I want to preface this review by saying that I love the Nanny/Single Dad trope, but it's not always well done. In this case, I felt Make-Believe Proposal had so much potential to be a good one, but it fell flat for me. For starters I really struggled to connect with June and Rowland. June's ex-boyfriend Casy was an absolute dick and honestly I felt the same about Rowland. June has this whacky idea to get fake engaged, Rowland shuts her down, and then 2 seconds later is fake asking her to marry him in front of his children, with his dead wife's ring to piss off her ex-boyfriend... like there are so many things wrong with that. Also Rowland constantly kissing June and then saying we shouldn't do that, she's a person not a yo-yo. I just didn't feel the romance between the two of them, it didn't work for me. The only saving graces in this book were Caitlin and Emma (Rowland's two daughters) and Frank, the dog.
Also, the book talks so much about Rowland being this billionaire, but I also found that hard to believe because we weren't given enough for us to understand how he got to being so rich, and what his actual job was.
All in all, this wasn't for me, there is also no spice in this book whatsoever, if you're looking for it. I will say though the writing was good, but the story just wasn't for me.
*Please note: I did receive a free copy of this book in return for my honest review. *
I loved this book so much. The romance and the banter was top tier. I ate this book up. I would highly recommend!
The premise of this book was very cute, the delivery...not so much. Everything seemed rushed, there was no character building whatsoever, and honestly, I felt that I was missing the beginning and a bunch of in between. There was no build up, no explanation, just "Here we go."
The banter between June and her boss was very cringe.
Thank you to 8th Note Press and NetGalley for this advanced copy of Make Believe Proposal.

Make Believe Proposal follows the lives of June, a nanny, and Roland, June's boss. Roland helps June by fake-proposing to her in front of her ex-boyfriend and that's where the plot line seems to begin.
Given this book is only 177 pages, I wasn't expecting a lot of detail. However this book fell incredibly flat. The romance is very forced and seems to go from no feelings to "Oh my Gosh, I'm in love" in one sentence. There's honestly next to no chemistry between June and Roland.
There were a lot of unnecessary plot lines in this book, like finding a dog and Roland going on a date with Barbara. This book was all over the place and all in all, not for me.
