I want to preface by saying that this was the first ever audiobook I've listened to and I was blow away! For starters, the story was riveting, something only amplified by the chosen narrators. I absolutely love the fact that this book had more than one narrator, I didn't even know they did such a thing! The story itself kept me so engaged despite the changes in certain characters' relationships :'{. I can't say that it was something I saw coming or looked forward to happening, but it made sense in the story nonetheless. If you love strong angst as I do, then you will LOVE this book and love the narration even more. I will definitely be picking up book 4 on audiobook when it is released!!

“Fate Calls the Elf Queen” J. M. Kearl
Layala awakens the Black Mage, Hel, who claims she is a goddess and his wife. Layala is conflicted because she loves the Elf King Thane. She fights remembering her past until it threatens everyone she loves. In order to regain her memories, she needs Hel, the man she hates the most in the world. Her temptation to Hel and Thane complicates her emotions.
This was a really good book. It’s the third of the series and is even better than the first two. I’m not a fan of time jumps but it was done well in the book. I loved the love triangle going on and cannot wait to see how that goes in the next book. It is very sexy and steamy, perfect if you like mature dark romance Fae books. I gave it a 4 out of 5 stars.

Thank you NetGalley, J.M. Kearl, and Dreamscape Select, House Valor Books Inc., for the opportunity to listen and review Fate Calls the Elf Queen. Also, a shout out to the narrators, Bridget Bordeaux and Jake Bordeaux, for another amazing narration to this series.
Wow! I loved this book so much! Each book in this series just keeps getting better and better. Just when I thought I knew who I was rooting for, J.M. Kearl brings in a rollercoaster of emotions and plot twist. The banter, the tension, the intriguing villain, the forgotten past, all come together to throw your heart for a loop.
You can really see the growth and depth of each character as the series is progressing and we are finding out more layers of who they are. I have to say that Tiff is my favorite character. She makes me giggle every time she speaks. I can't wait to continue this series!
One of my favorite lines is, "The line between hate and love is becoming increasingly thin".

I knew I was stoked for the 3rd part of this series and had NO IDEA THERE WOULD BE A FOURTH BOOK COMING!!
Jumping into Fate Calls the Elf Queen immediately takes you into Hel's history... which is intertwined with Layala's despite her having zero recollection of it. While Layala tries desperately to cling to the life she was building with Thane, it becomes increasingly obvious everyday that she needs to face her past in order to truly create a future for herself. I know the shift in focus may not be for everyone, but I loved this exploration of past and future.
No spoilers, but this journey of self discovery, sprinkled with a love triangle, and plenty of morally gray adventure is nothing short of fantastic. The narrators did an amazing job jumping into the story and pulling you in with them.

Absolutely loved this book! The narrators did such a good job making me feel like I was in the story myself. And I loved that Jake did separate voices for Hel and Thane. I thought this was a trilogy (it is not) so I cannot wait until the next book! Also that plot twist at the end!!

I absolutely loved this audiobook! It was so wonderful being in this world again as a listener. I found that I was picking up on things I hadn't picked up when I initially read this book and it made me fall more and more in love with the story, the characters. and the beautifully crafted love story that J.M. crafted for us as the readers.
I couldn't put this audiobook down, it was perfect and I loved it so much!

I listened to this book on audio and it was sooooo good! Def my favorite out of the 3 so far! I cannot wait for book 4!
So many twist and turns!

Things have gone from bad to worse now that Layala has awoken the Black Mage, Hel. With his return, Hel drops a shocking revelation claiming Layala is his wife. Not only that, he claims she’s actually the reborn goddess, Valeen. Hel is determined to make Layala remember. She’s determined to leave those memories in the past and continue her life with Thane. However, when Layala is targeted by assassins, she has no choice but to seek out her memories. As her memories resurface, Layala is forced to decide between two very different lives and versions of herself.
Fate Calls the Elf Queen is the third installment in Kearl’s The Elf Queen series. This series has shown no signs of slowing down, and this might be my favorite book yet in the series. The same elements we’ve grown to love are present: an incredible found family; expansive world building and magic systems; scheming; and betrayals. I will say this book is a complete shift in who the characters are but with good reason as they continue to discover their hidden memories. I really enjoyed the flashbacks to the past and learning more about Layala, Thane, and Hel. If love triangles aren’t your thing, this book may be a struggle. However, I felt it really worked in this instance. I am obsessed with the banter and tension between Layala and Hel. Sorry, Thane, Hel is just so captivating and brings out an entirely different side of Layala. Part of why I enjoy these stories so much is the narration in the audiobooks. The narrators do such a great job of evoking the characters emotions and bringing each distinct character to life. Also, the chemistry they bring to life between the love interests is top notch. Buckle up for a ride and be ready for a wild ending.

I absolutely loved this book. I read the first book this year and loved it so much. If you love lord of the rings but want more more romance. You will love this series. I would highly recommend this series!

I’ve read the book myself and loved it but having the audiobook made me love it even more.. I’m so ready for the next book.. about a bad cliffhanger but gosh I need more..

Despite not reading the first books in the series, JM Kearl's writing allowed me to hop right into the thick of the story. The time jumps were refreshing and truly helped bring the thousand year love story of Thane, Hel, and Layala to life. These three have been through so much together, and Kearl's ability to illustrate those bonds without the reader knowing or understanding their elaborate past is masterful.
. The real triumph of this interpretation of the story were the performances of Bridget and Jake Bordeaux, who gave the emotional journey of these characters so much life. At this point, I'd listen to an audiobook of the phone book if they read it.
Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Select, and JM Kearl for providing an ARC for an honest review!

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Select for this opportunity to listen rate and review this audiobook arc which will be available December 26,2023!
Bridget and Jake Bordeaux deliver a masterful audiobook once again bringing the work of J.M. Kearl to life.
Honestly this was an auditory treat for me. The narration was crisp and clean. Emotions were used. They built tension and when it ebbed their narration changed. I was never bored.

I’m so conflicted because I love the writing and I loved the story and plot progression but I despise the love triangle. More than that I hate that we spent 2 books developing a relationship and falling for Thane/War to have it hurriedly overturned in the span of 1 book.

JM Kearl has become one of my absolute favorite authors. I don’t know how but this is the best book of the series and there’s still more.
There was so much mystery and somehow she wrapped up so much so quickly towards the last 20% while creating more mysteries for the next book! There were so many loose ends tied up that I didn’t even realize were loose ends before this book!
While I don’t usually like love triangles, I enjoyed this one. The love triangle made me cry. There was so much pining and so much growth. There were answers to 2000 years of history and still some mysteries to unravel.
I also don’t usually like when there are time jumps because they’re not always written well enough to understand when they happen all the time, but it was so clear in this book when we were in a scene from the past.
I love Bridget and Jake! They do an amazing job on every audiobook and I’m always ready to pick it up if they’re narrating!
I’m so stoked for the next book! Such a good series so far!
