Miss Jane Jacobson has perfected the art of being a wallflower. As the second daughter of a viscount she has entry to all of the ton’s functions but no one pays her the least bit of attention. A less clever miss might be offended, but not Jane. She has weaponized her wallflower status in the service of the Crown. But someone makes a critical mistake and suddenly Jane is face to face with the rebellious Duke of Hawkridge.
This was supposed to be Roland’s last mission for the Crown before he retires to his long-neglected dukedom. Then he is tripped up by a wily debutante with a taste for danger. The Crown’s solution? That the seasoned scoundrel and ingénue Lady Knight marry & work together to complete their mission.
The fourth book in the series & another well written romance. I really liked both Roland & Jane, he was considerably older than her but in many ways let her be the instigator. The characters have depth & the pace is good. I loved their journey to a HEA, which was fun & entertaining
My review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
I really enjoyed the series and felt that this was a wonderful conclusion to the series. The characters
were believable and really had to work their way through their feeling for each other. Even the bird was a great diversion to the problems they were dealing with. Thanks for a great read and series.
The romance between Jane and Roland was equally sweet and steamy with plenty of humor sprinkled throughout. There was some action, danger and drama as well which I am absolutely here for.
I can't wait to continue the series.
What a great ending to this series. I think my favorite part was the epilogue. I will preference this by saying I don't love age gap romances but this one was didn't bother me cause it wasn't one where they knew each other when she was a child. I liked that he was not rake at this particular time even if he had been in the past and that he waited for her initiate the intimacy of their relationship. The scene with his bird and when he is drunk would have made me so mad if I was Jane but i was chuckling as an outsider. My favorite in this series are still the second and third book. I can't wait to read Cara Maxwell's next series. Thank you NetGalley for the access to the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
