A cowboy billionaire, and fake romance, yes please. I love when two souls find one another in times of needed. its hard to forget when you feel lost or alone. I think these two characters found each other at the best time and came together in the best way. Also short stroys are just the best! they help you in a reading slump or when you need a quick break!

I liked the story between Gwen and Heath, I feel like it is a story that has been told but Vivi Holt did a good job with it. The characters were developed well and I found their interactions to be enjoyable. It was a fast read that I mostly enjoyed!

Make Believe Fiancé is giving billionaire cowboy meets poor waitress but make it “hallmarky”. It was a cute story, if a bit predictable. If you’re looking for a light hearted, super cute and clean romance, this is the book for you!

This sounded like a cute, clean romance, and in some ways, it was. But I didn’t love it.

The story and characters felt quite superficial, like we never really got past the surface of anything or anyone. I knew things about the characters but didn’t feel like I knew the characters themselves. Heath (30) and Gwen (mid-20s, I think?) were fine for each other, but I think only felt any real chemistry between them once. In a real world, I’d think Gwen was a complete idiot for agreeing to go off for the weekend with a guy she didn’t know. Let’s be honest: She got lucky he wasn’t a psycho. And for someone who claimed to be such a devout Christian, Heath’s idea of lying to his family about his relationship was surprising. Don’t get me wrong, he seemed like a decent guy. But lying in order to attain the CEO position is just wrong.

Any serious trouble the they encountered was resolved quickly and easily without any real fallout. The lies, Gwen’s ex-husband, Chantelle, Nana’s health, etc. Every major problem that showed up disappeared without the characters truly struggling. It’s not that I like pain and suffering, but I do prefer life’s issues to be dealt with rather than magically resolved.

I struggled with the writing, as well. It was frequently cheesy and occasionally went beyond that. Gwen’s use of “pumpkin” as a nickname for Heath grated on my nerves. Much of the dialogue felt contrived rather than flowing naturally. It’s just not my thing.

But hey, just because I didn’t love it doesn’t mean someone else’s won’t.

Note: I can’t recall anything bad.

Set in Billings, MT. Gwen is a down on her luck, divorced waitress/3rd grade teacher and Heath is an extremely wealthy acting CEO of a ranching corporation. So when Heath is ready to take over as CEO (no acting) he realizes the fact that he's not married might be holding him back and asks Gwen to be his fake fiance in exchange for paying her first month's rent on a new apartment as she has just been evicted.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book! The Goodreads rating on it left me wondering if I'd enjoy it but I really did. The characters and plot are extremely well thought out, especially for how short this book is. The last third of the book didn't feel rushed or unfinished. The characters are likable and relatable. The Montana rancher setting makes this perfect for fans of Yellowstone.

If you love a fake dating trope, you'll also like this book. There are some themes of Christianity/God throughout the book so it gives off a little bit of a Christian romance vibe but nothing preachy or intense.

A well-rounded book, I definitely recommend! I'm actually reading another Vivi Holt book next!

3.5 stars rounded to 4

It was a very quick read with a fast-paced story line. Very predictable as far as the fake dating trope and unfortunately somewhat bland. Neither of the main characters really drew me in and the writing was somewhat rudimentary. No particularly swoon-worthy moments IMO and the characters lacked any sort of spark that you'd expect when they start to fall for each other. The side characters didn't add much to the plot.

I wasn't a fan of this book. The writing seemed very amateur and unrealistic, and I didn't buy the romance plot at all. I also didn't like the MMC or his priorities. This book just wasn't for me.

I wish I could have liked this more. There unfortunately was nothing unique about this book that made it stand out to me. Now, if I was in the mood to read a classic hallmark styled book which doesn't take too much thinking to enjoy the story? This would be a good choice.

However, when the main characters personalities bore me, it's disappointing.

It is quite a predictable story, but still enjoyable to an extent.

Thank you NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Cute, a little Hallmark-y, but it was cute.

Think Pretty Woman, but meets a billionaire rancher, and she's a teacher/waitress.

Thank you NetGalley for my ARC.

This is a sweet book and I did like it. It is told in duel points of view (sometimes other's as well). It does plod a bit in places, but I did like Gwen and Heath, our main characters. Thank you NetGalley for an advanced copy.

A fun read, the story of Gwen and Heath. A fake dating / fiancé situation, but what happens when real feelings get involved?

Make Believe Fiancé by Vivi Holt is a delightful romance novel that tells the story of Gwen Alder and Heath Montgomery. Gwen is starting over after getting divorced and being left broke. She has moved to Billings, Montana, for a fresh start, but waitressing at a roadside diner is not paying the bills. Heath, on the other hand, has it all - fame, fortune, and a mega-watt smile - except for one thing: a date for his cousin's wedding.

When Gwen and Heath cross paths, Heath comes up with an idea. What if he paid Gwen to be his date for the wedding? It would be a simple business transaction, no strings attached. It would be a way for him to win his father's trust and get his parents off his back. Gwen agrees to the arrangement, and they never planned to fall in love.

Gwen is poor and plain, and Heath is wealthy and arrogant. They are complete opposites, but as they spend more time together, they start to see each other in a new light. They begin to develop feelings for each other, but they both know that their relationship is only temporary. They try to keep their feelings hidden, but sometimes, cupid has a mind of his own.

Make Believe Fiancé is a heartwarming story of two people from different worlds finding each other. The characters are well-developed, and the chemistry between Gwen and Heath is undeniable. The book is a perfect blend of romance, humor, and drama. If you're looking for a light-hearted, feel-good read, then Make Believe Fiancé is a perfect choice.

Fairly predictable rom com but it was still a good read that I enjoyed. And one that I would recommend.

It was a simple story about a boy who meets a girl, faces hurdles in the relationship, and finds his happily ever after. The narration was good but the plot was mediocre. Though Heath's parents pushed him to get married and "settle down", the explanation and their bonding with their sons were not explored fully. Same is the case with Gwen and her ex-husband. The plot looked shallow in some places. Going with a 2 star.

A quick fun happy ever after! She needs money, he needs a fiancé! They make a deal but, it’s more than a business agreement! This fake love becomes real!
