What a cute and funny first volume! I got a lot of Ouran vibes from this volume for some reason (with a little In the Clear Moonlit Dusk, based on the characters looks and how the rest of the school loves them). There isn't much of a plot in this volume. Mostly smaller chapters about Haruma Ichinose falling harder and harder for the oblivious Yuki Mogami. The art in this volume is really cute as well!

A very enjoyable manga. Haruma Ichinose, is a popular high schooler who can have any girl or guy that he wants. He is so used to being the person people swoon over until he meets Yuki Mogami.

Yuki is also popular. She is tall, and beautiful and can have any girl or guy she wants and everyone swoons over her, including Haruma, but she doesn’t notice. She just wants to be friends with everyone.

And so Haruma realises that he is going to have to work to attract her attention and get a date. But suddenly he is in a situation that he hasn’t had to navigate before and despite the help of friends and teachers, will he be able to get the girl he is falling for, especially with all the competition.

This is a heartwarming manga story, with excellent graphics and an amusing storyline. I enjoyed reading it.

This was a unique story for the genre! I think it’s really going to capture readers’ interest and curiosity. The artwork was solid and high quality. If you’re looking for something sweet and comedic, definitely consider giving this manga a try.

Review:

I adore stories that can play with tropes and have fun. So naturally, I fell in love with She's My Knight Vol. 1. This novel takes many classic shojo elements (heroines/knights/etc) and turns them into a blast and a half.

Yuki Mogami is very much the classic prince archetype, and she finds it baffling. Her bafflement is so endearing and honest; I loved it. It counters perfectly to Haruma's frustration with his heroine role.

She's My Knight Vol. 1 is a funny start to a series, one that I fully intend to follow through on (I already pre-ordered volume 2!). I love the character balance, storytelling style, and tongue-in-cheek humor.

The story revolves around Haruma Ichinose, who's been popular since forever. The only person to have bested him is Yuki Mogami. A lot of shenanigans ensure as Ichinose develops a crush on Mogami but is quite the tsundere.

The pacing is rather fast and it gives off an episodic feel but I think that's okay for the romance-comedy genre.
Overall, I really enjoyed reading this story.

I haven't read a manga that made me laugh that much or that hard in a long while. The main characters are adorable and even the secondary ones are as well. It isn't a serious story so if you need something light I def suggest this one!

Let’s be real: tomboys are the best. We’ve all known this since we first saw Sigourney Weaver walking around in her underwear in 1978’s Alien. In fact, series like Ouran High School Host Club, Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun, and Tomo-chan is a Girl! have all proven that no woman beats a tomboy. Saisou’s She’s My Knight continues on with that fact, with a rom-com that shows why a little androgyny makes for some good adorability.

She’s My Knight follows Haruma Ichinose, a high schooler blessed with good looks and charms. However, a rival has entered is foray: Yuki Mogami, a woman with princely manners and style. All of the women swoon over Yuki, a sight that fills Haruma with jealousy. That is, until Yuki checks him for a fever by touching foreheads. Now, no matter what he may try to think or say, Haruma has to deal with a big realization: he’s smitten by Yuki!

Haruma can deny it all he likes, but the fact keeps smacking him in the heart and feels. He tries his best to play cool, but every moment they touch, graze, or accidentally hold one another, Haruma can’t stop feeling warm and fuzzy for Yuki. With a little advice (and jabs) from his friend Miyoshi, Haruma sets out to ask Yuki out on a proper date to tell her how she feels. Alas, Yuki’s princely ways comes with a defect: she’s kind of an airhead to love and emotions.

Much of She’s My Knight goes the “when will they?”route that many shojo rom-coms go. Every time Haruma takes a step forward to make some progress, Yuki or some other force pushes said progress back to that space. From movie meetups and childhood friend invasions to class plays and even a bit shojo manga overdosing, the plan to woo Yuki goes up in smoke. They even get locked in a gym storage shed at school, where Haruma comforts Yuki when thunder & lightning strikes. (Seriously, what is it with tomboys and a fear of dark & stormy weather?!)

