love the Guncle and the kids, happy to read this 2nd book to see how everyone has come along, especially the kids and i especially love that this is a "vacation" type book but still has the signature warmth of guncle! this book, as with the 1st one will be an amazing tv series!

Not as engaging as the first novel, and unsure it was really needed -- Overall, it was alright, but the shortness of the review should really indicate how little I remember of this book.

The Guncle is one of my favorite series! It seriously has it all: humor, wit, heart, banter, a fun setting, charm, sarcasm and a cute cover. I must admit although I enjoyed the Guncle Abroad, I didn't enjoy it as much as the first book. It was nice to have a follow up adventure from Patrick, Maisie, and Grant, but I didn't feel as much of a connection as in the Guncle. The setting however, introduction of new characters and charm and connection was fantastic. I will always pick up this series, I feel like they are family every time I come back to them.

This sequel to the Guncle was definitely fun, it was nice to spend time with all the characters again and I enjoyed the setting too! It didn't have the same charm as the first one, mostly because there is so much novelty in the first one. But it was definitely still worth the read.

The Guncle Abroad by Steven Rowley is a hilarious, heartwarming adventure packed with witty banter and unexpected moments of tenderness. Rowley’s signature charm shines as we follow Guncle Patrick navigating cultural mishaps and family drama with his usual flair. It’s a perfect mix of laugh-out-loud fun and heartfelt feels. Four stars and a big hug for this one!

I am a big fan of Steven Rowley, and I loved The Guncle, but this story fell a little flat for me. Rowley is very good at finding humor in some of the most difficult circumstances, but the difficulties in this book seemed kind of contrived to me. I still love the characters, but most of them were less charming in this book.

Thank you NetGalley and PENGUIN GROUP Putnam for the E-ARC.

This was a perfect continuation to Guncle! Seeing the growth and development of the characters 5 years after the first book brought just as much love and sadness.
The twist of the ending was beautiful and did the characters justice in how they processed their feelings on the idea of the kids father remarrying. The one thing I would say I hated was the unnecessary jealously between Patrick and Palmina, but loved how the author expressed it towards the end.

The Guncle Abroad is a fun story about love, love after grief and family. From the first page, it's interesting, captivating, heartfelt, funny, and entertaining.

I am sorry for the inconvenience but I don’t have the time to read this anymore and have lost interest in the concept. I believe that it would benefit your book more if I did not skim your book and write a rushed review. Again, I am sorry for the inconvenience.

It was so fun to have a return visit with this cast of characters.

The author performs the audio and I highly recommend.

Our Gup Patrick is back we come in 5 years later and here to save the day. Maisie and Grant's Dad Greg (Patrick's brother) is about to get married to Italian Royalty.

While not as moving and emotional as the first book it still took us on a journey of how we all love different.

3.75 stars rounded up

Patrick, Maisie, and Grant are such squad goals (are we still using that term?). I loved going along on their adventure to Italy and beyond in The Guncle Abroad. This is one of those books that brings the laughs AND tears.

A huge thank you to Netgalley, Steven Rowley, and PENGUIN GROUP Putnam | G.P. Putnam's Sons for the advanced copy in exchange for my review.

The Guncle is one of my all time favorite books and this was very good also. Not as good as the first but entertaining and very fun to listen to Stephen narrate. Guncle Rules rule! Very fun read. Thanks to NetGalley and Stephen Rowley for the Advanced Reading Copy.

The Guncle Abroad is a charming sequel that brings readers more of the wit, heart, and lovable chaos of Patrick, everyone's favorite "Guncle." This time, Patrick takes his niece and nephew on a European adventure full of humor, heartfelt moments, and life lessons.
Steven Rowley does laugh-out-loud humor with touching reflections on family, healing, and the bonds that hold us together. It’s a feel-good, entertaining story that fans of the first book—and new readers alike—will thoroughly enjoy.

Patrick (GUP) is back but this time he’s guiding his niece and nephew on what is love on a whirlwind trip through Europe. Their dad is getting remarried and the kids are not happy; they’ve enlisted Patrick to stop the wedding.

What I liked: This book had me laughing one second and crying the next. The letter Sarah wrote to her husband’s future wife was soooo sad.

What didn’t work for me: I felt like some of the lessons were a little forced or went on too long.

On me, but I could not remember how The Guncle ended so I felt a little behind coming into this one.

Who should read it: You loved the first book. You want a book that tugs at your heart strings but is also funny and ultimately a happy ending.

Can I give Steven Rowley a hug for these fun, cozy, and heartwarming reads? I loved The Guncle, and share it as a recommendation all the time. This sequel was nearly just as good. Steven Rowley has a way of addressing challenging and deep issues in a way that connects with you, draws you in, and changes you.
Thank you to the author, Penguin Group Putnam, and NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

Back with Patrick and the kids but this time we're abroad! I enjoyed this book a little less than the first one, but it still had me laughing and smiling and crying. I love seeing the relationship Patrick has built with the kids and enjoyed seeing the kids a bit more grown up. Overall, a really heartwarming read.

Thank you Netgalley for the chance to read Guncle Abroad.
What a delight Patrick O'Hara is! This was such a fun reunion with everyone's favorite Guncle. I loved the family dynamics and drama and friendly competition present in this book. And Patrick's connection to the kids is so lovable.
What a fun read this was.

I loved The Guncle, and thought the Guncle Abroad was just fine as an add-on to the story. If someone hasn't read The Guncle already, they may not enjoy The Guncle Abroad. It was funny and heartfelt, and I think it does a good job of acknowledging biases and painting a picture of what it's like to be a family. I gave this book a three-star rating because I enjoyed it, but I wouldn't read it again or recommend it to a friend.

Patrick O’Hara bonded with his young niece and nephew in the first book of this series. They had recently lost their mother, and he was entrusted with their care while their father went to rehab. In this second book, it is 5 years later and Patrick is again put in charge of the children as their father prepares for his wedding to an Italian heiress.

I thought that the first book had a certain charm, in a sit-com sort of way. This book lacked the charm and was more like a Lifetime movie. It was completely predictable. I also found Patrick annoying - he is always “on”. Maybe the excuse for that is that he is an actor, but he would really get on my nerves if I had to spend any time with him. The book had a perfectly good fairytale ending, but then added several unnecessary chapters. I finished this book, but I’m definitely not looking forward to a third book. The author can do so much better. Read “The Editor”.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher.
