Weston is burned out. He needs a vacation. So, he heads off to a book festival in the small town of Loren Brae, Scotland. Weston never expected to find the woman of his dreams. The one he has been waiting for his whole life. But he sure does and if may take a magic coo to win her over.
This is a cute romance with a castle, snow and the Scottish highlands, and of course, a man in a kilt! Then there is a ghost coo,(Scottish for cow!) but let’s not forget the wonderful characters. I loved West. He fell hook line and sinker for Maisie. Maisie feels the attraction, oh she definitely feels it. But she is a fighter. However, when she realizes her wish on the standing stones has caused the snowstorm of the century, she knows she needs West to help her stop it.
The narrators, Amy Landon and Will Watt are great! I love a good tag team!

I received this novel from the publisher for a honest review.

A Kilt for Christmas by Tricia O’Malley
The Enchanted Highlands series #3. Alternating POV. Can be read as a stand-alone.
From California, West is used to the sun and not rainy days of Loren Brae, Scotland.
He’s there for vacation and a book fest. Supposedly, the pub was just a short walk but West shivered just thinking of it.
A gaggle of elderly book club members befriend West and then help him “get the girl”.
Maisie wishes for a snowy Christmas on the standing stones outside Loren Brae. The snowiest ever. Little does she know, the magick of the stones can make her wish turn into a catastrophic event that threatens the Christmas Book Festival.
🎧 I listened to an audiobook narrated by Amy Landon and William Watt. The two have narrated the full series to date. Being from Scotland, Maisie has a heavy Scottish accent which was fun to listen to for this Midwest U.S. city person, but meant I had to slow the playback considerably to understand the conversation. The character Maisie also talks even faster when excited, scared or upset and both narrators executed that flawlessly. The banter of the conversation made it worth slowing down to enjoy the spikes and volleys. The antagonizing banter between Maisie and West during the negotiations of playing trivia and then the game were laughably chuckle worthy.
And while the hero ghost coo (cow) doesn’t talk, it does bark or whatever cows in Scotland do, and including it in the narrative was comedic and playful.
I loved this romantic comedy for the humor, spice and interfering book club ladies. The audio made the whole experience interactive and alive.
I received a copy of this from NetGalley and the publisher Dreamscape Select. I will recommend this to bookclubs and anyone that loves a good romcom.

I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the audio version. I will say I think this book in just my opinion would be better reading in in print form than the audio version. I did not really care for the narrator. The story itself was okay. It was cute rom com. I just didn't really connect with any of the characters. If you are looking for a cute romcom that takes place during Christmas than you will like this novel.

This was really cute and sweet for Christmas time! I really enjoyed the characters and it was such a fun read! The main characters were really unique and gave so much heart to this story! overall, a definite must read for this time of year!

This was cute, but wasn’t for me. I think this may be a better read, for me, as an ebook or physical read because I often lost track of where the story was going through the narration. I will say, I enjoyed the holiday vibes it was giving, definitely would like to try reading this in a different format.

This was such a fun read. Romance plus magic plus great narration is a recipe for a great read. Definitely recommending!

Oof. the insta-love in this story killed it for me. i usually don't mind it but they way the mmc is so head over heels and obsessively in love with the fmc was cringey. i tried not to let it bother me, but how he was like "this is the girl of my dreams" from one kiss was insane. I also then found myself not interested in the story or the characters. things just fell really flat here for me.

I really enjoyed this read.. so much so that I am looking to read more books from this author. I had not previously read anything in this series and it was a pleasant surprise to learn there were magic elements along with a cute love story.

I’m just being honest when I say that this audiobook was just a little too cheesy for me lol. It was cute, just very predictable

Book: 3 stars
Audio: 4.5 stars
Cute, Christmas, Scotland, quick read, small town, not too much drama, instalove
This was a cute and quick Christmas read. Definitely giving hallmark small town movie vibes. The book follows West and Maisie through different obstacles one can only find in a small town. West, Maisie, and the people from Loren Brae were all so charismatic and lovable. The romance was more of an instalove situation. I typically prefer more drama and more of a build up to the romance. There wasn’t much drama in this book. Which is great if that’s what you’re looking for! I do wish there was a bit more of an explanation on the magic system within the book. I would forget that there was a magical element and would be surprised when things like a unicorn showed up. Other than that this is a perfect small town, low drama, Scottish Christmas read!
I was able to listen the audiobook ARC thanks to Netgalley, Dreamscape Select, and Lovewrite Publishing. I thought having two different narrators was great! Both narrators did great with portraying the opposite accent. There were a few times that the male audiobook narrator delivered certain lines with an intonation I wasn’t a fan of. Almost sounded a bit arrogant. Other than that the audiobook flowed well and was entertaining!
He did in fact receive a kilt for Christmas.