But despite showcasing a lot of tropes that are similar to other manga, Saisou’s narrative has enough sweetness and comedic elements to make it a good read. It’s already clear that Yuki may have some sort of attachment to Haruma, which will hopefully make a love confession go down easier when the time comes. (Perhaps her “dumbness” is just a protective wall to make sure her feelings don’t get hurt either.) Saisou’s art also helps to emphasize the sweetness and heart of the show, with there being a good mixture of shojo and seinen styles in the panels.

Nevertheless, it can be victim to some of those old tropes. Love confessions that transform into “best bud” declarations, shopping trips that reveal a tomboy’s femininity, and even jealous classmates kidnapping our main protagonist. However, with the latter, there’s a tint of originality when it’s revealed that both they and Harumi are legit siblings-in-arms when it comes to their feelings for Yuki. In that instance, a little credit should be given to Saisou for thinking a little bit outside the box.

There’s a balance between the same old song and a brand new melody in She’s My Knight. Fortunately, even some of the more familiar territory has enough humor and sweetness to keep on reading through. Saisou’s manga is yet another feather to place in every tomboy’s cap, as it once again proves why they’re the best kind of woman. Even when it suffers from that ole shojo manga syndrome, She’s My Knight finds a way to win the heart of its readers, even if they have trouble admitting they’ve been swooned over by it.

Harume Ichinose is incredibly popular and suave, unless he's interacting with Yuki Mogami, a girl in his class that's taller than him. He is NOT in love with her and he will prove it. The was a fine first volume. I didn't connect with any of the characters. Ichinose is very. . . hyper? Yuki feels sort of like an empty character. The plot itself feels episodic, though it isn't for the most part.

This story was okay. I didn’t really like the main character though. He was very hard to relate to. I think this just wasn’t meant for me personally!!

She's My Knight vol. 1 by Saisou is delightfully adorable, comedic, and fast-paced. This manga will really warm the hearts of those who enjoyed the banter, comedy, and height gap from Lovely Complex but enjoy the speed of the story from House Husband.

I admit the speed and the place that this story starts aren't your typical HS romance manga, but I think I really enjoyed the switch-up, and the characters are so adorable that they make the story.

It sounds like I'm negative about this, but I TRULY think you should pick up this manga; it's cozy and will make you laugh, and that is a huge win in my book, and while it does echo tropes we've seen, it does it in a new way that will keep you on your toes. Like, have a bad day? Need a cozy romance? Need a romantic comedy? THIS IS IT!

There are no words to describe how perfect this volume is!!! It is a beautiful story of blooming love between characters. The story has all the classic shojo tropes (beach, school play, movie theatre) and they are executed perfectly!

I’m really loving the reversed gender roles, in this story we have a tsundere male lead with a Prince Charming female love interest and the relationship between the two is simply magical!

The story is great, it had me hooked from the first page! The art is beautiful and the side characters are really funny as well (minus the teacher, he has a weird vibe). I cannot wait to read more of this series! Will definitely start collecting this series!

Really really enjoy this manga volume. I'm nor gonna lie, I'm a little surprised. At first I wasn't really into the story but then I was completely immersed in it. The characters are cute, the drawing is pretty good too and I finished it wanting to know what's next.

She's My Knight (Volume 1) by Saisou is a manga style graphic novel. Popular boy secretly falls for princely girl in this gleeful borderline-parody of high school shojo manga . Haruma Ichinose, 17, has been popular since he was born. So popular, in fact, that he figured no one could even come close, until he met Yuki Mogami. She's tall, cool, collected, and totally makes him crazy. He may just be in love. But can he deal with falling for someone even more dashing than himself?

She's My Knight is a fun tongue in cheek story that pokes fun at so many common tropes and storylines. The parody and humor is well done and balances well within the story. The only problem I had was that I feel like a read this story before- parody aspects and all- and wonder if it is just that similar to something that has already been done just as well or if I read this manga in a different format or edition at some point. In any rate, the manga does well in achieving its goal of telling a fun story while poking fun at the genre at the same time.

