and chimes, oh my!
A perfect continuation in the Skymar series. This time we follow Luke and his journey to happily ever after. If this isn’t your first rodeo reading about the Edgewood siblings, then you already know about Luke. It was wonderful finally being in his shoes and seeing how much more there is to his character and how wonderful he truly is. He is in Skymar doing some construction work and trying to avoid hallmark moments at all costs, until a certain blonde-haired, Grace Kelly look-alike enters the picture. I love Ellies' character, how she has grown from her past mistakes and trying to show everyone she is a new person. She brings out such a wonderful side to Luke that we don’t get to see in the other books, and Luke is exactly what Ellie needs. Their moments together will make you swoon, and you might just hear those chimes that Penelope is so sure of.

The wonderful Edgewood siblings make appearances and add so much laughter to the story. You honestly cannot help but smile when they have interactions between them. Pepper has done such a wonderful job at creating a family that shows what love and support looks like.
I promise you will be wishing you belonged to this family.

Pepper Basham is such a master rom-com writer, she always has the perfect recipe of romance and humor. She has created a world and characters that everyone who reads falls in love with. Loyally, Luke was no exception. You will fall in love with all the characters and be rooting for another happily ever after.

DNF at 30%

Pepper D. Basham's small town romance Loyally Luke centers on the relationship between Luke Edgewood, a construction worker, and Duchess of Mara Elliana St. Clare.

I was intrigued by this book after reading the synopsis, but after three chapters, I thought the characters were uninteresting.

The fact that much of the book—at least the portion I read—was devoted to texting was the first thing that threw me off. For example, each chapter would open with a scene of characters texting one another.

The fact that it was never made apparent whose point of view it was in threw me off further. Because of the texting, I would initially assume the chapter was written from Luke's point of view, but it would eventually reveal Elliana's inner monologue.

To be honest, the book is badly written, and I regret not dnf’ing way sooner, but I wanted to give it a shot.

*Thank you to NetGalley, Thomas Nelson, and to the author, Pepper D. Basham, for providing me with this e-arc in exchange for an honest review.*

What a satisfying ending to a stellar series! With a unique setting in the small kingdom of Skymar, Pepper Basham once again transports readers into a romcom with the much-anticipated love story of Luke ... or is it? Delightfully adverse to all things Hallmark, Luke's inner voice is fly-off-the-page funny.

Ellie's backstory is rich and vibrant in a way not often explored in Christian fiction. I found her to be a friend. Well done! What an ending!

Y’ALL. The way I was squealing through Luke & Ellie’s story! Like, Penelope would be (and probably actually is) so proud for how Luke & Ellie’s meet-cute ended up, because the whole thing was such a Hallmark movie. It has everything, including royalty, and this is such a sweet ending to such a cute series. If snuggling up with your pet with your favorite hot drink whilst watching your favorite Hallmark or Netflix romance movie is your favorite thing to do, you’ll love “Loyally, Luke”.

"Loyally, Luke" by Pepper D. Basham falls short of expectations, earning only a 2-star rating. While the premise promises a blend of romance and comedy, the execution leaves much to be desired. The protagonist, Luke Edgewood, is a one-dimensional character relying on worn-out clichés—his resistance to love, love found in an unexpected place, and a seemingly unattainable woman.

The narrative feels forced, with the attempt to create a fairy-tale romance falling flat. The protagonist's interactions with the Grace Kelly lookalike lack genuine chemistry, making their connection unconvincing. The reliance on romantic tropes becomes predictable, robbing the story of any unique charm it might have had.

The construction of the plot feels contrived, and the inclusion of a castle-like orphanage and a secret journal does little to elevate the overall narrative. The attempt at creating a magical snow globe atmosphere comes across as forced and fails to evoke the intended emotions.

In "Loyally, Luke," Basham fails to deliver a fresh take on the romantic genre, leaving readers with a story that lacks depth, originality, and the emotional resonance expected from a romantic comedy.

If a hallmark movie and the princess diaries had a baby, it would be this book. I knew nothing about this series or author when I received this arc, so I didn’t know it had two books that precede it, but thankfully I was able to follow along even though I didn’t know the side characters and their backstories. The author uses a different writing style than I’ve ever read before where a big chunk of the books is texting dialogue between the main characters and their friends/siblings. At first I didn’t really enjoy it, but over time I actually felt that it gave the story a unique twist and also helped move the plot along. Luke’s sisters were really young and immature sounding and we don’t get to actually see them interact in person, but I liked the friend of Ellie and their text exchange and felt like it was more realistic. I liked the MMC and really appreciated his thoughts on love and relationships, as well as how he encouraged and championed the people around him.
I was not a huge fan of the plot of the book, mostly because I find the royal, fake, vaguely European country thing to be really cringy. It’s just not for me, but I think this one was at least somewhat well done.
If you’re a fan of hallmark movies and like the cheesy, super wholesome and not super angsty type of romances, I recommend this book.

Loyally Luke

I really didn’t want the book to end. I want more of Ellie and Luke. I love all their scenes together. I loved the orphans girls and how Luke talked to them. This will be a story that will stay with me for a while.

I received an advanced copy from NetGalley. This book review is my own opinion.

'I'm surrounded by pixie dust and romance and no amount of Rambo quotes will help.'

I have been holding my breath for this book. Positively Penelope was my IT book of 2023 and Luke became such a staple character for me in both Authentically Izzy and Positively Penelope...so his book was at the top of my MUST READ list of 2024.

I am not disappointed.

What I love about Luke: his sarcasm (first and foremost-I love anything that will make me laugh out loud and Luke can do this at almost every phrase that comes out of his mouth). I also love his relationship with so many women: sisters, cousin and of course Ellie! I can't even count how many lines of his I highlighted throughout my initial read through. (That's right, this book has already been read more than once this year!)

Ellie is such a fun and complex character. I love her redemption path and her step back into the Royal family. It's relatable (well maybe not the royal part, for all of us commoners.) But that sometimes we take a different path in life and we can always find our way back. I also loved the meet-cute, their second meet-cute, and literally everything that followed. She is perfect for Luke. I loved that she wasn't afraid to get her hands dirty and be an actual help in everything she was doing.

I loved the setting, I loved the small town charm feel, I loved the off-limits romance and Roman Holiday vibe, I loved the royals...you get the picture, right? I loved it all!

Such a joy to read. Highly recommend!!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Content: acknowledgement of past life indiscretions and alcohol use (no explicit details), redemption vibes, sarcasm and banter (it's all so good), a couple of religious exclamations (no OMG's), romance-kisses only.