Thank you to Netgalley for the ALC of the book!
This is my second book from Trisha, and it has just solidified I need to read more from her!! The magical aspect is just the icing on the cake of an already amazing story.
A ghost hairy coo can interfere with my life any day!
Add in the book b*tches and it's a party!
The audio is fantastic 👏

A Kilt for Christmas AUDIO by Tricia O’Malley is a cute romantic comedy taking place in Scotland, in a place called Loren Brae. Maisie Baron is visiting her friend, Agnes, to help with the book festival that is coming up. Weston Smith teaches literature a college in California. He is worn out between his job and his roommates. Thankfully when he returns he will be moving into a place of his own. He and his friend, Matt, have come to recharge. West has rented a small cottage on the outskirts of town. He quickly discovers that their definition of walking distance and his is somewhat divergent. Early in his stay he is adopted by four older woman whose group goes by the moniker, Book Bitches. He meets Maisie and when he kisses her he knows he has found his soulmate. She is a little slower to acquiesce. The town is known for its standing stones and the superstition that a wish made there will come true as well as other magical things. Maisie wishes for snow and before long they are in the middle of a hundred-years blizzard. The Book Bitches need to be rescued, Maisie finds a way to reverse her wish, and she begins to see things West’s way.
This is a very cute listen. It is read by Amy Landon and Will Watt. Amy uses a Scottish accent which became intelligible very quickly and lent an air of legitimacy to the story. It is a romance so everyone knows they will live happily ever after. The narrators so a terrific job of maintaining the integrity of the story and have us believing it.
This was a well done rom-com. There was a nice mix of romance, setting, and friends. There was a thin plot, typical of a romance, but enough to keep the listener listening. I truly enjoyed this listen.
I was invited to listen to A Kilt for Christmas by Dreamscape Select through Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #Netgalley #DreamscapeSelect #TriciaOMalley #AmyLandon #Will Watt #AKiltForChristmas

I really enjoyed the previous two Tricia O'Malley Enchanted Highlands books I'd listened to (it is a series, but can be read as stand-alones), but this one not as much. It is a cute, quick holiday read but I just didn't connect with it perhaps because of the narration. I had trouble with playback speed because I found the female to read rather fast especially with her accented parts, and the male narrator to be slow.
Thank you to Dreamscape Select, Lovewrite Publishing and NetGalley for this ALC

this story was definitely not for me. I couldn't care less about the characters and their personality and I'm also not a huge fan of insta-love. I felt like the chapters were a collection of two people playing board games and reciting history facts.

Thank you netgalley for the audiobook !!!
This was such a cute and fun quick read (listening) for the holiday season! This was my first read from Tricia and I really enjoyed it. It gave all the good, warm, Hallmark, Christmas feels!
🎄 Hallmark Vibes

considering the length of this book, it was just fun and silly, no plot, just vibes, kind of thing. thank the gods I didn't have to endure YET another Scottish man (read 2 books with those these past months and they were very cringe each time). perfect quick read for the Christmas time. 3 stars

“I like the smut books” Same Ester, same 💀
I adored the little book club (The Book Bitches). Retirement goals, move to Scotland, and join a smut filled book club that’s always meddling in everyone’s business. 🤌🏻 Also, their shirts! I need them all lol.
“I just think it’s wild that one hundred different people could read the same story and all see it differently in their heads. This vision plays out in their mind, spun together from the words a storyteller crafts, and yet, if done well, they’ll all walk away feeling similar emotions about the story. It’s magic, really, this sharing of a world with another, and I think books just create this community among people that allows you to connect. It’s really beautiful.” 🥺 I loved this quote so much. It articulates how I feel about books beautifully.
Con’s: it took me longer than I’d like to admit to figure out she was saying “coo” as in “cow” with the accent lol. But, that was the only problem (not even a problem really) I had with the audio.

I loved the vibe and characters of this book! The "Book Bitches", the setting, the bookish theme of everything. The romance was fun and believable. The snow storm is a fun trope. But I ended up DNFing at almost 75% of the way through because there was just too much magic for me.
Thanks to Netgalley for the advanced copy to read!

A Kilt for Christmas is Tricia O’Malley’s third full-length book in her Enchanted Highlands series. Each book features an American having a romance in Loren Brae, Scotland. While the books are connected, they can be read as stand-alones.
Maisie Barron lives in small-town Loren Brae, Scotland. She is busy helping her best friend and cousin prepare for the upcoming Christmas Book Festival, which is the town’s largest event. After competing in a weekly trivia contest at a local pub, she goes to the standing stones to make a Christmas wish. It’s a local legend that wishes made at the standing stones during Christmas come true. Unfortunately her wish for a large snowfall threatens the book festival.
Weston Smith is a burned-out college professor from California who desperately needs a break from his roommates’ relationship drama. He decides to spend his Christmas break in Loren Brae, Scotland, to recharge his batteries. The last thing he expects is to find the woman he’s been waiting his whole life for at a trivia contest in a local pub. Afterwards he follows her to the standing stones and makes his own Christmas wish. Then they see a ghost cow and realize that magic is in the air.
West and Maisie soon find themselves snowed in together in the snowstorm of the century. They fall in love quickly and work to save both the town and the book festival.
A Kilt for Christmas is like a Scottish Hallmark movie, complete with supernatural effects. No scary ghosts, just ghost Highland cows “coos” and dogs wearing kilts. The insta-love wasn’t for me, but it’s a funny Christmas love story with a unique plot.
I enjoyed listening to A Kilt for Christmas. The narrators, Amy Landon and Will Watt, did an outstanding job with their accents. My only criticism is that Ms. Landon spoke so fast in her accented voice that I sometimes had trouble understanding her. Mr. Watt’s narration was at the perfect tempo.
I received an advance review copy (ARC) from NetGalley and Dreamscape Select for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This was a cute and festive audiobook that was fun to listen to! The author is able to weave threads of folklore and fantasy into a seemingly typical romance novel which was a surprising feature. I think if I had read the other books initially the supernatural elements might not have taken me aback, though anytime a highland coo is involved I'm in!
