Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Select for the audiobook copy!

This book was maybe a bit too bizarre for me. I wanted to like it but with the bizarre elements and the characters being a bit too unlikable for me, it just did not work out. I would still recommend it if you like wacky Christmas romances.

While I really tried, I just didn’t find myself engaged in this story. I think it just wasn’t for me, but I think many will enjoy.

A weirdly funny, magical love story for the holidays. Loved the characters (main and supporting), the town seems like a place anyone would love to visit, and the bizarre spirits "helping" people were goofy and funny. I didn't really feel the chemistry between West and Maisie at first, so it took a little while for me to really get into this.

So this was super cute and I’m so glad I requested it. The narrators did a great job with it and I look forward to more books in the series.

This book was a wonderful holiday story! I was completely entranced by the setting of Loren Brae, especially set in the winter. Maisie and West were both great characters to follow throughout the alternate points of view story. The elderly book club had me laughing so much with their antics and their conversations! Holidays always feel magical, and Tricia O'Malley brought that to life with the magic sprinkled into this story. I listened to the audio version of this story and it brought it to life! I felt as I was walking along through Loren Brae alongside Maisie and West. I also realize this book is part of a series, but I haven't read the other books and felt that it worked great as a stand alone.
I do make a plan to revisit the others in the series. Thank you to Dreamscape Select for an advanced audio copy! All thoughts and opinions are my own!

This book was such a cute Christmas romance. I also couldn’t say no to the ghostly coo. Not only was it a cozy read, but it also made me giggle.

Ended up DNFing.

The narrators had great voices and I think did a good job. I just didn't get into the story. I didn't find the story engaging and after pausing it, I just never came back to finish the story.

It's a 'me' thing. and that's okay! I hope others enjoy the story!

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC Audio!
This was a cute and super sweet holiday rom-com. The male and female narrators were amazing and did a wonderful job with the Scottish accents. This book had it all, ghosts, insta-love, a little spice, hilarious side characters, and a book club. What more could you want in a holiday rom-com! This is part of a series but can be read as a stand-alone.

Summary: Maisie Barron is from the small-town of Loren Brae. She works and lives above her bookstore. Maisie is helping with the upcoming Christmas Book Festival. The last thing she expected was American, Weston Smith.
Weston needed a break and decided to travel to Loren Brae, Scotland. He never expected to meet Maisie, the woman of his dream. A group of elderly book club member help him woo Maisie.

My thoughts: I loved A Kilt of Christmas. This was an absolutely an enjoyable listen that had me laughing the whole time. I liked Maisie and Weston's characters and loved the elderly ladies. They had me laughing every time they were on the page.
Amy Landon and Will Watt did such a good job with the narrations. I plan to read more from O'Malley and listen to other audiobooks narrated by Landon and Watt.
I plan to order a physical copy of A Kilt for Christmas.

This book wasn't for me. I didn't like the insta-love. Sometimes it works and other times it doesn't. I think I wasn't into it because I never felt the chemistry between the characters.

A romance based in Scotland at Christmastime? Sign me all the way up! This was a really cute story with all it's magical elements- it warmed my heart and made me happy. That is what I want in a book.

I absolutely love Tricia O'Malley books, and a Kilt for Christmas is no exception. This was a one sitting listen for me.

Maisie Barron is a from a small town where nothing new ever happens. On impulse, she makes a wish at the standing stones outside Loren Brae. The results are unexpected, to say the least, and very nearly catastrophic.

Weston Smith is a burnt-out professor from California. At the suggestion of an old friend, he's in Loren Brae for the Christmas Book Festival. As an added bonus, there's an adorable ghost Highland "coo", along with a kitchen Brownie.

This title is light and entertaining, and I would highly recommend it to all romance lovers.

In the interest of full disclosure, I received a free digital audio copy of this title from Net Galley.

Cute holiday book that will warm hearts on even the coldest December days

Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This cute (slightly supernatural) Christmas romance follows an aspiring Scottish writer and an English professor on vacation from LA falling for each other. Also featuring: a goofy highland cow ghost, a brownie butler, and a Christmas wish for snow gone very wrong. I didn't love the insta-romance on West's side, but the relationship itself progressed a bit more slowly since Maisie was less sure at first. The supernatural elements also felt a bit thrown in and secondary. I wish they'd been more incorporated throughout, because they were some of my favorite parts. Nonetheless, a cute, Scottish holiday romance.

OVERALL REVIEW & RATING: 4 STARS

Another outstanding #BingeListen along with a #New2Me author!

Back in mid-December (2023), Dreamscape Select granted me an ALC of A Kilt for Christmas via NetGalley and as one does (me, I’m the *one* lol) I went on the hunt for the first 2 audios in the series. Everand, formally Scribd, came thru for the #win!!

Soooooo, not only did I get to enjoy a new-to-me author, but a series from the beginning and in my favorite format 🎧🎧. *throws confetti* 🎉

NOTE: I am not a frequent reader of stories in the genre and/or with tropes that are outside the realm of possibility, but something told this would be light on the fantasy, so I went for it. #winning :)

PERFORMANCE REVIEW & RATING: 4 STARS

Will Watt is a narrator that falls under the category of speedy for me and his brough does not help LOL however, he's also a narrator that I’ve already gotten used to from previous listens so I knew to pay attention and concentrate until I got lost in the story and had no choice but to concentrate. Fell me? He’s an adjustment for sure but also very versatile and excellent narrator all around.

Amy London was new-to-me with this series and I can't really find no fault in her narration of any of the stories :)

STORY REVIEW & RATING: 4 STARS

By the time I hit A Kilt for Christmas, I was entranced by the magic. This story was a bit more magical than the first 2 but I think that had everything to do with the Christmas setting. It’s a sweet, low angst, feelgood, love-at-first-sight, slow burn story that will put a huge smile on your face if you allow it! *wink* <<< That means that yes, you have to suspend a little reality and go with the flow LOL but if I can do it, anyone can, and it’s worth it for this story!

Thank you NetGalley for the ALC of a Kilt for Christmas! I enjoyed this magical and short Christmas tale set in Scotland. I loved that it features an enchanted town and the author really made a point to introduce and give a lot of the towns people backstories. It made me want to visit this town and get snowed in at their castle and sing karaoke all night. The audiobook is dual casted and excellent - I thought the narrators did a fantastic job. Overall the conflict of the story wasn’t my favorite and fell a little flat but I really liked both of the main characters and enjoyed listening to West court Maisie.

🎧Im here for the small town Scottish setting. The town is super sweet and the story has a great premise. Overall it was cute and fun but fell a little short in depth.

🔔Content notes: some on page spice, mild language

This story revolves around West, a professor from California who decides to spend Christmas in the Scotland, and Maisie, a local of the small town who has dreams of being a writer. Attraction builds between them but what kind of relationship could they possibly have when West is set to return home in such a short amount of time. After an ill advised wish on the standing stones leads to the biggest snowstorm of the century the pair work together to help the town and the cast of quirky characters within it. West has known from the start that Maisie is the one for him and as they spend more time together it seems like she might just believe that as well. When I requested this audiobook I didn't realize it was part of a series, so, I am excited to go back and read the other books!