“She’s My Knight” is the epitome of your typical awkward high school romance with one difference, the roles are gender swapped! The tall, handsome, completely clueless girl with the clumsy, awkward, pretty boy!
Haruma Ichinose has always been the most handsome student, until Yuki Mogami shows up! She is beautiful but tall and boyish so all of the girls that used to fawn over Ichinose are now falling for Mogami! And to his surprise, he falls for her too! Now he just has to figure out the nerve to tell her how he feels.
This novel is hilarious and will have you either laughing or feeling embarrassed at the antics the characters get up to!
I can’t wait to read the next one!

Ichinose is popular and good looking and he knows it. Mogami is the princely type and it seems Ichinose is falling for her but isn't sure how to let her know his feelings.

If you are looking for light and fluffy reads then you're going to want to check this one out. This was so funny and corny and I really enjoyed this. It even made fun of itself with the popular romance tropes out there. Like I couldn't couldn't help but laugh to myself a couple of times while reading this. really liked seeing the little moments between the two, seeing how they really felt and was trying to hide it. It was entertaining how self conscious he was liking a girl who was taller then him and seeing the roles kinda reversing between the two where Ichinose kept landing in the role of being more feminine and Mogami swooping in to help. Overall I really enjoyed this cutesy book and look forward to seeing more in the future.

tropes: gender roles swapped, height difference, high school shojo manga parody

If you are looking for a funny gender role-swapped parody of high school shojo manga, then She's My Knight, Vol.1 by Saisou is a great read.

Haruma Ichinose has always been popular, although he might have a rival. Yuki Mogami is just as charming as Ichinose, and it makes him crazy. Ichinose gets tongue-tied, loses his charm around her, and maybe falls in love with the dashing young woman himself.

This book was perfect for bringing me out of my reading slump. I laughed so much at the ridiculous situations the main characters got themselves into. Ichinose and Mogami are such fun characters to read about. Their attempts at communicating are mainly rendered by them flustering each other so much that the other can not speak.

I am looking forward to the next volume and seeing what antics Ichinose and Mogami get into next. As well as continuing to see their romance develop.

The illustrations and plotline was equally good. The author has definitely penn down a beautiful and cute story while the illustrator has presented beautiful drawings so the unlimite reading experience of this volume of the manga was amazing.

This is perfect for those who like Monthly Girls Nozaki-Kun and In the Clear Moonlit Dusk. A genuinely funny story about the Prince of the school and the princely girl he falls for.

Our main character is Ichinose, an attractive and popular boy who has been sought after from a young age. His only competition is fellow classmate Mogami: a tall, attractive and charming girl that despite his best interest, he can’t help but fall for.

The story follows Ichinose as he grapples with his feelings for the prince of the school and all of the shenanigans that ensue because of that. A collection of satirical takes on traditional shojo tropes that will leave you laughing with every turn of the page.

She’s my Knight doesn’t take itself too seriously and I think that’s one of its biggest strengths. The characters are likeable, the art is pretty and it’s a feel good read that’s great for turning off your brain and just enjoying your time.

An extremely cute manga.The art style is really nice. The characters are very likeable and make this an easy read. The protagonist is quite funny, trying desperately to be charming in the eyes of his romantic interest, often ending up being saved by her instead.

There’s not an overarching plot, so if that’s something you want, you won’t find it here. It’s very much a slice of life romantic comedy I’m really looking forward to the next one

This story was a refreshing take on the Shono style stories. Gender-swapping the roles the characters normally have. Where the girl was this beautiful heroic character who was always helping people and the boy who wanted to be seen as cool kept ending up being the heroine getting saved by the girl.

This perspective added humor to the narrative and made it very enjoyable to read. Making me laugh a lot as the inner and outer dialogue of the character were cute and funny. Even the side characters made you giggle.

The art was also very well drawn.
